Summary: Bubble-Headed Booby, Indeed!
Review: The temptation for me to buy the video tapes was great...but I held out in hope that someday a complete package like this would be released. At last, my hopes are being answered! If you have any fond memories of this series, the robot, Dr. Smith and the entire Robinson family, you've got to order this set NOW! Only if the first season sells well will they ever issue the second and third seasons....which were definitely for those with more eclectic tastes! Now if only Toho would do the same for their Godzilla series!!!

Summary: lost in space and found a new home
Review: My dvd player is waiting for the arrival of the jupiter 2 and crew for hours of exciting seriously-fun classic sci-fi. ''Warning,Warning''says the robot''aliens approaching''-well the fun just begins there with Dr.Smith and the robinsons and the great adventures in space to await us.[hours of fun] I can't wait for this treasured t.v.series on dvd.

Summary: LIS on DVD!
Review: I echo what has been said by the previous two reviewers, word for word. Uncut digital quality episodes of Lost in Space at a more than good price are a welcome treat. The first season is far and away for me the best of the three. The creative ideas and wonderful adventure written into these episodes, as well as values and morals woven into them is a breath of fresh air, especially by today's standards. I'll always be grateful to the writers, producers, actors, and others on the show for their contribution. Despite the fact that not all epsisodes may be rated as first class science fiction, many of the episodes in all seasons, I believe, rate among the best of science fiction.

THIS WILL BE JUST THE FIRST SEASON, SO ALL LOST IN SPACE FANS NEED TO BE SURE AN GET THE WORD OUT TO BUY SEASON ONE SO THAT 20TH CENTURY FOX HOME VIDEO WILL BE SURE TO RELEASE ALL 83 EPISODES. THE PICTURE QUALITY IS SO MUCH BETTER ON THE DVD FORMAT, AND AMAZON IS OFFERING THE SEASON ONE BOX SET AT A VERY FAIR PRICE. BRAD

Summary: At Last! At Last! At Last! At Last!
Review: OK, so its too early to actually do a rating and review on this. However I, for one, am excited that Lost in Space is finally being released on DVD and in such an affordable way. I started buying the tapes years ago and quit just because it was too expensive. To be able to get all three seasons for the price of ten tapes is more than great. Many of us have very fond memories of Lost in Space, and despite the general derision some people show toward the series, it will always hold a special place in our hearts. It will just be nice to have complete, uncut episodes to see again.

Summary: First Season Great, Second Season Delayed
Review: Just want to add my voice to all the other excellent reviews that have been posted here. The black & white episodes of LOST IN SPACE are fantastic! The latest word from 20th Century Fox is that sales of the first season boxed set have been good but not great. Consequently they are considering releasing the second season in two parts (15 episodes each), hoping that the lower price of each package will be more appealing to DVD buyers. The tentative release date for part 1 is this September. Whatever the date, it will be well worth waiting for.

Summary: Still great after all these years
Review: We spent the last couple of months watch a couple of episodes per week with our eight year olds. It was so great to have the whole season lined up. The kids loved it as much as us adults did. The stories continue to be entertaining, the characters great. The special effects routinely imaginative, cheesy and hilarious in this day and age. Tempo is perfect, monsters just the right scary for younger audiences. The DVD transfer is wonderful. The BW episodes have never looked so crisp and clean. Would have liked some more "behind the scenes" and retrospectives like you get with many movie DVDs. Either way, it is a great buy and will keep a family or a old fan entertained for the entire season. It would have been fun if they had included the original commercials (as an option).

Review: I bought this the day it came out. The next couple of weeks, I watched one or two episodes every night when I got home from work. I thoroughly enjoyed every episode. It gave me something to look forward to after a long days work. Dr. Smith rules!

