Summary: Season 1
Review: One in a very, very small list of shows that showed some originality and stamina based on its own merits. Besides an intricate ongoing plot based on issues starting to face our world even today, the show was not afraid to push the envelope.
The real tragedy is not that the show was cancelled but that it represented a new breed of programming that did not patronize its mostly youth audience. Youth reality is rarely treated in any kind of genuine manner but instead insults with condescension and preaching. With the cancellation of the show, a signal was sent out across the Network spectrum that TV is simply not ready for youth to think for themselves.

Evidenced by Fox's decision to dull the edges of Season 2 after September 11th, Dark Angel fell into a confused entanglement of tangents which led only to happy places. Of course, the show failed. Youth shown an open door in Season 1 were not ready to shut it so fast in Season 2 and so suffer again with mainstream sensationalism promising empty fullfillment.

Keep the dream alive! Buy Season 1 because you like it but if you really want to support the show further, you could always buy season 2 when it comes out although make sure you've watched it first.

Summary: Dark Angel IS A ...
Review: This show is nothing but a bad ... of a far superior show - BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. The writers of this show don't even come close to giving Dark Angels audience the kind of excellence that Buffy's writers produce. Don't buy this ... go out and buy one of the 3 Buffy seasons that are out on DVD so far they are superior products.

Summary: Dark Angel "First Season"
Review: This first season was great, I stayed glued to it like most of the other reviewers that you have read, but after the first season was over, so was my viewing pleasure. I would say buy this season for sure if you are a die hard sci-fi fan, but be cautious if they release the second season because from there on out, the show went downhill by introducing large amounts of b.s. and re-introducing the same plot twists w/ very little additives.

Summary: One the most creative, "revolutionary" shows on TV!
Review: James Cameron's and Charles Eglee's "Dark Angel" TV show is a science fiction masterpiece. It's a special combination of the classic films "Blade Runner," "Alien," the first "Terminator,"science fiction writer Octavia Butler's "Parable of the Sower" and "Parable of the Talents," public intellectual Mike Davis's "City of Quartz," and Del the Funky Homosapien's hip-hop classic album "Deltron 3030." If that isn't a creative mixture of pop culture, I don't know what is.

With its large dose of urban, youth-inspired hip-hop music, vernacular, culture, style, and even its more progressive politics implicity critiquing the growing prison industry, transnational corporations, mass media whiteouts, white supremacy, "Dark Angel" is like what rapper Chuck D called rap: "young black people's CNN." Probably featuring the most diverse ethnic and racial cast on a TV show that (gasp!) actually reflects the new majority of the U.S. population of mixed race and people of color, "Dark Angel" is years ahead of the competition of all-white "girl's who kick ass" genre-type TV shows like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Xena," "Alias," "Birds of Prey," etc. The main star, Jessica Alba as "Max Guevara" has major attitude and street smarts, and her struggle collectively shared by many others, to survive in a world turned upside down is genuine and at times, heartfelt. But beyond the serious, mature angle, this TV show makes for great entertainment. Pure 100% fun!

James Cameron, Charles Eglee, and the excellent writers, cast, and crew who but "Dark Angel" together deserve credit for creating a great TV show. Unfortunately, even the immense, international, "Dark Angel" fan base couldn't save the show from stopping after its second season. Theories abound for why the show was canceled: it was too "dark" and depressing for mainstream viewers, especially after Sept. 11th, it was too expensive to maintain, it was moved from Tuesday night to Friday night (a seriously bad move!), etc. Whatever it was, it had nothing to do with the lack of content and the fans who watched it faithfully! Looking on the bright side, "Dark Angel" has two seasons full of excellent episodes which come nicely together in a powerful ending. And instead of having to watch "Dark Angel" on my badly copied VHS tapes, I can now own it on DVD, commercial free and uninterrupted. I can wait for the second season to come out, but not for long!

Summary: Nothing beats the original Dark Angel- It deserves 100 stars
Review: Dark Angel was the most awesome tv show ever! I tried to tape every episode but only managed most in the 2nd season - I'm dying to see the first season again, it was so cool.

