Review: I can only echo the sentiments already expressed.
The single star is for technical merit.
The shows deserves 6.0 stars.
What a waste of silicon.

Summary: Hey Now Hallelujah
Review: Hallelujah. The funniest American-made TV series is now on DVD. Gary Shandling's brilliant, acerbic and self-deprecatingly neurotic "THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW - THE ENTIRE FIRST SEASON" has not diminished by one iota even after its debut of nearly a decade. The whole gang is here, Rip Torn's tough and pragmatic Arty the producer is dead on. Jeffrey Tambor is the nearly talentless side-kick who has not a clue of his minimal contribution to Larry's show. The curvy Linda Doucette is a presence as Tambor's assistant (and Gary's then real life girlfriend). Jeremy Piven is a sometimes lust crazed staff writer. Janeane Garfolo is a vulnerable talent booker. Shandling's pitifully insecure Sanders is so perfect a depiction of an otherwise empty celebrity life that the enterprise has a documentary-like quality that rings so true to the human condition that it is often painfully funny. Among the wonderfully brave guest stars are Robin Williams, Carol Burnett, Jon Lovitz, Peter Falk, Mimi Rogers and Micheal Richards. There's thirteen episodes on three discs with a funny, new conversation between Shandling and journalist Tom Shales. Hey now.

Summary: Great show, but horrible DVD picture
Review: Let me start by saying that this is not a review of the show. Larry Sanders is a great show and deserves five stars. The DVD of the show, however, is awful. The picture is grainy and fuzzy -- as if the DVD transfer was made from a videotape created when the show first aired on HBO, and which was recently discovered while cleaning out the basement. A major selling point for watching a DVD is that the picture is noticeably better than cable tv or VHS tapes. With this DVD, the opposite is true. Reruns of Larry Sanders on HBO look better than the DVD.

Summary: Brilliant TV Satire
Review: The Larry Sanders Show is a show about a fictional late night talk show of the same name. Garry Shandling stars in the title role. Mr. Shandling had experience to draw from as he was a frequent guest host for the king of late night, Johnny Carson. Mr. Shandling plays Larry with a perfect amount of egotism and more importantly paranoia and insecurity. He is constantly worried about his image and the show's producer Artie, played brilliantly by Rip Torn is constantly stroking his ego. Jeffery Tambor plays Larry's on screen sidekick Hank, who has the annoying catchphrase, Hey Now. Hank is constantly being put down by Larry and is humorous the butt of many of his jokes. Mr. Tambor is equally funny as the classic television personality who is famous for no particular reason other than he is riding the coattails of a real talent. The show features real stars as themselves who are integrated into the storylines and appear on the fictional show as guests. The Larry Sanders Show was one of HBO's first critically acclaimed series and led to multiple Emmy nominations for the series (but only Mr. Torn won).

Summary: finally!!!!
Review: My all time favorite TV show, this is one of the best produced, funniest and most intelligent shows ever made. Rip Torn is beyond priceless and the rest are amazing. Cameo after cameo of superstars acting out neurotic emotional behavior may seem kind of trite if you've never seen the show, but you should see it before passing judgment. HBO+plus still airs it in some cities. Worth every penny, I've been waiting for this release for years.

Summary: Best of Cable Television
Review: Simply stated, the Larry Sanders Show is brilliantly written and acted. Witty comedy, hollywood insight, stories that mirror real life, and terrific characters (ala Cheers, Mash, Seinfeld) make this show is one of the best comedy series of all-time. The fact that it ran on cable, permits the writers to make it all the more realistic and over-the-top. Enjoy!

Summary: Where is Season 2? We are waiting!
Review: This is not only the best show about show business, it's one of the best shows ever! It's amazing that the remainig seasons haven't been released yet, when there is so much CRAP that IS being churned out! There has to be a reason! Let's hope that the studio finally gives in to the demand. Meanwhile, we'll just have to be patient..............................

Summary: How can Curb have 3 seasons out and Larry is stuck on one?!
Review: The show itself gets 5 stars but the DVD and features (or lack thereof) get 0 stars. With that said I still give it 5 stars cause it's that funny! I would say go buy it but it wouldn't even be a bad idea to wait because I'm sure they will release all 6 seasons in my life time (i'm only in my 30's!) and they will no doubt replace the bad first season that's out right now and then continue releasing till they get to 6. I can dream, can't I?!
