Rating: Summary: Some what disappointed Review: As an long time Andy Griffith fan, I was excited to receive this DVD to show my kids. However, I really was expecting the original source material to be broadcast quality like the episodes that WTBS showed several years ago. (They showed episodes that were in mint condition completely uncut, unlike the ones you see in syndication). This looks like they found some old 3/4" copy that was left in the cellar for a several years. The video is dim and washed out but the audio is OK. The opening fishing hole walk is not consistent in each episode and the whistling just doesn't sound like the original (In at least one it's left out completely). But other than that, you just can't beat the story content of these episodes. And besides, my kids didn't pick up any of that stuff that I found offensive!!
Rating: Summary: The best Andy Griffith DVD available! Review: Finally some of The Andy Griffith Show episodes have been released on DVD. Sure, these are six of the sixteen episodes that have been in the public domain and available from other companies for years, but the quality of these are the best you're gonna get! And these are the full, uncut versions unlike ones from another company that had previously released three episodes on disc. I praise LaserLight for doing what they can to bring classic TV to DVD. A great gift for any Andy fan with a DVD player. I also suggest LaserLight's DVDs of The Lucy Show and a Christmas Marathon disc which includes holiday episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies, Ozzie and Harriet, and The Jack Benny Show. I'd give this Andy disc 5 stars, but it does not include the original recording of the Andy Griffith Show theme music. They use a new recording of the same song, so it's almost as good... just not perfect.
Rating: Summary: Poor Quality - 5 minutes missing from one of the episodes! Review: I bought this DVD expecting to see some of my favorite episodes, and yes some of the episodes are uncut. But overall the picture quality is terrible, additionally one of my favorite episodes (the one with the English Butler) is missing 5 critical minutes of he episode where the butler talks about how he likes staying with Andy and Opie, but overhears Andy and Barney talking on the porch that night. The scene obviously is missing when the butler just disappears right in the middle of the episode.Watch TV land instead, and you'll get a better quality result.

Rating: Summary: Great content, poor quality Review: I've been a longtime fan of The Andy Griffith Show and I was excited to see some episodes released on DVD. Unfortunately, the video quality on this selection is EXTREMELY poor. It looks like the DVD was made from a dirty 16mm film; lots of abberations and gunk throughout. Even more disappointing is the fact that the original theme is NOT on this item. Instead, LaserLight decided to incorporate another version of "The Fishin' Hole" that is clearly not the original song. On a positive note, this DVD does contain the full, uncut episodes (unlike what we see on TVLand). All in all, this DVD gives one the notion that it was released with the intention of making some quick cash for LaserLight with no effort put forth on their part to present a quality product in return. I would LOVE to see a company release all of The Andy Griffith Show episodes on DVD that are original, uncut and of the same video quality as is seen with TVLand. When/if that happens I'll be the first in line. For now, however, we have to make do with these cheaply made releases on the market.
Rating: Summary: The First Season is Coming! Review: The Andy Griffith Show is a pretty good show. It's a shame that this DVD was botched because it does contain some good episodes but what's the deal with not including the original theme song and editing the episodes but now that this show is finally getting released in season by season sets and the first season is being released on October 12, 2004 hopefully the episodes will be unedited and the original theme will be included!
Rating: Summary: Why No Season by Season DVD Sets? Review: The Andy Griffith Show is a pretty good sitcom, it's a shame that this DVD was botched because it does contain some good episodes and I'm also very surprised that you can only find DVD's with a few episodes and that they haven't released season by season sets yet. And what's the deal with not including the original theme song? Hopefully if The Andy Griffith Show ever gets season by season DVD sets they will put the original theme song with the uncut episodes.
Rating: Summary: Disapointing... Review: The Andy Griffith Show is one of my favorite television shows... This DVD is not one of my favorites!! I bought it at Ross (heh...), I was excited and when I got home to watch it was terrible!! Yes, the shows are uncut, and the original air length, but the picture quality would porably sicken you!! If you want to see uncut episodes, you might want to buy this DVD, but if you want good quality, might as wee watch TVLand, or... find a different DVD>
Rating: Summary: Some what disappointed Review: This DVD has 6 of the best episodes from the TV series. The Andy Griffith Show is second only to "I Love Lucy" in re-run air play. That alone should tell us how popular those lovable country folks of Mayberry, S.C. are to all Americans. I have almost a daily dose of The Andy Griffith Show; check your TV Guide, it's on somewhere! Treat yourself to a visit to Mayberry, where a Sheriff without a gun handles all disputes with common sense, some Bible wisdom, and a slice of Aunt Bea's apple pie.
