Summary: Perfect Addition to Kevin Smith Collectors!
Review: This new 2-disc Clerks: Animated Series Uncensored DVD is an amazing addition to any Kevin Smith fan! The 2 DVD set contains all 6 uncut episodes of the Clerks animated series, which is good since only 2 of the episodes aired on TV, out of order I might add. The episodes are shown in the order they are supposed to be in, so they don't confuse us with unseen footage.Aside from all the half-hour episodes, we get a bevy of extras. First up is a commentary track for each episode that includes Kevin Smith, Scott Mosier, Dave Mandel, Chris Bailey, Jason Mewes(Jay), Brian O'Halloran(Dante), and Jeff Anderson(Randal). We then get 2 featurettes, one covering how they wanted the same style of the Clerks movie in the tv show, and the other covering the development of the characters. We also get a trailer and a TV spot, introductions to each episode by Jay and Silent Bob, animatics for each episode, and loads of DVD-ROM material. All-in-all, this is a great addition to the View Askew collector. The only gripe I have about the whole series is that because it was made for TV, that the bad language is minimal, but the shows are still hillarious because they capture the essence of the film(quick dialouge, and unique conversations). This is only a tiny scrape on what is one of the best View Askew DVD's ever.

Summary: This show is TOO GOOD for TV!
Review: I can't believe that this series was cancelled after only 2 episodes. God, I hope someone got fired for that one. This has got to be one of the funniest shows I've ever seen, and I haven't even seen the original Clerks. After viewing this DVD, I paln on buying the original. If it's anything like this, it's worth it. There are 6 episodes on the DVD, and all are excellent. The funniest moment is the last half of episode 4: it's a total spoof of Pokemon, and I was on the ground laughing. There's also some cool extras on the DVD, including a couple of featurettes, a film festival trailer for the series (this is a great trailer: it totally bashes the series, which is very funny), a promo which aired during the Super Bowl, trailers for the original Clerks, Chasing Amy, and Princess Mononoke, and best of all: commentary by Kevin Smith and the voice actors for each episode. Lately, TV has seen a lack of good shows(for the love of God, Survivor 2 absolutely , and it's a shame that Clerks: The Animated Series is no longer on the air. But this DVD moree than makes up for it.

Summary: I can't quite put my finger on it...
Review: Maybe it was the fact that it was produced to be aired on network TV, and thus hadda be extensively watered down to conform to broadcast TV standards (translation: none of the sicker and profanity-laden adult-oriented material that made the movie that this series was based on so freakin' funny was used). Or it coulda been the endless array of pop-culture references and inside jokes that didn't seem to go anywhere-- well, except perhaps for a couple relating to Star Wars. Or maybe it was the smattering of interesting concepts and ideas for comedic situations that weren't developed to their fullest effect in the finished product. Or it might've been the repetition of certain gags that weren't all that funny the first time 'round (great example: the "climbing-up-the-side-of-the-building-using-a-rope-a-la-the-classic-Batman-series" gimmick that plays out about a half-dozen times in the first episode alone). Personally, however, I'd say it was all of the aforementioned factors (and others) that combined to make the animated Clerks series rather... well, uninteresting in my eyes. I got a few light chuckles here 'n' there-- the high point being the 'Lawsuit' eppie guest-starring Judge Reinhold and ending with a hyperactive jab at Japanese anime-- but overall the Clerks 'toon lacked the "big laughs" and "irreverent comedy" the video box blurb claimed this "outrageous anthology" possessed. Oh well, at least I've got Kevin Smith's movies to fall back on in case I need some real laughs... Actually, there was one pop-culture-reference/in-joke dealie that I got a real good laugh out of, but only because it was so unintentionally ironic. One of the eppies featured a Happy Days flashback where the Fonz jumps his motorcycle over a shark tank (a moment that actually happened on Happy Days, BTW). This event is the origin of the term "jumping the shark", a term that refers to the point in the life of a TV series where the show has hit its highest point, and the quality starts going downhill rapidly into the oblivion of cancellation from that point. I'd explain the whole thing in further detail, but I think you get where I'm goin' with this. Summary: "Clerks" enters the toon world
Review: WARNING! If your DVD player is more than a few years old, these discs may give it trouble. My own trusty Toshiba SD-3006 refused to play them. Oh well, I wanted a PlayStation 2, anyway. But enough technicalities for now. Clerks Uncensored is essential for any Kevin Smith fan. It features all six episodes of the "Clerks" cartoon series originally created for ABC (which ended up airing only the fourth and second episodes, in that order). It also includes a raft of extra material, as any View Askew aficionado would expect. Each of the episodes, three per disc, has an alternate audio track containing running commentary by cast and crew. (In one memorable moment, Kevin Smith talks about making the decision to go with ABC over other networks, and wanting to grab the metaphorical brass ring: "Folks, I'm here to tell you right now, f*** the brass ring.") There's also an alternate video track showing the "animatic" storyboards for each episode. Each episode is introduced by new live-action vignettes featuring Jay and Silent Bob--not good for much more than a chuckle, but hey. You can also look at the scripts synchronized with the episodes if you're fortunate enough to have a DVD-ROM drive for playing them on your computer (I'm not, so I can't verify this). Elsewhere on the discs, there are promo spots and a making-of featurette. Bottom line: is the series funny? Okay, maybe not the funniest thing ever seen on TV. But it's got its share of belly laughs and enough movie references (and toon references!) to keep film geeks happy. And it's great to hear all of the original actors from the movie doing the voices for their characters. What makes it "Uncensored"? Some gags were snipped from the two episodes that aired, due to ABC's cold feet; these are restored on the disc in their original form ("Flintstone's List" gets my vote for the funniest). And, as you might expect, there's plenty of coarse language in the commentary and extras. Ironically, the commentary itself is not entirely uncensored; the participants fall over themselves trying not to mention ABC or anyone connected with the network by name, presumably due to legal entanglements. Brass ring, indeed. If you're still building your Kevin Smith collection, Clerks Uncensored has everything you could ever want. Yes, even a cameo by Walt Flanagan. Noonch.

