MTV's The Real World The Complete First Season - New York

Review: This is what started it all. The MTV generation comes alive in this first season. I remember when I first watched this season all those years back. It really brings me back to the days when Coca-Cola was actually sold in glass bottles. But I digress. This season was not a bad one. It did have its down times, such as Ricky pulling Jessicas hair. But hey, if u dont find this dvd at the least bit entertaining, then might I suggest watching Annie instead? This would have gotten 5 stars, but when the producers filmed the cut scenes the camera seems to jiggle a tad. Not good. All in all, and in conclusion, This season redefined the genre of late night pork rind binges.

Review: This show is horrible, stupid, and comes no where close to the "real world". The fact that this show still exists shows how simple-minded people are in watching garbage like this on tv. People can thank this show for making more "real tv" shows that fill the air waves of the tv and how horrible tv has truely become.

Review: What can I say...... but thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I have been wishing for years that MTV would put out the Real World on VHS/DVD. And yeah.....! the did! I love The Real World. All the seasons were great. Am looking forward to the others to come out. The Real World started the reality craze. The show has been a part of my life for years. I started watching the first season, and was quickly hooked. I recommend this to everyone and a must for a real, Real World fan. And if you didn't get to watch it when it was on the air, buy it now and enjoy. Thanks Mary and Jon for being so creative. Thanks to the cast members for being real and sharing your life. And thanks MTV and Amazon!! Now..... please can we have the other seasons out quickly? Time to go out and buy the big screen tv! hehe

Summary: A WONDERFUL EPIC ADVENTURE OF YOUNG LIFE BUT...
Review: Whe this first aired on MTV, it showed us all something we had never seen. A reality show that as it went on, the people portrayed went from every day people to epic characters worthly of the greatest fiction. This was the first year of MTV's The Real World, therefore what you see is not fake, staged or as in other seasons, knowing that the more drama and fighting we saw, the better. This goes completely the opposite. Sure, there are heated arguments but the people here are struggling with the camera not embracing it like other shows or seasons. I have had this on tape for almost ten years now and I rushed out and got the dvd. My only problem is because MTV could not get the rights to any of the original music, it used hack instrumental music over the proceedings. Part of the power of the piece was watching these people struggle with the day to dayness of their lives while the music of the time dictated that mood, chaos and love expressed here. Music like Guns and Roses, Metallica and many others are sorely missed and as wonderful as this collection is, something is missing. I wish this could be released complete.
People or shall I say epic characters like Julie, Becky, Eric, Kevin, Andre, Heather and Norm deserve so much better.
