Summary: The Stand definite best mini-series!
Review: This was actually the very first Stephen King movie I have ever seen, my dad taped the mini-series on telivision, and said that it was really good. My whole family sat in the family room watching it and I just ignored it, going outside, and playing basketball, until finally I joined in into the second part. Instantly I was glued! I don't know why, but I was! It was spellbinding, and I totally lost track of time and they stopped it at the second part, and it was nearly midnight, they told me that we would watch the other two parts the next day. But I couldn't get it outta my head, it was strange. The Next day, I watched the rest, and it was the very first movie that actually made me cry, I have no idea what made me cry, but I had to hide it from my family. So that same day I watched it again, with no point of boredom, and from that day on I was a Stephen King fanatic! I read The Stand book afterwords, and I was glued into the book also, I couldn't put it down! I would like to say this is THE greatest mini-series ever to show on televison, and I don't agree with that guy from Ontario, Canada that said he hated it. All together, I congratlate Stephen King!

Review: If you see the movie before reading the book, you will find yourself in a trance the entire 6.5 hours! I started watching it with the intention of watching one half at a time, but I ended up watching the entire movie because it put some kind of spell on me! I can understand the complaints of those who read the book first, as that nearly always ruins a movie, but if you see this movie first you will NOT be disappointed! Gary Sinise and Rob Lowe are brilliant, as are the special effects. I can only give it five stars here, but I would give it more if I could!

Review: Sorry, but I disagree with most of ya. The series didn't need to be as long as the book, but it was. Many scenes were unnecessary and boring! The novel was a lot better. I would not even recommend this movie to the biggest Stephen King fan.

Summary: Not as good as the book---
Review: ---and the book is the weakest thing King has written. At least in the novel King is able to take us inside the minds of the dozens of characters who populate this never-ending story. The film is only able to present each character's ticks (if that guy had said M-O-O-N spells whatever one more time, my foot was going to go through the TV!!!) rather than present them to us as real people.To be fair, Gary Sinise does his considerable best, and Laura San Giacomo manages to overcome the scraps of character she has to deal with. But what actor alive could possibly play Randall Flagg? Certainly not the unfortunate in this movie. The faults of the series are the faults of the book: Overlong, Pretentious, Predictable, Overly Convinced That It Is Conveying Some Kind Of Message About Good And Evil. Sadly, the virtues of the book are nowhere in evidence. Namely King's amazing ability to create living breathing characters that engage our attention and affections.

Summary: Brilliant, but as usual, not a patch on the book.......
Review: The Stand was a brilliant 6 hour film, but i found flaws in it. Firstly, they made two charachters (Rita Blakemoor & Nadine Cross) in to one (Nadine Cross). This threw me a bit, but i got used to it. I also noticed that Mother Abagail said the word Stand more than it was said in the book. This was also the case for Tom Cullen and M.O.O.N., he said it more times in his first scene in the film, that it was said in the whole book! All this aside, top notch and well worth 5 stars.

Review: This was a very accurate representation of the book, probably the best I've seen. I recommend watching the movie, then reading the book. You get a better grasp of the characters and the situation. The plot is outstanding and the detail is fascinating!

Review: I was a Clive Barker fan for so long, until I read "The Stand" and then saw the miniseries! One word...perfection! A masterpiece of good, rich storytelling, in every sense of the word! . . .Now, if they would just do the same with Barker's "Weaveworld".......*sigh*

Review: I have seen the movie and read the book more than once. Talk about staying power! This book has it and more. Good and Evil, power and glory, love and hate, GOD and satan, you name it this movie covers it. From the beginning of the movie, the crow (Randy Flagg) is seen as evil and there is no "poor little demon wasn't loved as a child" as the movie goes along. There is the Good guys and there is the bad guys, no confusion here! Thanks Stephen King. "You done good."
