Summary: Original season of Charlie's Angels = awesome!
Review: Just having the full first season of Charlie's Angels on DVD is awesome. Any one of these episodes is right there at your fingertips, with clear pictures and sound -- and no commercials!

A few negatives:
1) No sub-titles. The closed-captions are there, but on many TVs it's impossible to bring those up without muting the TV, which somewhat defeats the purpose.
2) The packaging is flimsy and a little difficult to deal with.
3) No "extras" or interviews (the "Angels Forever" featurette is just interviews with fans, and the trailers for the recent Angels movies are dull).

However, spending too much time complaining about those three things will overshadow my first point: having the entire first season of the Angels on DVD is incredible, and well worth the highly reasonable price.

Review: When I found out that Charlie's Angels was on dvd, all at once flashbacks of my childhood flooded over me.It felt like yesterday when I would search the tv guide every week, and anticipate watching Charlie's Angels. This tv show really had an impact on my life at the time it was popular, and even up into the 80's before it was then cancelled. My favorite angel was Kelly...she was like a role model to me. growing up, I had not really had a female figure in my life, and somehow I was drawn to Kelly, as she was smart, pretty, streetwise, yet sensitive, and motherly. And since I did not have a mom, I remember referring to her as my "mother", lol. Also, I feel that Jacklyn Smith deserves the title of being "A True Angel til the End" since she was the only Angel who never left Charlie, and Bosley. A friend of mine from elementary school, who was also into the Angels, used to tell me that I was gonna look like Kelly when I grew up, and I would tell her she was like Kris, since she was blonde, and we used to play Charlie's Angels after school. I sure hope that they will make dvd's of all the seasons, as many of my favorites were also when Sabrina, Kris, and Kelly were together. One of the greatest things about the Angels is that they always were so loyal to each other....real life girlfriends like that are rare....lol....the Angels were my heros and role models. I cant wait to have the whole 5 Season Charlie's Angels in my collection!!! Please hurry with the other seasons, and also consider getting Threes Company, and Bewitched, and the Mr. Ed show....Thank you so far columbia tri- star...

Summary: Angelic Look
Review: GOOD
1) Price is Great
2)The episodes are nice and clear
3) The audio is good

BAD
1)Packaging nothing to write home about
2)No cast/crew interviews

CONCLUSION
If you grew up watching these shows you will be pleased with how they look now on DVD and enjoy them a lot. Sure there are not really any substantive extras that are found on more expensive boxed sets like Babylon 5 or Star Trek:TNG, but at this price it is a minor issue.

Summary: An Unbelievable Bargain!
Review: I've been a huge "Charlie's Angels" fan since the first year of the show, and I can't believe it's all here in one package. I've always loved the entire series, all five seasons, but I must admit, the first season is my favorite. It's very good. Maybe because the show was fresh and just starting out, or perhaps it was Farrah's awesome hair... Now, that it's on DVD, it's better than ever. If you love either the '70s or pop-culture, you should buy it. If you're a fellow "Charlie's Angels" fan, you HAVE to buy it! It would be great if some of the other seasons would be released on DVD also. Hopefully, they will be.

Summary: Charlie's Angels Complete 1st Season - It's About Time!!!!
Review: It took Columbia Star long enough to release this series on DVD. I was bummed to hear that the rest of the seasons won't be released. ...

Anyway, on to the series at hand. I was very happy to receive this and not having seen a single episode from the 1st season...I was introduced to it during the Kris, Kelly, Tiffany era...I enjoyed watching this series over the course of the weekend. My fave episodes include Angels in Chains (of course), The Seance, The Killing Kind, Angels on Wheels, and Angel Trap.

Of the six Angels, Jacklyn Smith (Kelly) was my favorite. And I agree with the poster who said their favorite Kelly scene was when after she groined the Amazonian woman, she turned around and made a cynical purrish remark with that [great]pose. I agree it was a wise decision to include that scene in each of the opening credits. Pretty ironic Jacklyn Smith wound up being the only Angel to stay through the course of the series, considering I read that they wanted to drop her character. Why, I don't know, especially considering her excellent performance in the Pilot. I was surprised by her prominently being featured in it considering Kate Jackson was the star of the show but I read the explanation by the previous poster and now I understand. Actually it did seem like they gave Jacklyn quite a lot to work with, which could explain why she stayed and the others bolted.

It was a shame Farrah left because you could clearly see the chemistry (on screen at least) she shared with Kate and Jacklyn.

As far as the packaging, the cover gets high marks but I agree that the cheap plastic cases the DVDs come in was very unclassy. Then again, I'd imagine that the price of the set would've been higher had they put all the extra bells and whistles. But I'm sure many would've been willing to pay that extra price.

While the plots were a little contrived at times, the chemistry of the girls as well as the fashions saves the series and makes this one of the best shows from the late 70s.

If you haven't bought it yet, what are you waiting for?

Summary: BRILLIANT AND FUN
Review: Viewing this DVD set takes me back when I was 12 years old back home in Hawaii watching this every Wednesday night with my mom. I couldnt wait all week for Wednesday night... I lived for it. And every Wednesday night I was never disappointed. During school I would literally draw the logo of the show in my Mead spiral notebook over and over.... I could draw the silhouette of the 3 girls in their action poses from memory.

Anyway... this is a very good set. People complain about the cases but they are protective. The transfer is great. Some guy who also wrote a review said it was awful....he must have a bad set or something.

Over 20 years ago now, the writing is pretty formulaic and the acting so-so.... but the chemistry between these orginal angels is solid. The music is so appropriate too... The clothes although dated, still projects how fashionable and influential they were -- culottes, gauchos, hip huggers, cowl neck sweaters, 3 piece suits, and even Sabrina had a "Sabrina" in gold letters necklace that Carrie Bradshaw resurrected in these modern days of "Sex and the City".... thanks to this show. It captures the 70's so well.... While it does seem exploitive at times the Angels use their feminine ways to really lure the bad guys to get what they want. They kicked some serious ... empowered women

I saw the movies and I still miss Kate, Farrah and Jaclyn... they were the best. Enjoy everyone.

Summary: Before Cameron and Drew, there were real angels!
Review: Before Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz and Lucy Lu had there 2 Charlie's Angels films, there were real crime fighters, the 1976 Charlie's Angels, who actually faught normally, not flying off motor bikes and jumping in the air in slow motion to end up doing some impossible drop kick, they were normal, humans who faught realistically and when they got caught they didn't break bars off of walls to fight like Cameron did in part 1, they found a clever act to get them out, distraction, or threatened whoever with a gun...Very classic show, just wish the new ones would stop joking around and make a realistic sequel. The DVD for season 1 is very good and there is a nice featurette, the image quality was good and the sound quality was clear and loud, I am very pleased that the DVD came out so well, can't wait for season 2. Buy this set, the msrp is 49.99, but you get 1,160 hours of shows plus the original pilot (23 episodes) on 5 discs. Great series with good plots and action scenes that are real (I could imagine the scene where Kelly jumps away from the car with Dillan (Drew) in it, she would jump over it, kick into the glass, punch the guy in the car, they would fall over a ledge and are on the way to the ocean when suddenly Dillan opens the door, jumps out and lands on a bush...I'm sorry, but the new ones are so ridiculous, I had to say that!

Review: the worst transfer of tv to dvd i have seen yet. ... Sony pictures should be ashamed that this box set has the Sony name on it.
after you waste your money on this be sure and send Sony a thank you letter for the quality work they put into this series.
The show is classic T.V but the dvd quality is the worst on the market. You would be better off with VHS if it were available
