Summary: Maybe its the player but my DVDs are great!
Review: I can see that some people have had problems with their disks but I've got to say that I love this collection and have noticed no artifacts of any kind (my DVD player is a Toshiba). My old Samsung would have choked on them as it did on other disks. When I returned the Samsung and got the Toshiba, all of my disks that used to skip or drop out played error free.
My rating of the DVDs is excellent. I have waited a long time to get these shows (I used to watch them when they were first on and this is TV as it should be). As soon as the second season is ready I will be first in line to get it.
One bone to pick---I do agree with the reviewer who remarked that it was strictly bare bones. There is nothing but the programs here and if any DVD in my collection cries out for extras and documentation, this is it. That aside, the programs by themselves rate 5 stars with me.
Joseph Stefano PLEASE!!! get involved with the Season Two collection.

Summary: Outstanding
Review: I loved this series as a younger person and I love that it is now out on dvd.I have only watched a few of the episodes so far but from what Ive seen Im very happy with this set.Everything looks good and sounds good.Outer Limits is back and looking great.

Summary: Not quite what I was expecting...
Review: By cramming 32 episodes onto only four discs, MGM/UA saved themselves money but compromised picture and sound quality. The amount of compression required to fit so much material on so little space resulted in grainy images and tinny, harsh audio. They should have used eight discs instead of four. Several of the shows look too dark, especially "The Architects Of Fear" and "A Feasibility Study". I can't believe I'm the only person who noticed this??? To the reviewers who thought this was a great set, try comparing it to "The Twilight Zone" DVD's for picture and sound quality.

Summary: Poor DVC Copy
Review: I also have been having problems with this DVD and I have also tried it on multiple players. So far I've only played one of the DVDs and two of the episodes are nearly impossible to watch. Problems include: scenes hang, scene jumps back to the begining. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PRODUCT.

Summary: OUTER THIS WORLD
Review: I agree with the others that this is a great series. So far I have had no trouble with sound or picture but ive only viewed two dics so far. The writers of this series were brilliant. Even with 60"s special effects the plots are quite engaging. I cant wait for the second season. The picture is quite good. on The Galaxy Being my wife commented she could see the strands of hair on a womans close-up.

Summary: The Origional X-Files & one of the finest TV sci fi series
Review: As a child of the '70's TV syndication culture, I discovered The Outer Limits before The Twilight Zone, before Star Trek, and it never failed to rivet me to the set on Saturday afternoons. So when this box set came out, I was curious to see if it still held up.

It does. And my god am I glad I bought this. It's still great storytelling much of which is more sophisticated than my memories from 10 years old could appreciate. Besides, the origional B&W episodes kick the new series ass 50 times over.

MGM would be wise to release Vol. 2 soon. I'm already set to buy it.

My only complaint about this set is that there's no interviews or behind-the-scenes features about the writers, make up, or history of the show. On the plus side, I guess that helps the show retain it's air of forbidden mystery.....

Summary: Absolutely Fantastic
Review: Given the typical price of boxed sets vs. run time minutes......this DVD set is quite a bargain, capturing 32 exciting episodes ( 1st season ) on 4 double sided discs. Believe me.....a lot more could've been garnered for this set. If United Artists had chosen to package this series like the Twilight Zone ( 4 episodes per box )...this entire 1st season series would've cost considerably more. But over and above all that....this is a television series worth owning. Although somewhat dated...it still invariably holds your attention because of the superb writing. Many years have past since the airing of this series, and I still vividly remember a number of episodes. How many 40 year old series can you say that about ??? They were definitely unique, imaginative, and an absolute pleasure to watch. Now we can enjoy them all over again on DVD !!!

Summary: Shame on you UA
Review: I can not recommend this set at all, which is a terrible shame.

I love The Outer Limits but the Disk quality and mastering make this set totally useless.

I have tried this set on two different DVD Players and my computer and the sound will not stay in sync on any of them.

There is nothing more irritating or angering than to spend this much money on something you really love and have it ruined by the penny pinching of the studios.

If you can handle watching the mouths move and then a second or two later hear the word they spoke, then you might be able to watch this. But it is too jarring for me.

Shame on you UA- this was not a bargain bin set

Summary: Finally!!
Review: I just received this yesterday, and have been happily reliving my early teenage years with one episode after another.I was always partial to this series,as well as Twilight Zone,of course, and also One Step Beyond, and Thriller.I would love to have them all. This particular set is first rate..the quality of the DVD is exceptional,as is the sound.Much better,of course than watching it on our old TV back in the early '60's!Highly recommended!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Watch out for poor or unplayable DVD's in the set
Review: I love Outer Limits, however I have to echo what another reviewer wrote...watch out for bad DVD's in this set! One side of the first DVD in my set either would not play or the picture and sound were out of sync with dropped video in parts.

These disk are VERY sensitive to scratches. Even the smallest scratch on any of these disks and you will have playback problems.
Has to do with the type of disks MGMUA choose for this set. Not as reflective as some other better quality DVD disks, so your DVD player will have a hard time reading these disks if there is even the slightest defect (scratch, smudge, etc).
