Rating: Summary: Great Show from the 80s Review: This was the best show on TV in the 80s and would [beat] most the stuff we have to endure now.My brother and I used to watch this show religiously with my father every friday night like people who go to church on sunday. I would love for nothing more than it to be released on DVD in season boxsets getting the enitial movie intro on DVD would be cool but it would only make me thirsty for the season releases. The show had really great characters that you got to know. It had plenty of action but it was a story about mateship and helped you understand not just about fighting battles but living your life in amongst a war.My favourite character was louis he was only small but he had the M60 and was always wise cracking about how big and dumb baker is.
Rating: Summary: Not Released, but it should be! Review: This was a defining series of my childhood. Sure, much of it would be considered corny by many so-called "sophisticated" liberal types, but I actually learned a lot from the show. Being both an historian, and in the military (Guard), I can see much relevance to what was portrayed. Many issues were tackled in the show, relevant even more so now that we're involved in so many non-conventional campaigns. I could hardly believe when I heard the phrases "hearts and minds" and "pacification campaign". This show told it down and dirty in the trenches with the soldiers. It was as real as a network TV show can be I believe. (If TV becomes too real... where do we go for our daily dose of fantasy to escape our own reality? Do we just exchange realities with others?)Walker
Rating: Summary: ToD-WOW Review: I used to love this show as a kid. I used to watch it together with my dad when it aired on Norwegian television. It was so exciting! If you've missed this show in the past, you sure should not miss it this time. It is great!
Rating: Summary: You have my vote Review: Growing up an Army brat, I always enjoyed watching war movies with my dad. And this show was one of our favorites. Hopefully when and not if this gets put out on DVD, it'll be in my collection. Please hurry.

Rating: Summary: In your face realism Review: The series was popular amongst my platoon. We used to watch it everyday at lunch. Throughout each episode comments would fly about how that was like this or how the same B.S. that went on then is still goin on now. A DVD of this series is a must.
Rating: Summary: must see series Review: Stellar story writing, acting and realism all in one series. THIS is the TV series that caused me to buy my first VCR and record as many of the episodes as I could. The guys I know who served in Viet Nam tell me this is the most realistic depiction they've seen the war they lived through. Unfortunately, I don't have the initial several episodes and there appears to be a missing episode near the end of the series. I would truly LOVE to get this on DVD! Please!
Rating: Summary: Full series release please. Review: Tour of Duty is simply a wonderful series. It has always been my hope that they will release all the series on DVD !!! It has become quite a cult to get your hands on all the episodes and my collection is still not complete. With all the unbelievable oddness that gets put on DVD and released these days surely they can do us the honour of putting out all the Tour of Duty episodes and not simply the first film. Here in the UK its very popular and the series is a timeless cult classic.
Rating: Summary: real war experience for ones who haven't seen the series Review: I vividly remember the title song Paint it Black beating while Huey flies with full ammo pouring down the enemy field. Anybody who went to the Army knows the authenticity of the drama unlike some hollywood war movies. Others who never been to the service should see this movie just to appreciate those who sacrificed their lives under the orders not knowing that the people of their own country would dishonor them.
