Rating: Summary: a Fantastic Addition to any fan of these type of shows Review: Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill, Futurama. These 4 "Adult" Cartoon shows broadcast by Fox are all great in their own way. Sadly Family Guy and Futurama, which i thought could have even beat the Simpsons were cancelled after only a short run. I don't know what fox was thinking but Family Guy never really got established. Back to Futrama however, unlike the Simpsons, it's first season, since it was started by Matt Groening in about 1999, had highly polished and well done animation. Also unlike the simpsons, its animation hasnt changed drastically which I think is fine cause it's really great. The first season was awesome, the only drawback was its 13 episodes is a little short. This, along with simpsons season 3 are the ones I've been waiting for. All episodes from season 2 plus three from season 3 are rumored to be on this set. The complete list is as follows (19 episodes) Running Time: over 7 hours =)1. I second that emotion 2. Brannigan begin again 3. A head in the polls 4. Xmas story 5. Why must I be a crustacean in love? 6. Put your head on my shoulder 7. Lesser of two evils 8. Raging bender 9. A bicyclops built for two 10.How Hermes requisitioned his groove back 11.A clone of my own 12.The deep south 13.Bender gets made (AKA Bendfellas) 14.The problem with popplers 15.Mother's day 16.Anthology of interest I 17.War is the h-word 18.The honking 19.The cryonic woman Bottom Line: Pure Genius
Rating: Summary: Another Great Science Fiction Show Canceled Before Its Time Review: Well, Futurama may be gone from the Fox Broadcast Network but it will certainly live on in DVD Collections around the world. This second volume is an excellent addition to any collection. By the second season the characters were reaching full development. On this DVD you will see episodes surrounding all the main characters like: + Dr. Zoidberg (Why Must I Be a Crustacean In Love?) + Hermes (How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back) + Amy & Fry (Put Your Head on My Shoulder) + Leela (A Bicyclops Built for Two) + Bender (Lesser of Two Evils, Raging Bender, Bender Gets Made) + Professor (A Clone of My Own) + Mom (Mother's Day) + Zap (Brannigan Begin Again) It is a shame that this show was cut from Fox. Hopefully a better network will notice this gem and pick it up. Already the reruns can be seen on the Cartoon Network, TBS and MUN2 (Spanish). Can a revival be far behind?
Rating: Summary: We have another winner! Review: There are many reviews that concentrate on the show, so I'll concentrate on DVD quality. :-) FOX knows the value of its customers, or at least the value of DVD. The video/image quality of these episodes is as perfect as they can get. It's virtually identical, if not better, than that of broadcast quality. Colors are vibrant, pictures are crisp... yum! The only minor down side is the lack of Dolby 5.1 treatment for the sound. However, in Dolby 2.0, it still rocks. No demerits. The only major downside is a goofy, inconsistent menu system that is different for each disc. This gets rectified in Volume 3. But it's still obvious and easy to navigate between episodes. No demerits here. If you're a fan of Futurama, this set is a MUST BUY. Heck, it's so good, I recommend you get it for full MSRP! But I have yet to argue with amazon.com's prices...
Rating: Summary: Smartest show on TV Review: Futurama was the smartest show on TV and this series of DVD's are a must for any fan. The extras a little lean but the commentaries on ALL the shows more than makes up for the lack of extras. I do wish at times that John Di Maggio would have a little "less" vocal but hey, it's all fun. It was a shame the show was axed since you could see how it was becoming a great show. At least Fox had the good sense to put out the DVD's.
