Rating: Summary: THE GREATEST! Review: Although, I was not even thought of when Sanford & Son was on television, I fell in love with this sitcom. I think it is my favorite show. All of the actors were talented, and its just hilarious. I absolutely recommend this to everyone who loves old comedic sitcoms. The best parts of the show are always "dummy" Especially, on the episode "here comes the bride, there goes the bride" Fred S a n f o r d . haha mouths dummy dummy dummy when the bride finally shows up. I recently went on a cruise, and on days at sea watched this in my stateroom non stop, it never fails to entertain me. Now, if they'd just release Diff'rent strokes on dvd*if they have not already* I'll be satisfied.
Rating: Summary: Sanford And Son Review: As a long time fan of Sanford And Son, I was glad that the seasons finally came out on dvd. The quality is outstanding and I love the fact that they were not edited and are uncut, Unlike the versions you see on TVLand. I SURE hope Season Six will come out soon as then I will have to whole complete S&S.
"I'm coming to join you elizabeth, With a 5th of ripple in my hand".
Rating: Summary: THE Best Comedy...PERIOD! Review: What can you say about Sanford and Son? It is the best comedy ever produced! Like All In the Family, Sanford is a ground breaking series. The DVD sets, seasons 1 thru 5 are a must for S&S fans. All episodes are UN-CUT, what you see on TV (except original airs) are episodes with approx. 5 minutes cut from each episode. The trivia and quotes section is great. The picture quality and sound is A-1. BUY IT YOU BIG DUMMY!
Rating: Summary: Here Comes The Big One Review: This first season of Sanford and Son is the best! The episodes are hysterical, with Fred up to his usual old tricks, and Lamont being a big dummy. Get this and enjoy a good laugh.
Rating: Summary: My all time favorite. Review: This is the season that changed the face of television. No longer were african-americans placed in the supporting role as Redd Foxx marched the show to the top of the charts with his antics. "Five across your lips" and "This is the big one" soon became household punchlines. Never before has a show impacted television as this program demonstrated life from the ghetto and how people, regardless of race, are really all the same!!!!
Rating: Summary: the comedic stylings of Redd Foxx Review: "Sanford and Son" was an American version of a British show "Steptoe and Son." The premise is the antics of junkman Fred Sanford and his son Lamont. Most of the episodes in the first season were basically adaptations of "Steptoe and Son" episodes.Nevertheless, you get the entire first season here and it's worth every penny. Obviously, this show was ahead of its time and un p.c. as well. One significant plus with this first season is that you will get each episode in its entirety. TV Land obviously has to edit out certain parts (ie Fred using the N word)for today's audiences. You also see the evolution of Fred and Lamont, along with Fred's buddy Melvin(played by longtime Redd Foxx partner Slappy White), and see early nemesis' of Fred like Aunt Hazel (Esther didn't appear until season two). All of the episodes are excellent, with my favorites being "Piano Movers", "Happy Birthday, Pop" "We Were Robbed", and "Color TV." I can't emphasise how important this show was in the realm of pop culture and some of the issues tackled are still relevant today. Nothing like this will ever hit the airwaves again. Pick up the Season 2 and 3 sets as well.
