Mountain Man Magoo

Review: While certainly not the best version of Mr. Magoo, this 1977 Saturday Morning show has it's moments. If you haven't seen it before, Mr. Magoo is pretty much a one-joke show: Mr.Magoo doesn't have any awareness of what's going on around him, which is blamed on his eyesight. The amazing thing is that no matter what happens, he always comes out without a scratch. It's funny if you can put it into perspective: the creators aren't making fun of people who are nearsighted, but the joke is that Magoo is so stubborn that he is 100% convinced that how he percieves what's going on is what's really happening. (I'm nearsighted, but I'm not offended by these cartoons at all.) To try to keep kids interested, they gave Magoo a nearsighted dog, Mc Barker and would sometimes put Magoo in 1970's Saturday Morning show storylines, like haunted houses and UFO stories, and let him just walk through them unaware, thinking he's in some mundane situation. If you like Mr. Magoo, you should enjoy this DVD.
