Rating: Summary: Weigel - an unfortunate looking woman, "confused" Dangle... Review: ...And a hooker, pile of garbage that would make even Satan weep, just some of the things that make this show memorable. The first time I watched it, I thought "Well, it's funny." Then I watched more of it, and realized that this is a masterpiece of improv. Buy this if you haven't.
To some that claim they paid too much for this to have the nudity and cursing cut out, I have a following message: This is why you buy it at Wal-Mart the week it comes out, when it's $15, not $25.
Also, I feel that the fact they blur out nudity and cut out cursing is great because it gives it more of a sense of reality show we see on TV, like the Cops.
All in all, just an awesome show, great season one - even with Mexican werewolves sneaking into the country and selling extacy to kids - and even a better season two coming up.
Rating: Summary: Consistently Hilarious Review: Few comedy shows are as consistently hilarious as "Reno 991!". It's a strangely character-driven parody of the original "reality show," "Cops," and it pays off week after week. Comedy Central keeps moving the episode times around, so this DVD will make it easy to watch the episodes back to back. Only about 6 episodes were made in the original season, so I am really looking forward to the extras that will be available on the 2-disc DVD. Hopefully more material featuring Garcia. "Star of Daniel!" is one of my favorite lines ever.
Rating: Summary: It'e Even Funnier than "Cops..." Review: For the longest time I always felt that the funniest sitcom on TV was Cops. Where else do you see trailer park trash, redneck lovers in bars and crossdressing hookers on one show? Oh, wait, Jerry Springer, Maury, Ricki Lake... Well anywho at first glance the show looks like a rip-off of Cops. It seems, at first, almost to be real, but whooo! Thank the lord its not a real police department.
The first season is very funny. It is a little rough in spots, but all in all it is a hysterical look at police shows, our desire to watch 'real' TV, and the lengths some people actually would go to get on national TV. It is offensive, yes, but what good satire isn't going to offend someone. People who are thin skinned stay away. Opened minded enjoy!!!
Rating: Summary: the state Review: hey reno 911 fans. a few reno cast members did a show called the state in the 90s. it was hiliarious. they did like three seasons. look into it. youll love it.
Rating: Summary: Good as it can get. Review: I honestly can't remember any episode where I didn't laugh. This is possibly the best unscripted show next to Mad TV and SNL. Although I can't compare Reno 911 to those show's because Reno 911 is only a 30 min show it sometimes is funnier than an whole hour of snl or mad tv. I am also excited because the price is awesome $22 for Season 1. How cheap can it get? that is how all seasons for all shows should cost. I think there won't be any extras on the DVD seeing as how there are only 2 discs. There most likely will be extras on the upcoming seasons.
Rating: Summary: Yay! It's here! Review: I love Reno 911. Its hilarious. The fact that its unscripted makes it even funnier. Each character adds their flavor to the show, making it funny in their own way. I can't wait until the DVD is released. The cast commentary will be great, I know it. You know people love this show, because its coming back for a second season (YAY!). Listen to the fans- its a good show, and we all know it.
Rating: Summary: "What other kind of job can you do with a hand??" Review: I'm a huge fan of the aforementioned sketch-group "The State" -- they did truly brilliant comedy and imploded messily and, for a while, it looked like they were all going to fade away in a sea of candy bar commercials, bit parts, cult movies and talking heads on VH-1 specials.
But fortunately members of the group are together again - Thomas Lennon, Kerry Kinney and Ben Garant (with occasionally appeareances by Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black and others) - and the result is some of the best comedy on TV.
A "COPS" parody initially seemed to me like a) beating a dead horse and b) beating an obviously dead horse. Somehow, though, with sharp improv, clever jokes and a tendency to play gags as straight as possible, the ensemble (which also includes the great Wendy McLendon McCovey and Cedric Yarbrough) elevates this show to an almost "Simpson"-esque level of observed humor, satire and social commentary. One of the reasons the characters work so well is that they almost always do the *wrong* thing... and yet we can totally understand why.
It's rare that a TV show actually brings tears of laughter to my eyes but "Reno 911!" seems to do it on a regular basis - in Season 1 it was stuff like the gang of kids in the cemetery during the Halloween episode, the unit's scavenger hunt and the unlikely verbal ability and dancing skills of a drunk-driving cowboy.
Rating: Summary: Bad Boys Bad Boys - What ya gonna do? Review: RENO 911 is a hilarious spoof of COPS. Set in Reno it follows a rag tag group of inept police officers as they fumble and fall all over the place! It's a lot of fun, and surprisingly well done. Each episode is about 20 minutes of the whackiest footage you will see - shot on video exactly like COPS. My favorite character has to be Lt. Dangle with his "Daisy Duke" shorts and penchant for going undercover as a female prostitute (on his day off!). Amazingly all the lead actors play both the cops and the criminals for the most part! A wig and a well placed blur usually means someone in the cast is pulling double duty. It's like COPS meets SPINAL TAP! But surprisingly as the stories develop you grow to love this group of enforcement misfits! The DVD set shows you all of season one's episodes in order! Which is a great bonus since they aired somewhat out of order on Comedy Central initially. You noticed this the most with Clementine as her pregnancy didn't unfold in the correctly in the original airings. You get commentaries from the cast on the episodes - including some truly funny "hidden" commentaries which can be found by highlighting the push pins on the photos in the menus. It's a great set for a great show!
Rating: Summary: Mildly Amusing Review: RENO 911 is a mildly amusing parody of COPS. The batting average for jokes is about two out of ten are laugh out loud funny, but the rest of it does generally make you smile. Like all of Comedy Central's other shows, the thing is low budget, but I suppose that's part of the charm. As another reviewer has said, close on the heels of this release a true classic police parody is finally being released on DVD: SLEDGE HAMMER!
Rating: Summary: this show is a hoot!!! Review: Reno 911 is one of the funniest things i have seen on comedy central so far. the cast is extremely talented, the characters are truly hilarious. i love Niecy Nash as "TT" and Kerri Kenney is fabulous as Jackie the crack addicted prostitute. my favorite episode has got to be when Garcia and Raineesha wind up in the hot tub together!!! this dvd is a great value for its price-well worth it for fourteen episodes plus extras. this is truly one of the great comedy series of all time!
