Summary: High tech medium for the perfect classic
Review: Having seen this program on tv in Reykjavík, we could not wait until owning own copy. The book was excellent and this dvd disk gives it full credit. The story gives an insight into the live of the gentry on this period and I belive catches the spirit of the times. I would recommend this movie to anyone. The quality of the presentation on disk is superior to the VHS and this is definately the future medium for home video library.

Summary: This Version of Pride and Prejudice is the best version yet
Review: I was amazed at the accurate adaptation of Jane Austin's novel, especially compared to the other two versions I saw. They were not nearly as well done as this was. It's long, but it's worth the time. I watched it several times and I recommend that others do the same!

Summary: Wonderful performances and breathtaking photography
Review: This movie is for all of us who are constantly complaining about movie adaptations of our favorite books. It is almost word for word what Jane Austin intended. A must see.

Summary: Great entertainment for the WHOLE family--even Dads.
Review: I have to admit that I did not want to watch this movie when my wife and two daughters first suggested it. The thought of having to sit through 40 or more hours (slight time exaggeration) of a period piece seemed like pure dread to me. I finally agreed to watch the movie (over several nights) and I can honestly say that it is a terrific story!! The acting is suberb and the lessons revealed throughout the picture are a must see for any family (especially if the Dad is outnumbered, gender-wise). I recommend this movie for all to see--even Dads.

Summary: Superb, A Triumph of Film Adaptation
Review: If you have seen this film then you know what I am about to say. It is a wonderful story of two people who through thinking the worst of each other they find themselves to be so much alike that they fall in love. Mr. Darcy is so callous at first that you hate him, but as the story progresses you see a transformation that is undeniable. The way he looks at Miss Elizabeth Bennett from across the room, gives you the sense that he is not at all as callous as he seems. Elizabeth Bennett is the character with whom I most indentify. With an aserbic remark on the end of her tounge, she is always prepared to defend herself from the supposed hateful Mr. Darcy. But she soon falls in love with Mr. Darcy, and the viewers realize it before she does. They are destined to be together no matter their situations in life. I believe it to be an all around wonderful performance by everyone involved. I definitly stick by my 5 stars.

Summary: First-rate adaptation, probably the best ever of Austen.
Review: This is a marvelous production that truly captures the spirit and wit of Jane Austen's novel. Beautifully written, directed, acted and produced, right down to the fine music, performed by Melvyn Tan on the fortepiano. Certainly the best filmed version of any Austen novel; the extended length allows for full development of plot and character.

Summary: This is a book for all ages, all sexes, all people!!!!
Review: I can honestly say Pride and Prejudice is the best book I have ever read. Although it was written over 150 years ago, it still deals with the same ideas and problems we encounter today. The book is so witty that you will want to read it again and again. I instantly loved the character of Elizabeth Bennett. She is so sharp yet gentle at the same time. Mr. Darcy is the best character who has ever been created!! END

Summary: I recommend this video production to anyone
Review: 6 videos and 5 hours later you find yourself wishing there were more. You can't want for a better movie review than that. I had to appease myself by watching favorite parts over again. A great addition to any movie collection. If only Jane Austen had written her own sequel so that we could learn more about the lives of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy the way she would have imagined it. The actors have all done a marvelous job. An A-plus movie for the whole family. END

Summary: It is the most beautiful film i ever beheld
Review: My family ( my 2 daughters and myself ) saw the series on Belgian television first in 1997. We had to wait for 5 weeks before we knew whether Lizzy and Mr Darcy would fall in love. (I knew, because I already read the book several times, but I wouldn't spoil the fun). Then ,we travelled to England, just to buy the VHS, and we also found the book : "The Making of Pride and Prejudice". I already possessed the complete works of Jane Austen. My sixteen years old daughter is bewitched by everything remotely attached to Jane Austen and Regency. Of course we liked ( loved) Colin Firth and Jeniffer Ehle a lot. we are also desperately looking for similar non-austen books. END
