Summary: 5 Stars For Encouragement
Review: I'm a little confused about which studio is putting this out, based on the information here, but what they hey! If there is anything underrepresented on DVD it is the Abbott and Costello body of work. That and all the great Laurel and Hardy films (not just the "lost" stuff that is out from Roach, welcome as that is). So this is a great start. Here's hoping the transfers are good and that it is the first of many sets that gives us the good stuff and all of it. And to whomever has the Laurel and Hardy rights, take a lesson here.

Summary: Eight Classic Movies
Review: This is definitely the way to go, if you're looking to collect the Abbott & Costello films. Word has it that Universal is going to release three volumes in the collection for under $25 each, which is a remarkable deal. I believe that Amazon should update its information though... based on what I'm reading in the trades, it won't be an eight disc set. Since you can fit more than 3 hours on a single sided disc, look for the studio to put two films on each side at full quality. (All of the A&C films are shorter than 90 minutes, I believe.) I see it as a plus because it reduces clutter and fits nicely on my shelf, but some people might enjoy the extra packaging of buying each disc separately. However, if you're looking for an inexpensive way to collect the BEST OF A&C, this is probably your best bet.

Summary: What is going on???
Review: At this price, I have to take the chance . . . if anyone finds out anything - please write a "review." I am going to take the chance, and hope the DVD trasnfer isn't complete garbage. At this price, how can I not? Anything Abbott & Costello did is CLASSIC. Absolutely classic. And anything on DVD will certianly be better than anything you are holding onto on VHS, so I recommend you give it a try. I'll let you know how it works out.

(I gave it 5 stars based on the material.)

Summary: This is a GREAT deal!
Review: I'm am utterly shocked that MGM is releasing these movies at this price. As long as the dvds are in nice quality, and they don't give us a cheap product, this may be the best bargain I've ever seen. ... In my opinion, this collection is a test product to see how future A n B movies should be released . . . meaning, if you don't buy this collection soon, you'll be paying 50 for it in about 6 months. Great deal!

Summary: Finally!!!!
Review: I used to watch A&C every Sunday morning when I was a child. Made me laugh every time, no matter how many times I watched it. Now I get to do it again...at the age of 42! This DVD is great. I also got Volume 2 and I can't wait for volume 3. They did an excellent job on the picture quality I must say. I give 4 stars only because I would rather have 4 dvd's instead of 2. They use both sides of the disk. But that's just my taste.

Summary: Abbott and Costello Vol 1 and Vol 2
Review: I grew up watching Abbot @ Costello and enjoyed very much all of there movies and there antics.
It was with disbelief, when I first saw what was available in that there was 8 quality movies on each Vol set.
It is a great bargin!
Best part is I have two daughters 5 and 9 that are now enjoying
these movies and we share non stop laughter.
My girls and myself look forward to Vol 3 being released.
Great entertainment for whole family

Summary: flawed dvd
Review: I tried to watch In the Navy and the picture started to break up and then eventually froze. It also froze my DVD player, and I had to power it off and then on to get the controls to respond. Another volume contains Naughty Nineties which refused to play at all. Frankly, this kind of poor quality is inexcusable and reflects a cavalier if not a willful and culpable attitude from the manufacturer. I could not recommend any of these A&C dvd's to anyone.

Summary: So far ,So good.......
Review: In spite of all the bad reviews regarding the quality defects of
the dvd's and the fact i own all the vhs tapes that took me years
to collect at $15.00 a pop,i took a chance and purchasedVol.1,2,3.
Just finished Vol 1 and had no problems with the dvd's at all.The
package is very attractive and the transfers are crisp, clear and
brilliant. The audio is very good for mono and its age.The trailers
are good and the production notes are informative. The one thing
that i noticed is the times on a few of the movies are off from
the dvd's to the tapes(the printed length),however the actual film
lenght matched the tapes,so nothing is missing! My tapes are still
in excellent condition, but still cant match the quality of the dvd
picture. Will let you know about Vol 2 and 3 when i finish, but so
far,so good!Great buy through Amazon.

Summary: good but not great
Review: i too had afreeze prblem on buck privates but brought it back and it works fine.my problem is with some of the films being rereleases.one night in the tropics is missing the original opening and closing title, but on the vhs release its original.buck privates is a re-art rerelease(just before end title) not on vhs.c'mon universal you own these films, why are you putting rerelease prints out for.and could you get te rights to the only a&c title not out it aint hay,it is a universal picture after all.actually it is out on a horrible duped vhs.other than that it is good value for the money.now if mgm or warners could put out the mgm titles.
