Rating: Summary: It does grow on you Review: As an animation student, one of my instructors commented on how he enjoyed King of the Hill, a series I somewhat avoided. When I began watching it, I was with other students in feeling that it wasn't too hilarious or amazing. However, after only a few episodes, the characters and their own personal quirks grew strongly on me. I strongly suggest those who are heasitant to take a look at two or three episdoes. The shows is worth it.
Rating: Summary: Bashful's DVD Summary #033 Review: Best: 1) A cartoon show about a normal family is refreshing for a change. People who find "The Simpsons" or "Futurama" (or ""The Family Guy") too wild should appreciate this leisure comedy. 2) Some of the episodes (mainly the first six) are extremely hilarious. 3) There are a few episode commentary tracks and behind-the scenes shows. Worst: 1) This season is short - only 13 episodes (as compared to the usual 22). 2) The commentary tracks where the actor's use their character voices aren't very entertaining or informative. Recommendation: This series is a must-have for anybody with a sense of humor. The first few episodes should get you hooked.
Rating: Summary: $15, It's $40 at the mall! Review: Get this here and now, the first season of one of my top ten shows. Buy it!
Rating: Summary: be the king get this Review: Has 13 episodes good dvd extras
Rating: Summary: This show doesn't deserve to exist Review: I fail to see how this show can be compared to the Simpsons, or any other good show for that matter. It alternates between
1) Un-funny
2) Incredibly boring
3) Just plain stupid
4) Various combinations of the above
I wouldn't wish a whole DVD of this on anyone.
Rating: Summary: A Sitcom in Cartoon Format Review: I held off on watching King of the Hill for many years because I thought it was a "serious" cartoon. I thought I preferred watching The Simpsons and Family Guy. But I saw my first King of the Hill episode this year and was blown away by how well written it was and the subtelty of the humor. The episode is the one where Hank's Laotian neighbor's mother comes to live with him and starts dating one of Hank's friends. I was so intrigued by that episode that I went out and bought the 1st season DVD pack (yes, I'm impulsive like that). The episodes were awesome. I enjoyed everyone one of them. I had also purchased the 3rd season of The Simpsons, and the 2nd Volume (3rd Season) of The Family Guy at the same time. I watched through all of the King of the Hill discs first. I have a feeling that King of the Hill will have longer legs than Family Guy. Family Guy is outrageously funny when you first watch it, but then you start to anticipate the bits. King of the Hill develops slowly and gives you a full 30 minutes of focused story, which is nice. I plan on selling my Simpsons DVDS (except for 1st season) and I probably will wind up selling the Family Guy DVDs as well. I'm keeping King of the Hill and getting ready to buy the 2nd season right after I make this post.
Rating: Summary: The King of All DVD's Review: I just purchased the King of the Hill first season DVD. It is a must see for any King of the Hill fan or occasional viewer. The first season shows are hilarious, if a bit less developed than future years. The extras are terrific, particularly the character introductions. This DVD set reminded me why King of the Hill is my favorite comedy since Seinfeld.
Rating: Summary: Season 1 is always the best... Review: I purchased this DVD a couple of days ago, and have watched it multiple times. Season 1 piles the humor on thick and deep. You get 13 wonderful episodes, including the pilot, which is probably the best overall show fox has ever aired. Hank is suspected of child abuse when Bobby gets a black eye, and a social worker from L.A. comes around causing trouble. The 1st episode is GREAT, GREAT, GREAT. The extra features are nothing to scream about, but they are servicable. Don't purchase this DVD for the features; it pays for itself with including the pilot episode. Lots of great one-liners are littered throughout the episodes... "That boy ain't right." Enjoy!!!!!!
