Summary: Ha Ha
Review: This series is the most faithful to the book I have ever seen. The costumes are also more historically acurate than in other productions. The actors portrayal of the characters, very faithful indeed. I have loved this story for years, and while the book is always better (my personal opinion) I have watched this series many a time, and enjoy it always.

Summary: Nothing is better for a rainy day
Review: This is absolutely one of my very favorite movies of all time! BBC makes classic books into the best, most faithful movies. I also highly recommend their version of Jane Eyre. On rainy Saturdays, there is nothing I'd rather do than curl up in front of the TV with a cup of tea and watch this movie.

Summary: Does not beat the BBC production
Review: I thought that this version was not as true to the book, and that the Mr. Darcy played by Colin Firth was not convincing what so ever. I have seen both versions of pride and prejudice and have read the book, and the BBC production with Elizabeth Garvie and David Rintoul tops them all! I thought that it was truer to the book, as well as having a very convincing Mr. Darcy, the other you would not have known that Mr. Darcy even liked Elizabeth! I dont recommend this version, and I think that putting it on six tapes is a rip off, because it can fit on two.

Summary: One of greatest TV series!!
Review: This is one of the rare movies that I want to watch over and over again without being bored. Unlike most of the long movies, I can watch this whole movie in just one sitting. Casting is superb as much as their talents. I am very happy to add DVD version of this movie to my collection. This movie is trully a gem!!

Summary: good, but one problem
Review: I am deaf, so the problem I had when I bought the video was that it had no close captions. Therefore, I could not watch it. I did, however, see it on mini-series on t.v. with close captions. It was really good. Is there a movie with these same group of people with close captions? It would really help me a lot!

Summary: This version has a good hour more dialogue than on TV
Review: I bought the DVD since I had worn out the videos I taped during the A&E presentation. I had no idea I was missing a good hour of dialogue! Lead-ins, fade-outs, entire scenes shown in the DVD were missing from the original presentation. It was great to hear dialogue which explained some non-sequitors in the original. I feel like I'm seeing it for the first time.

Summary: The best funny, romantic drama i've ever seen
Review: This movie is funny and very romantic. I recomen it to anyone who has 5hrs to spare whether it be at the same time or not it doesn't really matter. But if you are into romance, I suggest you see it!

Summary: Outstanding Production and Adaptation // Poor DVD Set-up
Review: Our family watched the original A&E broadcast and were thoroughly pleased. We thought/think that this Pride and Prejudice is a timeless and classical production in itself. Wrote A&E and told them so. We bought the six-part VHS release and wore it out replaying it. Bought a dual-tray DVD player all the better to get and show the DVD version of the A&E production seamlessly and in better clarity. Alas, the greater the expectation the greater the disappointment.

The DVD quality is no better than the video though I'm certain it will last longer. The greater disappointment is that the long playing characteristic of the DVD is totally negated. The DVD is still divided into six sections each with its own interruption and interminable credits listings. It makes viewing this exquisite movie much the more tedious because of the interruptions every 50 minutes.

We are not happy with the DVD set-up though the production is outstanding.

Summary: Absolutely Fantastic!
Review: I completely fell in love with this movie!! It was so very well done. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle fit the parts of Darcy and Elizabeth perfectly. The script amazed me because it was practically word for word from the book. I never tire of watching this movie, and if I could I would watch it every day!! I highly recommend it to anyone!

Summary: Excessively diverting
Review: Even if you are not a fan of Jane Austen's novels, you owe it to yourself to experience this truly wonderful rendition of Pride and Prejudice. Although video quality is not as sharp as one might wish, it by no means diminishes the vibrant and deeply involving production. Be warned, you will watch this film many, many times; it would be a false economy to buy the tapes rather than the DVD's.

Acting all around is superb. Jennifer Ehle convincingly conveys the liveliness and devastating wit of Elizabeth Bennet. But the most outstanding performance belongs to Colin Firth, whose ability to find dimension and humanity within the narrow range of expressiveness textually permitted to Darcy is nearly miraculous.
