Rating: Summary: I love Kevin Smith in a totally platonic way, but. . . Review: My nephew thought these cartoon's were hillarious, and maybe you will too, if you're a Kevin Smith fan. I thought that Kevin and his merry band of rebels stretched themselves a little too far with this effort. There was so much going on in the dialogue its a little hard to follow. It was difficult for me to tell when I should be laughing, and at what exactly. Or maybe there were so many things to laugh at I just sat there speechless. Unfortunately, I don't think it was that funny. I recommend any of the movies, and the new release "An Evening With Kevin Smith" but as for this cartoon, I suggest renting it before you buy it. Maybe you will laugh your [rar] off, I thought it was, in a word, stupid.
Rating: Summary: very good Review: Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier brings Jayson Mewes, Jeff Anderson, and Brian O'Halloran back to life as Jay, Randall and Dante in a cartoon. It is extreamly funny, if you already are a fan of Kevin Smith's work: Clerks, Mallrats, Charsing Amy, Dogma, and Jay and Slient Bob Strike Back, some of them already considered classics (Clerks and Chasing Amy)... and some of them considered collosal bombs (Mallrats). If you don't already know Smith's other work you may just consider it all some kind of weird Simpsons rip-off. It is that, of course, but it is also a lot more than that. A better comparison might be to the campy Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV Show... Sometimes it looks stupid, but then, that is the point to a large extent. If you get and like Buffy, then you will probably like and get Clerks the Cartoon, as well as the rest of Smiths work.
Rating: Summary: Not Kevin's Best Work Review: On my list of top 20 movies of all time, at least 4 of them are Kevin Smith's. I *LOVE* his work. That said, I found the Clerks animated series to be boring. The stories were slow and repetitive. The jokes were sophmoric and tedious compared to his usually intelligent humor. I just couldn't get into it. I know what you're thinking, "Jay and Silent Bob? Intelligent humor?!" Ok, so maybe intelligent isn't the word, but it's humor for intelligent people. Compare and contrast with, for example, Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler. Still often VERY funny, but it doesn't take a much wit to get the jokes. This disk was more like that kind of humor.
Rating: Summary: Eh - it's not so bad. Review: I have to admit that I thought this DVD would be alot more interesting than it was. It's kind of sad that it was so tame compared to the movie. Maybe, just maybe, if I had never seen the movie, the animated series would have seemed hilarious to me. It's still an interesting watch, even if it doesn't make me blow soda out of my nose. My 5 yr old likes it. :P
Rating: Summary: A CARTOON REMAKE OF A HILARIOUS FILM Review: Not bad film has Dante,Randal,Jay,and Silent Bob drawn like they look in the real film, the cartoon features less profanity but crude sexual humor is still in this film.awesome film, buy the dvd.
Rating: Summary: "Nothing can kill The Grimace!" Review: Ah, remember the summer of 2000? Reality TV dominated our sets. Whether it be Survivor or Big Brother, there was certainly an abundance of it. And lost in the midst of it all was this treasure. Clerks, the failed animated series based on the Kevin Smith film of the same name, lasted a mere two episodes on the ABC network before having it's plug pulled. But alas, they had more than just two episodes, there were six all together, and all six of them are right here, uncensored, on DVD, for your viewing pleasure. A lot of Smith fans questioned if the transition from an R-rated "potty humor" movie to a nationally syndicated primetime animated series was logical, or even funny. Well, rest assured, it is. The witty writing, the clever pop-culture references, the odd usage of celebrities, it's all here. No Kevin Smith fan will be disappointed. The animation on the series is flawless and all 6 episodes are hilarious and diverse. If this show had been given it's fair chance, we'd still be watching it today. All 6 episodes come with commentary by Smith and friends, where towards the end, Smith vents about his distatse for a certain thin-mustached lawyer. We are also given a few animatics (animated storyboards) and some little "making-of" featurettes. A definite must-buy for any Kevin Smith fan.
Rating: Summary: Funniest Show Ever (second only to the simpsons) Review: this is a hilarious show. having never seen it when it originally aired on ABC but i did manage to catch it when it aired during March and April on Comedy Central. I didn't manage to see all of them when they aired on Comedy Central so i decided to take the plunge and purchase the whole series on DVD. Having been a fan of Kevin Smith for a while now i expected a lot and i have to say it delivered. This show in my opinion should still be on the air. It has wit and an uncanny ability to poke fun at everything and everyone. I just could imagine what they could have done jokes about when Star Wars Ep. 2 came out or the jokes they could do about the upcoming Matrix reloaded. All in all this is a steal of a deal...buy it now and you will not be dissappointed. BIG AMERICAN PARTY
Rating: Summary: Pretty decent.. Review: ..but not worth retail. Dig thru a used DVD store and pick it up if you find it there.
Rating: Summary: Treats for the fans! Review: I really like this cartoon series since I'm a fan of the view askew universe and it's good humor. It's a two disc uncencsored set containing all 6 episodes (only six since the network kicked the series off instantly and the time slot was very awkward for an animated series to be played on television) and a funny intro by Jay and Silent Bob for each episode. Pretty Cool!
Rating: Summary: Can anyone give a good reason why this show wasn't a success Review: In the time of ... a slew of the most pathetic television shows ever made, it's really no surprise that this show was not a success. But, in a normal world that enjoys good quality entertainment, and off-the wall hilarity, this would be the top show. Unfortunately we don't live in the kind of world with respectable television shows. We live in the age of heartless exploitations of people in what we call reality TV shows. Clerks is funny, there is no doubt about it. This DVD is probably one of my most prized posessions. Even though alot of the ideas are not original ... it is still 3 hours of non-stop laughter...
