Rating: Summary: An awesome show from a new fan! Review: I remember hearing about the show during the period it was on the WB but never got to watch it due to the time slot. Recently I was surfing through the television and saw an episode on the Scifi channel and became instantly hooked. The next day I went to the store and bought the entire Season 1 on Dvd with only watching one episode. It was well worth it. I cant wait till the other two seasons come on dvd. I am not obsessed with the show!
Rating: Summary: Surprising Entertainment. Review: I borrowed this series from a friend, and was suprised by how much I became immersed in the series. I am not big on Dawson's Creek or Buffy the Vampire Slayer type TV, but as each episode passed, I became more of a fan, and by the end of the season I was a bona fide "Roswellian."The series has its ups and downs but steadily builds momentum to a very satisfying conclusion. Overall, not a bad value and definitely a surprise for a skeptic/critic like myself. On music: I liked much of the music and was somewhat disappointed that some of the music had been changed because of cost. Though I will never know what difference, if any, the change had. Strongly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Great quality but not what was promised us Review: When the announcement was made that a DVD set of Roswell would be coming out with ALL THE DELETED SCENES, I pre-ordered the set. The promise of those deleted scenes is the only reason I bought the it. I was seriously disappointed when I got it and found that only 1 scene was included. Yes, there are music changes and I can live with those not being a big music buff. But what would it have cost to include the scenes and gag reel we were promised???? If season 2 comes out, I won't pre-order it. I'll wait to find out if we were shafted again. I buy DVDs for the extras. If I only wanted to re-watch the shows... I could watch my VCR tapes.
Rating: Summary: Dawson's Creek...WITH ALIENS.. Review: This show is absolutely horrible. Period. The acting is terrible, the main plotline about descendents of aliens undergoing teen angst between battles with "evil government" types who want to control them, is tiresome. The only real good thing is the opening song by Dido. Just like Smallville, this dreck is for ritilin-addicted 14 year olds who think that this show is something greater than the invention of fire. This DVD collection simply puts all the garbage into one gross pile.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Sci-Fi Drama Review: Excellent science fiction with believability due to the fine actors. I read a bio on the cast and to have youth so much on their side, they are excellent actors with "seasoned" gifts.
Rating: Summary: Now i am a believer! Review: I nevered watched the show when it came on the WB, I thought it was going to be another teen drama with the same preticable subplots, but then I started to watch the reruns on the SCIFi channel and took a chance on buying the season when it came out. Boy was I ever wrong I loved every episode and ever cried on some. It was really touching and I recomend this DVD set to anyone!
Rating: Summary: finally! Review: there are no words to express my love for this dvd set, this show, and well. the fact that i finally have it on something else besides VHS. this is one show i truly miss.
Rating: Summary: Mildly entertaining Review: I never watched Roswell before I got the DVD, the purchase being based on all the glowing reviews and my "what the heck" attitude. That said, here is my review: Decent premise (small group of aliens in hiding.) Good production values. Made a lot from little. Mostly interesting story. Some "out there" stuff, though. Some of the relationships seemed forced (such as Maria and Michael - why drag that out so long? He was always a jerk, and she kept coming back, again and again, for nothing...) Adequate acting, but nothing special. Nice geography and geology. The actors and actresses playing high school kids ranged from age 18 to 25. I understand the problems and expense of working with minors, but the cast just seemed way too old for the characters, especially Jason Behr as "Max" (25 as 17) and Shiri was 20 as 16...Of course, adolescents always imagine themselves as older, so younger audiences will not notice or care. The women were very attractive, and the guys had attractive hair. In fact "Michael"'s hair seems to be a supporting character - it certainly had a mind of its own. One problem I had is that when watching several episodes in a row, marathon style, a lot of the little quirks of the characters became annoyances or distractions. I will mention no names, but you know what I'm talking about: 1. Knock-knees. The Achilles heel of a beautiful woman. 2. Yoda ears. Combined with advanced age and wooden acting was distracting. 3. Hair and pout. I understand the hair became some sort of "thing", but really, it was pretty bad. It never saw a comb until the last ep or so. Also, an unusual lip purse/jaw drop pout action going most of the time, which was a distraction. 4. One voice was irritating. Sorry, it grates after a while and was distracting. The above is not a slam, just an observation that if seen once a week it would probably be fine, but in a condensed version, it becomes quite noticeable. As for the DVD itself. the list of features is misleading. I found no "gag reel". Only 1 deleted scene - about 20 seconds - and I could not get a commentary on it. Only 2 "featurettes", not 3 - the behind the scenes which was good, and a brief and listless bit with the book authors. The episode commentaries (about 6 in total) were pretty good. Shiri and Majandra giggled through two of them, including the one where they and boyfriends make out a lot - those were the best. The final ep had Jason Katims and the episode director. Unfortunately, Jason had the "you know" syndrome pretty bad there, you know. I would not know (never having seen the TV run) nor do I care now, but some of the songs have been changed. I only found this out after watching all 6 discs because when I was putting them in the box, I noticed a paper squished up inside it. It is a message from Jason Katims, the executive producer, apologizing for not being able to afford all the music rights and having to substitute some. I thought about 6 shows were really good, 3 were really bad (for logic/believability/technicality reasons), and the rest were so-so. Overall, mildly entertaining, but don't think I will go for next season.
Rating: Summary: A MUST HAVE FOR EVERY FAN AND THOSE WHO WILL BE! Review: I can't imagine not having this dvd set! It is my all time favorite-have been through all 6 discs twice and will be heading to third time around soon. Although some of the music has changed, it can be lived with-the best and most important music still remains-Dido, Sarah Mclauglin, Dave Mathews, etc. The picture quality and the audio is excellant. If you are a Roswell fan or if you have never seen the show and wonder what all the noise is about, then this is a must have! After seeing season 1, you'll know why the devoted fans are working so hard to have feature film made of their favorite Pod People! Bring on seasons 2 & 3 SOON!
Rating: Summary: A GREAT SCI-FI SHOW AND A GREAT LOVE STORY Review: First off, the dvd set is wonderful, everything works as promised. An amazing amount happens in the three seasons. Fortunately the writers were actually able to bring a very cool ending to the show when they found the show was cancelled. So the show runs from season 1 to season 3 quite smoothly. I am a male, and I really like the love story element in the show. Roswell is unique in its ability to bring off drama, suspense and comedy all in the same episode. You will not regret buying this and it is nicely priced, especially compared to such sets as Farscape and the last 2 seasons of X-Files.