Summary: Great stuff for Clerks fans ...and ABC haters!
Review: This was Kevin Smith's failed attempt to get Clerks out to the masses as an animated series. ABC canned it after only two airings. ABC had no clue what they bought when they optioned this thing. Is it funny? Yes! It's f-ing hysterical! However, it wasn't really meant for ABC. ABC did its best to run it in the ground by airing the episodes out of order, they showed episodes 4 and 2 in that order when 2 was built upon and relied on episode 1 to make sense! View Askew fans need this as a part of their collection because of 1: It's really funny, even though it's toned down for TV and in color. Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson did a really great job bringing Dante and Randall to "life" in this. To truly appreciate the job they did you need to see all the episodes in order. Especially the last one in which they blast ABC with both barrels. 2: The DVD commentary track has all the dirt on what happened between Smith and co. and ABC. It's a great abject lesson in how the corporate mentality can ruin a good thing. That and bad Korean animators... There are also some really funny live sequences before each episode with Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith and Jeff Anderson. The little Jay and Silent Bob activity shorts are pretty funny too, even if they are a bit disturbing (O lord Satan I offer up this girls soul...). All in all a great 2 DVD set well worth the money. I only gave it 4 stars because there's no cursing and it's in color and the villains are reminiscent of Mr. Burns and Smithers (Doh!)

Review: this show is on comedy central @ 12:00 am on Sundays,if your willing to stay up that late.... than watch it. Its awsome. If you liked the kevin smith movies (clerks:the black and white movie, mallrats, chasing Amy, dogma, or Jay And Silent Bob Strike back) than you will like this too. If you havent seen it trust me its good, pick up this DVD today. the best episode is the discreto buritos 1, if youve seen it youll know wut im talkin bout.

Summary: Wild and twisted spin-off of the classic film.
Review: I for one was a little ticked off that this show didn't get a fair chance at success. Canceled after only two episodes, Kevin Smith's animated take on his cult-film CLERKS is fabulously twisted and extremely off-the-wall in a way that makes even the most wild Simpsons episodes seem tame. That's not to say it's ground-breaking in any way. If you've seen the movie, you will be well-prepared (and a little disappointed) for the show. Gone are the highly profane conversations and in their place are some truly inspired riffs on pop culture (at least two dozen movies are poked and prodded and satirized in the 6 episodes contained on the discs). The principle characters are all here: Dante, Randal, Jay, Silent Bob - even Steve-Dave and Walt - and they are all voiced by the same people who played them in the film. Some major celebrity talent lends some support as well, with Alec Baldwin, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Charles Barkley (in the most hilarious cameos ever filmed, er, drawn... watch for his appearence next to Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin Skywalker in episode 5, it's great!). But what's truly great about this series is the amount of love and care that went into this DVD set. Each episode contains commentary by Smith, series producers Scott Mosier and Dave Mandel, Brian O'Halloran (Dante), Jeff Anderson (Randal), Jason Mewes (Jay), and supervising director Chris Bailey. Listening to them discuss everything from animation styles to behind-the-scenes politics and dealings with CBS lawyers is awesome and often pretty hilarious. I didn't think anyone would have ever thought about adding commentary tracks to stuff like this but I'm really glad they did. Also you get some great production material, detailing character design specifics which might seem boring but is really quite outstanding viewing for any die-hard CLERKS fan (some of the conceptual artwork is gut-busting all by itself). So if you've never seen the show before but like the movie, this is a great purchase. Heck, even if you've never seen the movie but are fans of Kevin Smith films this is a great purchase. Heck, even if you've never heard of Kevin Smith before... well, you get the idea.

Summary: Long Time Kevin Smith Fan Outraged by ABC Gets Retribution
Review: Yes, I consider this DVD a form of retribution. ABC's cancelling of Clerks:TCS was a slap in the face of fans of funny but intelligent TV everywhere. It was cancelled because a couple of programming directors, Stu and Lloyd, showed the series to an ABC exec and the humor went over his head. Before that time, the programming lacking(when the series was commissioned, ....a Millionaire? didn't exist)ABC was all for the series and Kevin. But the DVD makes up for it all, with the typical amount of extra stuff thrown in to make it more the while. That is besides the uproariously funny series itself( I watched a lot of unaired content at the site over the summer when the show aired, and Flintstone's List and the different show openers, especially the Matrix spoof, are a must see!)! The episodes in their entirety, the dialoge by Kevin, Mewes, Brian and Jeff, and others, plus the unediting of it all make this a slap in the face of both network servers and ABC. Definitely a must buy for anyone seeking a good laugh, and a no-brainer for View Askew fans such as myself

Review: i liked this a lot more than jersey girl,chasing amy, dogma, jay and silent bob strike back and even mallrats. abc never should of cancelled it, the only thing i didn't like was in the discreto burrito episode they make fun of quentin tarantino(completely uncalled for and unnecessary)also this "uncensored" thing does'nt mean much. the only thing they'd need to censor (nudity) is censored but other than that, pure genius, almost as good as the film it was based on

Review: hey what you doin here.....this dvd contains all episodes to the animated series clerks.sadly it ended without that many episodes.i can't beleive it ended i liked that episode. it made me laugh so hard and im usually the one that makes people laugh.