Rating: Summary: NO STARS! Please tell me theres no more dvds of this series. Review: I've caught this disaster a few times in it's pointless existence in syndication after Family Guy on the cartoon network. I tried to give it a chance, being a big fan of older Simpsons shows and Family Guy, but the dry sense of humor it's characters constantly belched out was torture and I can't believe people waste their money and time buying these dvds and watching them over and over. I only gave this show a few comments here to warn people about how terrible it is. It's no wonder that they had to settle on Billy West and Peggy Bundy as the main voice 'talent.'I think Matt Groening jinxed himself with the few seasons he made of this show before it was cancelled, because it seems that lately The Simpsons is headed down the same path. I couldn't care less if you disagree with my opinion, or if you don't want to take my word for it, I know what is funny and what is not. Fans of this garbage should be ashamed of themselves, while people with a good sense of humor should know that Family Guy will soon make it's triumphant return to Fox, and Futurama will NOT(Ha Ha). Giggity Giggity Giggity!
Rating: Summary: Another Great Futurama DVD Set Review: Here's more of the same, which is exactly what I want! Volume two continues Futurama's technique of taking comedic material to the Nth level. The stories are still inventive. The humor is still rich. A healthy knowledge of modern history and culture will help viewers' appreciation of the show. This is the kind of comedy that makes me laugh loud enough for other people in the house to approach and ask, "what's so funny?" When they stay to watch they, too, are laughing. There's so much to enjoy. Each Futurama disk comes with it's own slim case, which I think is great. I don't think volume two is any better than volume one. Not that it matters since both DVD sets offer fantastic laughs.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfull, witty, entertaining Review: Well you know the series, the dvd's are great! By the way, do we really need the vile, acrimonious, pre-adoloescent rants of cykillrenegade? Check out his profile and see what we he actually likes. Must be off his ritalin.
Rating: Summary: Futurama Will Keep us Laughing for Years. Review: I've always had a place in my heart for Futurama. In fact, it could probably beat the Simpsons as of late. Unlike Family Guy, another of my favorites, it didn't go over the top and wasn't usually offensive. So of course, I loved this set. It has 19 episodes on four discs. The picture and sound are both great. Episodes are: I second that emotion- Bender learns emotion. 4/5 Brannigan, Begin Again-Zapp joins planet express-3/5 A Head in the Polls-Bender pawns his body-3/5 Xmas Story- Future Santa Claus is evil-5/5 Why Must I Be A crustacean in love-Zoidberg attempts to mate-3/5 The lesser of two evils- Bender meets twin Flexo-4/5 Put Your Head on my Shoulders- Fry dates Amy-4/5 Raging Bender- Bender Boxes-4/5 A bicyclops built for two- Leela meets another cyclops-3/5 A clone of my own- Proffesor Farnsworth clones himself-3/5 How Hermes Requisitioned his Groove Back- nothing to say-5/5 The Deep South- Fry meets a mermaid- 4/5 Mother's Day- the robots rebel-4/5 The Problem with Popplers- Leela discovers a tasty new food-4/5 Anthology of Interest 1- 3 stories- 5/5 War is the H-Word- Fry and Bender join the army-4/5 The Honking- Bender is chased by a car-5/5 The Cryonic Woman- Fry's ex unthaws in the future-4/5 Buy this set
Rating: Summary: SHIZNIT... DVD overdrive Review: i played this for like a thousand hours and freakin broke by dvd player doing it. futurama. a boy named philip J. fry gets frozen and arrives in the year 3000. not much has changed except mutants, aliens, hover cars, transport tubes and A.I. The suffering, the humnanity, the alien race? That's right futurama is a starship of a son and back like never before with new episodes and yes! commentary and deleted scenes. I'm not forcing you to buy anythings, just get it!
Rating: Summary: Good bye Simpson's... Review: Futurama was a superior series over the Simpson's in every aspect. From animation and writing to bust your gut humor! How the Simpson's are still going and Futurama got canned is beyond me. After all, you can only hear Bart say "Eat my shorts, man!" so many times. Volume Two of Futurama is excellent. For sake of brevity I'll simply say that I thoroughly enjoyed every episode, and look forward to volume 3. If you haven't bought any of the Futurama sets, you need to start. Replay value of this show is very high as there are many jokes and sight gags that you miss the first and sometimes second time around.