I've tried watching lots of other programs, some just try to copy Dark Angel (like Mutant X - no offence if you're a fan) but they can never be as cool or as stylish as the original Dark Angel; and the more I watch, the more I miss Dark Angel.

The cast was just awesome and ideas and special effects were too. I was so upset when they stopped making the series so anything more to do with Dark Angel would be great.

The first season of Dark Angel deserves 100 stars, not just 5.

Summary: Dark Angel Series One DVD boxed Set
Review: As a fan of the show, i would usually have to be careful not to write a biased review. This series though, is worthy of all the credit it gets. Excellent character development and plot makes this series a good thing to have in your DVD player. The storyline constantly build on what happens in previous episodes. Which is good for the fan that watches every episode. However this can be a drawback if you watch it infrequently, (developments can be hard to follow.) but if your buying the DVD boxed set, you won't have to worry about that.
Jessica Alba and Micheal Weatherly are possibly the most perfect actors for their roles. The chemistry between them is so strong that they are now in fact engaged. This reflects in the series as you really can believe the love they have for each other fictionally on screen. A great supporting cast of other talented actors keeps the show from being just another action scene to action scene, and adds a great down to earth feel.

Some of the drawbacks of the DVDs are their initial Price .... so not everyone can afford them. The special features are limited to 4 interviews with James Cameron, Jessica Alba, Micheal Weatherly and John Savage on the second boxed set, with none on the first. This is perhaps the only disapoining aspect of the sets. It would have been good to see some of the outtakes or deleted scenes..

Worth looking at if you like Sci-Fi, and a must have for a dedicated fan.

Summary: Don't let the light block out Dark Angel
Review: Dark Angel with Jessica Alba and Michael Weatherly was perhaps the only show that I would stop whatever I was doing and sit down to watch. I worshiped this show when it was on the air.

The drama, the suspense, the romance, the action. Isn't that what makes a great TV show?

Long live the marriage of Jess and Michael (yes they are getting married, if you have been living under a rock.)

The world needs to get rid of the reviewers of those who run the November and March Sweeps. They always get rid of the good stuff and then the networks put the shows when no one can watch them. Dark Angel being moved to Fridays at 8 was the worst decision that could have been made. Everyone goes out!

Down with the reviewers. LONG LIVE DARK ANGEL!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Dark Angel pre-review
Review: This is of necessity a faux review, since I haven't seen the
actual DVD. It hasn't been released in the U.S. If you're
not afraid to surf in French, go to Amazon.fr. Mind you, that
DVD is zone 2 and may not be viewable in players on this
continent. Getting back to the "review", let me just say
that this series was the most interesting failure of 2001; a
series which despite its mindless appeal quotient for channel surfers, did have interesting notions that, however, it chose
to leave unexplored once it began to emphasize technology over
real character development. Still, it was wonderfully thrilling at times, and did enjoy the charms of two interesting protagonists, Jessica Alba and Mr. Weatherly, who played the title "angel" and her love-interest, Willie Garvin-like would-be right-hand,Logan Cale. The creators, however, tipped their hand too quickly with the romance aspect of things, and denied the characters the psychological verisimilitude that a post-apocalyptic, dystopian environment would have demanded, or if given a campy staging, completely obviated. Oh, there was also a magnificently played villain, Donald Lydecker, which Mr. John Savage filled with a restrained grandeur that can only be called Machiavellian. His struggle to bring his own creations, the souped up super-soldiers, back to an ignominious, though dutiful, captivity gave the series a frisson of adolescent wisdom and rebelliousness, that was not ultimately matched by the writing. Maybe next time.

Summary: If we can't have another season, at least release the DVD
Review: Dark Angel is absolutely awesome!!!! Every episode kept me glued to the television. No interuptions allowed while Dark Angel was on so I could absord everything. I loved the characters, the story lines, the music, the set. Jessica Alba is absolutely spellbinding. I want to know more about every character in the show. I want to see these episodes over and over.
