Summary: I don't get it.
Review: All the people that have submitted reviews have all mentioned the cartoon. Has anyone ever read or even heard of the comic book (you know, the medium that started this whole thing). Yes, the cartoon is great and I would love to see that come to DVD (I have the two tapes that were released). The live action series was better for two reasons, Patrick Warburton was perfect as the Tick and two, they (the producers) didnt have to dumb it down for kids to think it was funny too. They kept the adult edge that made the comic book so great. I for One will definitely be buying this.

Summary: Animated? I'll say...
Review: Patrick Warburton is an absolute gem as the rubber suited lead of this fabulous foray into the alternative super-hero universe of The Tick.
For those who complain that the animated series is superior obviously haven't seen the wonder that is Batmanuel. Be prepared to split a side or two during the course of this entertaining comedy extravaganza.
Although the budget of the series was obviously low (made apparent by the lack of special effects and very few action sequences) it is more than compensated by clever script writing and perfection of comedic timing.
A must-have for any super hero fan.

Summary: Maybe my Favorite Show EVER!
Review: This is non-stop hilarity! I loved this show so much. I was heartbroken when it was canceled, but it was obvious from the start it would happen. It was on Fox Thursday at 7:30. Aren't most people watching NBC at that time? Putting a show like this on at that time is just stupid and it seemed like Fox just wanted it to go away. This show deserved much better! Patrick Warburton is absolutely hilarious and with his noteriety from Seinfeld, they could have made this show a hit. I am absolutely astonished this is coming out on DVD w/commentary so soon! This is one of the very few shows (as in 2) that I taped every episode of, but it's so damn great that I will buy this DVD if it's the last thing I do! Everyone n their right mind must buy this.

Summary: You've got to be kidding me....
Review: If anyone needed further proof that the executives at Fox are the dumbest people on the planet it is this. The live action version of The Tick is coming out on DVD BEFORE THE INFINITELY SUPERIOR ANIMATED VERSION. The live action version just plain old [terrible].

For true fans of The Tick, the live action version is a sad, [sad] substitute for what was one of the best animated programs ever. As of this moment, the only way to get the precious animated Tick on DVD is to go pirate. I don't support this alternative, but if the losers at Fox don't cough up a DVD version of the caroon, then they deserve to have there precious copywrited material pirated.

Summary: One of the funniest shows ever!
Review: The original cartoon Tick series was and still is one of the most original and funny shows ever and the live action incarnation retains all the quirky brilliance of its predecessor despite some changes - (I miss American Maid, but love BatManuel). GREAT writing, GREAT acting - especially Patrick Warbuton, GREAT cameos (David Foley, Chistopher Lloyd, Ron Pearlman) and of course GREAT COSTUMES!!! Leave it to Fox to cancel another great show, but at least now it can have a second life. Now where's that Kids in the Hall DVD set??

Summary: You dont know what your missing
Review: Finally Its here, The Best TV show in decades, that most
people have never heard of because FOX aired it at odd times
and against friends/survivor.
More of a sitcom about the troubles of the Super Hero lifestyle, don't expect the old Super Hero saves the day plots.
Do expect more in the way of the Real Life Problems of Super Heros' Relationships, and LOTES of Laughs.
If you missed this when it aired don't miss it now.
If you saw it when it aired your already buying this, so what are you still reading this review for, just buy it...

Summary: Spooooon! Naughty Spawn, you face THE TICK!!!
Review: It's hard to classify "The Tick" live action series. It was really like nothing else on TV and truly original for a live action series (original in the live action sense... after all this series was based on the classic comic book and cartoon series).

I think the live action series was more a Tick cartoon series' adult-tongue-in-cheek MEETS Men-in-Black's style MEETS Family Guy's mile-a-minute sight gags. If you at all like superhero movies, but kind of think that superhero's are cheesy at the same time, then the Tick might be for you. It's really a superhero series for people that do not like superhero series. Warburton is perfect as the big blue invincible Tick. Other characther names are changed from the original cartoon.... for example American Maid becomes Captian Liberty and Die Fledermaus becomes Batmanuel. But certain things remains constant: the comedy and the genius that are Ben Edlund's creation: The Tick!

This DVD kind of surprised me. I didn't even know it was out. Fox did a horrible job promoting this series and the DVD for that matter. It was advertised for months before actually airing, and then half the time they aired it opposite Friends on Thursdays. They wanted this to fail... much like they wanted Family Guy to fail (another show that bounced time slots and is now a DVD hit). Well, let the DVD sales show Fox just how dumb their execs are.... This series is spot on hilarious. Give it a try and if you think it's silly or ridiculous, that was the whole point!

Summary: an amazing comic made into an amazing show
Review: I was a fan of The Tick comic books ( all, what, 13 of them?) and they are amongst my most prized posessions. I was very nervous when I heard a live action show was being made of the The Tick. However, I absolutely loved the show and the DVD set. I've already watched them through three times. A great buy!

Summary: The Big Blue Bug of Justice is here on DVD!
Review: The Tick was a live action television series that aired during the fall of 2001 on FOX. The show was based on writer Brian Edlund's irreverent and often brightly brilliant 1990s comic book and cartoon series of the same name. The premise of the franchise is simple: it serves as an exploration into the daily lives of superheroes. Like Seinfeld before it, the strength of The Tick stood in its ability to inject the surreal into the lives of its characters by ensuring that they are all well-grounded in a realistic, believable setting. The cartoon itself spanned thirty-six half hour episodes and ran for three seasons from 1994-97 (and is sadly not yet available on DVD). The live action series wasn't as long lived, seeing the production of only nine half hour episodes, of which only seven were ever aired by FOX.

Like so many shows before it (Twin Peaks, Nowhere Man, Firefly and Maximum Bob), The Tick suffered the fate of cancellation simply because it was too good for tv. The uniqueness of shows like The Tick lay in their ability to consistently deliver a compellingly original storytelling experience for its viewers. But it was this very uniqueness that made these shows the ugly ducklings of their day - scary on the outside for the networks who had to market them, but hiding a hidden treasure trove of situational goodness on the inside for the viewers fortunate enough to find them.

Overall, the different incarnations of The Tick are appealing because of their keen, shoot from the hip, suave mentality. It takes the idea of the traditional superhero mythos and literally turns it on its head with hilarious results. This 2-disc DVD brings this live action series back to life, with a myriad of fascinating extras, from behind the scenes interviews to episode commentaries by the writers and producers of the show, making it a must have for any DVD collection.

Summary: I wanna be SPOON-fed!
Review: I'm feeling blue. Where, oh, where is the justice? Ain't no justice. Not BLUE JUSTICE. Real Tick fans from Edlund's black & white ishes early on can relate, n'est-ce pas? The Warburton show started weak and finished strong, from a writing POV, dumbed-down versions of Die Fledermaus & American Maid notwithstanding. But it was ill-promoted. and we are left without Chairface Chippendale, Barry Hubris & the best rogue's gallery of goofball highbrow villainy ever to grace the cathode ray set. Left without TV's first celebrity capybara. Left without the answer to what would happen if Captain Mucilage fought Mucus Tick? Left without that groovy theme song, BA-DAH-BOW! And left without a Townsend Coleman fix...fella! So he sez to me, he sez "you got style baby, but if you gonna be a real DVD bestseller instead of one what bombs at Christmas, you gotta dish the REAL goods, man." I mean...Murdoch, do you, like, read, man?