Summary: "Oh,the pain....the pain..."
Review: I've been waiting a long time for this release on dvd.I LOVE this show and have watched it since I was very young. The other reviewers,here, have given excellent reviews for "Lost In Space" discussing what fun the series was (is)and I agree with them.The biggest appeal that the series has for me is the sense of unity within the Robinson family and the love and respect they shared for one another....something rare in today's television programming featuring more than dysfunctional families. This first season was LIS at it's best! There were many wonderful episodes from this season,most of which have already been mentioned here but a few of my other favorites are(in no particular order): The Attack of the Monster Plants(a surprisingly creepy and chilling episode.) the eerie "Ghost In Space" "The Oasis" which depicts our Space Family's struggle to survive a drought. "Island In the Sky" which features a spectacular and convincing crash landing of the "Jupiter 2" on the planet our space family is stranded on for the entire 1st season. I could go on and on but these are only a few of my faves.Yes,there were scientific inaccuracies through-out this season and even more in the following 2 seasons but who cares? It was 1965 and not a whole lot was known about outer space by NASA,let alone Hollywood television producers.This season started out with attempts at science fiction and did an entertaining job of it.The remaining 2 seasons moved to science fantasy which was fine too.I watch tv for escape not realism.Watch this series for the sheer entertainment and fun it offers.It is something for all ages of the family to watch together. OK,I have given my review of the series itself...now on to the review of the technical details of the dvd edition itself.
Packaging:Nice slipcover case with bright colors and a great picture of the Robinsons on a neat "starry space" background.However upon removing the individual cases from the slipcase,I thought I had received a bunch of bootleg copies! The individual cases are kind of colorless with a grainy blown up photo of a character from the series that look like they were printed with an inkjet printer! Couldn't Fox have at least continued the nice blue starry background on the individual cases.Did they run out of ink cartridges?
The sound/audio: OK for mono sound.There's no point to creating stereo sound for a series that was originally released in Mono sound. Picture/Video: Overall,I found the video transfer to be very disappointing as it is not as clear as it should be.I own the complete series (which was released on vhs a few years ago),and the video is about equal to those vhs tapes.C'mon Fox these are DVDS...couldn't you have done a better job? After viewing about half of these episodes and finding the picture quality less than acceptable,I did a bit of research on this release.It seems that when these episodes were released on vhs a few years ago,a master 1 inch video tape was made from the original 35mm prints.This 1 inch master video tape was then used to create the vhs releases. Instead of digitally mastering this dvd set from the original 35mm prints,the dvds were created from the SAME 1 inch master video tape that was used for the vhs sets.Guess what,Fox?...it shows. Let's hope that on the 2nd and 3rd season releases from this series, Fox takes the time and money to do it correctly.If I had wanted "vhs"quality I would watch my tapes and I wouldn't have bothered to spend my money on this shoddy and hastily manufactured product. Rating:I give the series "Lost In Space" itself 5 stars as the series is sacred.However,with the technical issues regarding video quality,I can only rate this particular dvd product with 3 stars.This classic tv series deserves the same care and attention in it's transfer to dvd as any other.I'm sure that all diehard LIS fans would agree with me.

Summary: Warning! Warning! Hokey fun approaching
Review: This series [TV-Series 1965-1968] is formulated on the old serial cliff-hangers. The stages are cardboard and Styrofoam. The props look like anything lying around in the ware house. From the dialog you would not realize that the actors can and are acting. As the programs progress the stories get weirder to holds your attention. There are also several notable guests including Robbie the Robot that always outsmarts "The Robot" (Bob May) The Robot's voice is Dick Tufeld.
We all know the basic story of a saboteur Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris) is too smart for his own good and his sabotage backfires from the start throwing the spaceship into who knows where with him trapped inside. What is worse is he never learns from episode to episode. Prof. John Robinson (Guy Williams) is the good guy father that is always giving one hope of being found or getting back. Maureen Robinson (June Lockhart) is the stereotypical motherly type and is caught occasionally stopping John from beating Zackary's brains out. We have mischievous kids always wandering off to discover the new trouble. And a watered down love interest between daughter Judy (Marta Kristen) and Major Don West (Mark Goddard).
How will they survive?
What strange creature or disaster will befall them this week?
Some one may have modified the media somewhat. "Oh, the pain, the pain." However we buy what we can.
