Summary: As good as it gets for Sketch Comedy
Review: French & Saunders mix very dry and quietly absurdist bits with shocking or silly outbursts that the Brits seem to excel at. But they have a fresh beat that can't be found anywhere else. They are just hilariously funny. How "Ab Fab" and Saunders solo work in things like "Shrek 2" can be recognized in the U.S. while this body of work is still laregly unknown to many fans of British comedy is beyond me. Saunders utilizes her understated sarcasm to brilliant effect and Dawn French is a comedy force of nature, a secene stealer of the first order. What a great team they are. If you like anything from the wave of '80s Brit Comedy ("Young Ones," "Black Adder," "Bottom"), you've probably already seem glimpses of these two in supporting roles. You should really pick up on this, too. You will not be disappointed. And, as a point of trivia, Saunders is married to Adrian Edmondson ("Vyvyan" of "Young Ones" fame) and French is married to Lenny Henry. Both appear in cameos on this collection.

Summary: Why can't they host the Oscars?
Review: French & Saunders, where Ab FAb came from, is the source of some of the funniest things I've ever seen. These dvds, while making reference to some British cultural references you won't understand, have some of the best parodies and sketch comedy ever. The Lord of the Rings parody is oscar-worthy itself. Dawn French is just amazingly funny all the time and makes me wonder why her or Ms. Saunders haven't made it here yet. Some times they are way off the wall and I think some skits are more for their own enjoyment than that of the audience, which can be a bit trying at times. Another classic however is the Rock Opera, with a great rendition of "I Should be so Lucky". These are not to be missed.

Summary: Simply the best...can we have more?
Review: The series of skits that started it all and inspired the series "Ab Fab." The girls are outrageous and campy and creative and crazy. Lots of satire and camped up fun...such a welcome addition to my collection of Brit-coms. You will definitely enjoy this series and thank God it was finally released on DVD and in one superb collection!!! If you love your brit-coms, be sure to add this one to your collection.
