Summary: QUIT WHINING!
Review: Listen, I'm reading the reviews here, and I see a lot of people complaining about how this show is racist. They say it makes stereotypes Italians. As a middle aged Italian man myself, I have dealt with Mafia stereotyping in the past, but when it comes to this show, it simply doesn't bother me, or any of the other Italians I know who have seen it. First off, it's fiction! And in addition to that, they address the issue of non-Mafia Italians and their feelings about organized crime. When can people stop whining about political correctness and simply give this show the respect is deserves. And another thing, one comment said that had this show been made about another ethnic group, there would have been more unrest. Well what about the HBO miniseries "The Corner" that received great reviews? The fact of the matter is that this show is simply some of the best TV being made today, and if you believe the propaganda about this show being racist and choose not to watch it, I feel sorry for you, because you are missing out. It's got humor, drama, an interesting premise and topless dancers. Fun for the whole family!

Summary: Italian-American Beauty
Review: No need for me to add any more to the glorious reviews below...read on and you will see that The Sopranos is simply the best. A word to the reviewer who thinks The Soprano paints a negative portrait of the Italian-Americans - you're wrong. Every culture has its own negative/evil side. The Sopranos does the best job showing the Italian-Americans from every walk of life....better than The Godfather, Goodfellas, and even Moonstruck. Look at that psychiatrist Dr. Melfi and her family. But that is NOT the point of the show. The point of the show is "the American Dream Goes Bad"..take a look at last years American Beauty. The Sopranos and American Beauty share a lot of themes.

Summary: The GREATEST show on television
Review: Wow...what can I say that hasn't been said already. Great story, great acting, believable characters... Thankfully this is on cable instead of network television. ABC passed on this and HBO went for it. I bet they're thankful! Having the DVD series to watch instead of waiting for next week's episode was a real treat. My wife and I love this show and it's about the only reason we continue to pay for HBO. We play the trivia game on HBO's website and we are truly looking forward to season 3 in March. We also can't wait for season 2 to come out on DVD. If you haven't seen this show yet, I can't recommend it enough. As long as you aren't offended by some graphic language, violence and sex, you'll enjoy this as much as we do. This is not a children's show, by any stretch, but it is really good entertainment for consenting adults.

Summary: Great Concept for Mob series!
Review: When people kept saying The Sorpranos and James Gandolfini deserved to win the Emmy the year the series debuted, I thought people were off their rockers. Now that I've finally started (through eight episodes so far), now I know they were of sound mind when they said this is a great show. All the main characters establish themselves early in the series and like any good series you love 'em or hate 'em. If you love shows like Law & Order, NYPD Blues, etc., you'll love this show as well.

Summary: Buy this DVD!
Review: THE SOPRANOS is unquestionably the most brilliant series ever created for the television since the '70s. Much thanks to HBO for releasing THE SOPRANOS on DVD simply because I couldn't get enough of the series. I pray that HBO will release Season Two and Three on DVD in the near future. THE SOPRANOS brings back a lot of memories.. every time I see Tony, Livia, Carmella, Uncle Junior....I think of my family. Their mannerisms and language are just perfect.

Summary: Sopranos
Review: I love the organized crime drama HBO created. I can't wait until the second season is released. The only bad thing about the DVD set is the compression ratio that was used has created a pixelation or noise that appears in the background from time to time. This pixel disturbance is most noticable while Tony is in the phsychiatrist office, just behind his head you can see the compression factor changing the pixel color back and forth.

Summary: The best TV series ever...
Review: I've said all I want to say above, the Sopranos first series is by far the best TV show I have ever seen, eclipsing every other show on my otherwise dull UK channels. At last I have the chance to watch something other than the disgustingly awful soap operas which litter the TV all year round, what a change to see something so original and well made! Everything is here; action, love, violence, sex, comedy, sadness, controversy, and quality, quality acting, all blended together as seamless as The Godfather Part 2 was. Still waiting for the second series to be released though...

Summary: One of the best
Review: Unlike most, I don't have HBO and I'v never watched the Sopranos on TV before. However, I'd heard so many good things about the show, that was the first DVD I bought when I received a new DVD player for Christmas. The VHS version is good, but the quality isn't that great and it's too hard to navigate through the episodes. On the DVD, you can use the features to find a specific episode, then get plot summaries and another feature that allows you to scroll through certain scenes within a specific episode. The VHS version requires you to rewind and fast-forward the cassette to find the right episode and it's too much trouble. For nearly the same price, the DVD is worth the money and the show is one of the best on television. Worth buying if you have a DVD player, and worth buying a DVD player FOR if you don't.

Summary: Relive the Experience
Review: I happened to stumble upon The Sopranos early in its first run on HBO and was hooked... After getting this set, I've been able to watch the magic all over again. :-) Even friends watching a couple episodes end up hooked-- my sister watched 9 hours straight, and another friend watched this entire 4-DVD set over the course of just a couple of days right after I got it! The Sopranos is one of the best shows on TV, and the first season is without a doubt the best.

Summary: A BLAST! (no pun intended)
Review: The Sopranos deliver everything you'd want from a t.v show. Drama, comedy, violence and most importantly, a heart. If there is on box set on your holiday wish list, make this the one! Each episode is already a treat, but with the featurettes and commentary, the Sopranos is the best DVD collection of the year. Badda-bing.

Badda-boom.
