Summary: BEST #2
Review: This is the best comedy on TV - anywhere in the world, not just the UK. But, COUPLING might be TOO British for the Yanks over here in the States to fully embrase. The tried to do a US version over here and it tanked, because they missed the wit of orginal even though they used the same scripts - it's all in the execution.

Forget buying FRIENDS on DVD - buy COUPLING. It's kind of a SEINFELD/FRIENDS fusion with British dry wit.

Where is SEASON 3?

Summary: A mixture of friends and sex and the city
Review: This is the funniest show ever. Jeff really reminds me of me and thats kinda scary. Every one should watch this show and they will laugh there bottoms off.

Summary: The Great Original!!
Review: This is the original British show that NBC attempted to remake.

Coupling focuses on how the relationship between Steve and Susan develope, and it is based on how Steven Moffat (writer) and Sue Vertue (producer) got together. Their friends and ex-partners are also around to provide somewhat insane (but partially true) insights into relationships.

With season two, Coupling begins to take more risks with its humor. More risque and bold. First season seems a little tame compared to this DVD. The third season goes even further than this one. Season 2 has 9 episodes.

{Amazon deleted my episode details. Sorry, I guess they didn't like my summaries.)

The commentaries are good. Steven Moffat is the only one in all of the commentaries. Sue Vertue, Ben Miles, Kate Isitt, Sarah Alexander, and Gina Bellman are among the ones who can be heard in some of the commentaries. They discuss some of the background for some of the scenes as well as aspects of the production. Not the usual dull experts talking.

There are short interviews with Beryl Vertue (Sue's mom), Steven Moffat, and Jack Davenport.

I'm not sure of the reason for the color of the DVD case - bright green. Season one's case is blue. The cases do stand out. I like the bright colors, but I was trying to find a pattern or clue about the color choices.

Within the extras, there are hints at a 4th season of Coupling being written. Steven could be joking though.

I would recommend this DVD highly to anyone who may enjoy British comedies and isn't offended by sexual topics.

Summary: What situation comedy should be
Review: This series follows the mad antics of 6 thirtysomethings looking for love. It explores the temporary insanity people find themselves in when they are pursuing a long term relationship, or just looking to get laid. They do and say the craziest things when love (or sex) is on the line. This show illustrates just how crazy things can get in that pursuit. To make this completely plain, this show is just plain funny, because people are funny. This show taps into that human comedy better than any American "sitcom" ever has. The second season is, in my opinion the best of the best. It contains the episodes "The man with two legs" and "The end of the line". These are must sees of the coupling series.

Summary: Funny, funny show
Review: This show really funny and refreshing. I've grown up on friends and loved the first 6 seasons of it (then it turned into utter garbage).

The obvious parallels of the two shows are there, but Coupling stands its ground. All the characters are funny, and the writing for the show is very good. I think they should definitely bring it to the US, because there aren't any sit-coms as of right now.

I haven't even seen any of the other seasons, I saw this at the library, had no idea what it was, and out of curiosity checked it out. I watched the whole season in one night it was that good.

Folks here in the US, you're missing out. I just ordered my 4-season set. Only problem - 6 episodes per season, is that really a season? But hey it doesn't take away from the fact that the episodes are funny as hell.

In My Humble Opinion

Summary: Still laughing ...
Review: US sitcoms simply cannot be this funny, at least unless they are written for cable and then we'd be forced to endure some PC nonsense to go with whatever show was created.

Coupling Season 2 (and 3) are brilliant. The development of Jeff and Jane's characters goes to places you would never dream. Buy it, watch after your kids go to bed.
