Summary: Absolutely Fantastic!!
Review: This is a wonderful arrangement of a fantastic novel. After viewing the DVD, I was immediately intrigued, and read the book. It took me only 4 nights and after finishing, my regard for both the DVD and book remained extremely high. I can't say enough good things about it. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle portray the personalities of Mr.Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett beautifully. Now, I can't wait to read more of Jane Austen's work!

Summary: Color quality is definitely uneven
Review: I was going to order the DVD, then saw all the concerns about the video quality. We own the VHS set, and I was able to obtain both the original and the new Special Edition versions of the DVD from the library. So, now that we've seen all three....
We found the color quality on the first release DVD to be the same as the VHS tapes. When we watched the new Special Edition, there are definitely scenes where the colors are overexposed or bleached out looking. I would say about 30% of the scenes are affected. I don't think this makes the DVD un-watchable-- you'd probably notice it in some scenes, but it doesn't jump out at you as a huge problem. (I think it is an annoyance, however.)
Bottom line: I found a copy of the original DVD release to buy. Because we're used to the VHS version, we prefer the richer colors of the old DVD to the widescreen foramt of the new one. Others may feel the opposite. I do suggest that you rent or borrow a copy (many libraries have it) before you buy......

Oh, and we think the program itself is outstanding!

Summary: A Great DVD to Stay In For
Review: If you like romance and witty conversation... this is great DVD to snuggle up with for a few hours. Buy it, you won't regret it!

Summary: I'M SO GLAD I WAITED FOR THIS DVD VERSION!
Review: I've owned the two tape VHS set of this finely made BBC miniseries for several years and had practically worn it out with repeated viewings. I held off converting to the DVD version mainly due to the high cost, and am I ever glad that I did! This newly released 2 disc set is a vast improvement over the previous one if for no other reason than it is letterboxed in 1:85/1 format which really brings the story and characters into much sharper focus. One of the features I love best about DVD is the ability to review old favorite films with a clarity of image and sound which makes the entire experiance new and rewarding, and this beautiful version of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE is a great example. Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth seem born to assay thier roles, leading a sterling cast of great British character actors in a spirited romp through the magnificent English countryside. Like Emma Thompson's award winning adaption of SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, this film really breathes life into Jane Austin's tale. It was well worth waiting to see it in this DVD transfer.

Summary: Beautiful...the miniseries in all of it's glory
Review: Five hours plus of Colin et al., need I say more... I thought this was just a wonderful DVD set. The color and picture quality on my DVDs were just great, perhaps I have a different edition than the people who have been disappointed in that regard. The Featurette was a nice surprise - women who love "Darcy's Dive" will be happy to see the extra shots of Colin filming that scene (it's not my favorite, but I certainly understand it's appeal!). If you loved the miniseries this DVD set is a must have!

Summary: The perfect Mr. Darcy
Review: This version does great justice to Jane Austen's work. Casting was well done overall but Colin Firth's portrayal of Mr. Darcy is flawless. This rates as the best film/TV production of P & P that I have ever seen. The special edition of the DVD has good picture quality. You may not be able to stop watching this.

Summary: DVD color is watchable
Review: I won't review the movie itself, it's wonderful. My comments are for the color quality of this new dvd version. Mine is just fine. I almost didn't buy it because of all the negative reviews on the color quality. My dvd is just fine. Yes, it is light in some scenes but you can certainly see the objects, they don't blend into one another. Never having watched this on TV or any other format, this dvd is watchable and enjoyable. I'm glad I made the purchase. And Colin Firth, that man is HOT!

Summary: I've worn out my tapes.
Review: I first saw the mini-series on A&E. The moment I saw it available on VHS I had to have it. I have since put quite a few miles on the six tape set and it is a bit worn out now. I'm very pleased to find it on DVD. The characters and performances are wonderful.

Summary: A hilarious adaption of Jane Austen's greatest novel
Review: You don't have to be an adult to appreciate this wonderful story of Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy. I am only fourteen, but I absolutely love this movie. The acting is so good. Each and every actor/actress does a perfect job of being the sort of people you imagine them to be in the book. Jennifer Ehle does a wonderful job of playing Elizabeth Bennett, especially when Lady Cathrine de Burgh pays her a visit toward the end. Colin Firth does an excellent job of being the very misunderstood Mr. Darcy. However, the best acting comes from Mrs. Bennett. She is so hilarious!! This adaption of "Pride and Prejudice" is definitely worth buying and no DVD collection is complete without it.

Summary: It's the best ever!!
Review: I just watched it on A&E over Christmas vacation. At first, I didn't really expect anything from the film, but after watching it, I fell in love with Colin&Jennifer. I read the book in high school, and I used to like Jane Eyre better, but now my admiration toward Jane Austen is exceedingly high. I didn't have VHR or DVD, therefore it's a torture waiting for the next series. Before watching the movie, I honestly don't know who Colin or Jennifer, but now I sure would like to see more of them in similar roles.
