Rating: Summary: Never would have believed it but... Review: ...Bottom is actually better than The Young Ones!!! I had never heard of this series until I bought The Young Ones DVD set. The fact that two Young Ones actors are also in Bottom prompted me to give this series a try. I'm glad I did. You can think of Bottom as The Young Ones minus a lot of the gross gags, although Bottom is not totally barren of these. Another ironic twist is that Rik Mayall plays a right wing patriot rather than a left wing anarchist as in Young Ones. Fans of The Young Ones will notice a blatant similarity between the final episodes of each series. Now, where is Filthy Rich and Catflap, another series featuring Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson? Come on, BBC Video. Please release this one as well.

Rating: Summary: Funniest series ever? Review: Aaah, this is great: one of my all time favorite tv series is now available on DVD. All episodes of all 3 seasons, with outtakes and bloopers as a special bonus. If you like absurd British humor then this is the set you'll have to buy!
Rating: Summary: Death by Laughter! Some Serious Geniuses @ Work Review: Absolutely the very first DVDs I bought after I got my DVD player (I just wore my VHS tapes to death). The fluffs are the best part! Not for mere mortal viewing, as mortals could suffer from a fatal attack of the giggles and gufaws. It's just too much to cover in just a measly 1000 words! Be sure to pick up "Bottom Hooligan's Island" live performance at the Hippodrome to see the real dynamics between these two, the "fish" and "Bruce". You'll have to go to amazon.uk to find it, but it's soo WORTH it!!!
Rating: Summary: If you loved Review: Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayall specialize in broad slapstick with a decidedly juvenile and puerile bent. Having brought such antics to the masses with "The Young Ones," "Filthy, Rich, & Catflap," and some episodes of "The Comic Strip Presents," they continue the trend with three series worth of "Bottom" from the '90s. If you've seen Ade & Rik in action, you know exactly what to expect. If you haven't, imagine the Three Stooges for a more adult audience. Don't bother looking for involved plots in these shows... they're more like vague setups for the slapstick mayhem. This show may not be quite up to the level of "The Young Ones" as writers Ben Elton & Lise Mayer's contributions are missing (and they bought a bit more attention to verbal humor) but it's still wildly funny. Missing, too, is actor Nigel Planer (Neil from "Young Ones") who provided a nice complement to Rik & Ade, but Christopher Ryan (Mike from "Young Ones") does pop up in all three series as Dave Hedgehog. The series centers around the dead end lives of two flatmates, Eddie Hitler (Ade) & Richie Richard (Rik), who spend their time beating the crap out of each other, trying to make cash, and get laid. The only thing they ever succeed at, however, is beating each other up. The stronger episodes, in my opinion, are the ones which get them out and about as opposed to sticking them alone in their flat for the entire episode. But, again, it's all funny and consistent. Fans of '80s and '90s Brit comedy (like "French & Saunders" and "Absolutely Fabulous") should find much to enjoy here. One warning though - if you attempt to watch all these in one go, it may get a bit repetitive. Best to break them up over several viewings.
Rating: Summary: Bottom Review: AH! This is how it's done! I laugh more at this in 5 minutes than every single "comedy" on U.S. television in an entire season. These two gentlemen are truly masters of comedy, and this is a very enjoyable set. If you havent seen it, than what are you waiting for? GET IT NOW!
Rating: Summary: At last, US availability. Review: Finally the entire series is available in the States! The Amazon review about does it justice...so there's no point rehashing what it says in this space. If you're a fan of British comedy leaning towards Blackadder, Father Ted, Red Dwarf, The Young Ones (very similar to), you won't be disappointed. It'll be a lot cruder and ruder than the above, but every bit as funny and the missing ingredient in your collection. Edmonson and Mayall are fantastic together and play out their sick and twisted but superbly created characters hillariously. Classic comedy! They should have screened this already on BBC America but possibly don't have the guts to.
Rating: Summary: A great set Review: For those of you familiar with the antics of Mayall and Edmonson's BOTTOM, there's no need to tell you how brilliantly funny this show is. And for those of you not familiar, prepare yourself. No point going over this episode by side-splitting episode. What I really enjoyed about this set were the "gimmes" the extras. It was nostalgic for me to watch "Boom-Boom" (Rik Mayall's pre-Young Ones show). But for my money, the bloopers/outtakes, which are usually lame from other series, are riotous here. This great set is well-worth your bottom dollar (bad pun intended).
Rating: Summary: a bit of bottom....at last! Review: Having moved to the USA 12 months ago I found that i wanted some of the comedy that I had taken for granted back home. I have tried everywhere to get Bottom on DVD and had bought a multi-region player so that next time I was in the UK I could bring some back. It is great news to see this anarchic comedy being put out in a generous 3 disc set. If you like your humour outragious and littered with a fair amount of painful slapstick, then this is definitely for you. Buy with total confidence if you like the mad humour of Cleese, etc. .....and of course it does have it's fair amount of toilet humour...hence the title!.......Also, look out for the release of a 4 disc set of the king of UK sitcoms....Only fools and horses, one of the funniest UK sitcoms ever. you may take a while to understand the lingo....but you will love it all the same.....or you must be a "24 carrot plonker!"
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC Review: I had never heard of this series until I bought The Young Ones on DVD and the first episode was included...I was hooked and was hoping for more...and here it is! This is by far one of the funniest British sitcoms I've EVER seen. It's a live action Looney Tunes cartoon...much more violent than anything The 3 Stooges did in their entire career. Buy it, you won't regret it.
