Review: I've been waiting for this DVD to come out ever since UCB went off the air. I wrote Comedy Central, I went over to the UCB website, and I whined incessantly!!!
Finally, I found it, and I watched the whole set with my husband. It was awesome!!! I can't wait until they do the second season, because my Super Cool is running low!!!Meanwhile, I'm starting my ass penny collection!!!!

Summary: Ce n'est pas Mr. Show
Review: Each episode is just good enough to make me want to watch the next one. There are occasional glimmers of brilliance, but most of it falls short. Comparisons to Mr. Show are unwarranted; UCB has none of the originality or subtlety. Like SNL in the last ten years, half of the jokes fail to reach their potential and the other half lack any potential to begin with. On the positive side, the cast is likable and the story lines are oddly compelling.

Summary: AMONG THE BEST SKETCH COMEDY SHOWS EVER MADE
Review: Normally I wouldn't say this, because it makes me look like an idiot to toot my own horn like this (espescially in an online review), but I've been writing jokes for the Onion for the last 13 years, and the only reason I mention that is so hopefully somebody out there will take my comedy opinions a little more seriously when I say: PLEASE BUY THIS DVD RIGHT NOW. Just so there's no mistaking it: THE UPRIGHT CITIZEN'S BRIGADE created some of the most BRILLIANT, INTELLIGENT, SATIRIC comic work ever to appear on television, combining the best elements of live improv (from which most of these sketches were originally concieved) (and which the UCB and friends are the undisputed masters of, btw) ingenious and complex joke structure, great acting/writing/direction, punk/dada subversive absurdism, highbrow intellectual references and utterly lowbrow silliness, creating a mix that is unlike anything that normally gets aired on the too-often formulaic and boring world of television comedy. It was too unconventional for some and indeed when it aired it went over a lot of people's heads, but that was THEIR fault, not the show's, and the subsequent growing cult appreciation has vindicated the UCB's sketch show as a truly wonderful, rare, and special thing. IF YOU TAKE COMEDY SERIOUSLY as a struggling and underappreciated art form PLEASE SUPPORT THIS DVD so we can all convince Comedy Central that the remaining two seasons deserve future DVD releases (and in my opinion, each season just got better.) The UCB ranks alongside Python, the original SNL, SCTV, The Kids In The Hall and Mr. Show... in other words, it ranks among the best TV comedy programs ever made.

Review: I have not bought this DVD yet, but i have anticipated this day for way too long. I loved this show so much and i told so many people about it. I was surprised to find that not many people had even heard about this show. I told them some of the funny sketches, but I could not bring it to life for the people. I think that my favorite scene would have to be the one where the couples are eating fortune cookies, and lets just say...one guy gets very unlucky with his cookies. I was wondering if anyone knew if that scene was in the first season or not. Regardless, i will end up getting all the seasons if they come out(knock on wood).

Review: It's about time this show found it's way on DVD. UCB was the ultimate in surreal sketch comedy. What a funny show it was. I used to watch it all the time and recorded as many episodes as I could before the mindless unthinking cretins at Comedy Central took it away from us, to make more time for fighting robots. The once funny Comedy Central is finally doing something right by giving us this long overdue DVD, I just hope it sells well enough to warrant the other seasons on DVD. I've introduced this show to as many of my friends as possible, people need to see this show, too many people think SNL is the funniest sketch comedy there is, seeing one episode of this show should change that person's mind though.

Review: I can't believe this day has finally come. This is so gratifying, the most insanely funny comedy show has been released on DVD(the first season at least). After the show went off the air it was really hard to find any way to watch the episodes. I read in a previous review that if you don't find this show funny you have no soul, which is entirely true. My personal favorite is the Bucket of Truth episode. You will definitely enjoy this DVD.

Review: WOW, i never thought in my wildest dreams that i would ever see my favorite show on DVD. UCB was undoubtably the funniest show ever created, and if you've never seen it you owe it to yourself and your family to watch this. The other reviewers are a little more insightful, but i just couldn't contain my excitement. Lord please deliver us the 2nd and 3rd seasons as well. Chaos Lives!!!!!
