Summary: The waiting game...again
Review: The extras that they offer on this DVD are well worth watching - it is only your pocketbook that will suffer. It is like getting one half of a pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes.

It is nice that they have released Season 6 on DVD but not so nice that they have divided it into two box sets - with no date in sight as to when the final episodes will be released.

With the series now moving to TBS they have even removed it from HBO on Demand two weeks early. Those who missed the final few episodes the first time around will have to wait...perhaps till Christmas...for the Season 6 Part Two. Don't let TBS be your first introduction to this series...every word and scene is wonderful, and should not be cut for commercials.

Summary: In a word...wow!
Review: As a career coach, I naturally get curious about the way these four "girls" balance their busy professional lives with their even busier social side. Ultimately, I believe their social lives actually enhance their careers. Too many people get so career-focused that they actually implode. No matter what happens on the job, these women seem to say, they "have a life."

Season Six shows the four "girls" growing up. Samantha is well into her forties with the soul of a twenty-something. We see her playful side: when she sneaks into an exclusive club to get access to a swimming pool and when she goes wild over a younger man -- and maybe falls in love!

Charlotte's religious conversion is handled tastefully and respectfully, and we see a lighter side of Charlotte with her delightful new husband, Harry. I

Miranda too shows increased complexity as she falls in love with a new neighbor but recognizes where her heart really belongs.

And, like many reviewers, I loved Carrie's lost shoe story. I love the way she didn't back down when she asked for money -- and found a graceful way to get what she wanted. What I picked up was not so much the lifestyle resentment ("how could she spend $485 on one pair of shoes?") but the obligations of single people to buy gifts to honor their married friends' special occasions.

But you can't miss Carrie's mistake with Big. Either she needs to back off or she needs to read between the lines. He doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve. He's older and more sophisticated -- in fact, at times I'm surprised he's still eligible. But he obviously cares for Carrie and their chemistry creates visible sparks.

The DVD set lets us hear voiceovers and my complaint isn't about price: I wanted more director's commentary! I realize a busy producer has other things to do -- but his insights add considerably to a high-quality show. This set includes a presentation at a museum seminar, where each actor talks about her character. Not very deep but fun to see the actors out of role. They're highly intelligent, likeable women.

A bit of bias: Cynthia Nixon graduated from Barnard, my own alma mater. Perfect choice to play a Harvard-trained lawyer.

Summary: Greedy, Greedy, Greedy
Review: I am disappointed that I will not have the complete series of Sex and the City. I am appalled that season six is broken up. How much more money does HBO want to make off this series. I was a loyal fan; now I'm a disappointed one. I don't think holding people hostage and exploiting them at the end is a way to get people to watch your other show, HBO. I'm going back to network TV and taping.

Unhappy and disappointed.

Summary: Great Show Greedy HBO! Hey that rhymes
Review: I have all the seasons and I love Sex and the City. Season six was a return to the great comedy the show was always about, but the price for the last 2 season's are crazy. Why do you have to pay full price for less product, it's just greed. For the idiots who are defending HBO, they must either work for them or are posers who have no life and will latch on to anything. The show is great and if you don't mind, overpaying buy it.

Summary: Sticking up for HBO
Review: I haven't seen these DVDs yet. But honestly, I'm happy HBO split the season in two. I don't really have time to watch 20 episodes all at once, and I get the DVDs free from my local library (where I also work). And FYI--the reason HBO split the season is so the viewers could get the first half of the season EARLY (Part 2 is still being remastered for DVD). As a librarian who needs to be on top of these kinds of things, I have known they were splitting it for at least three months. So I can't wait to check these DVDs out for myself, completely free, and before I would have gotten them if the entire season had been released at once. My only gripe is the packaging--it's a pain to circulate.

Summary: WHEN IS PART 2 COMING?
Review: Definitely wonderful, funny and in keeping with the quality expected. However, when is Part 2 coming, and why was this season split up into two DVD's? Is it available for sale yet?

Summary: The Best Season by far!!!!
Review: Sex and the City Season 6 starts off great!!! You will find yourself laughing, crying, then laughing some more. If you are a fan of the show, then you see how the characters have grown in the 6 years the show has been on. Charlotte finally coming to terms with life not always being perfect, but that does not prevent her from trying to make it so. You also see her willing to convert to Judaism to marry Harry. A man you don't expect her to be with, but she let personality overshadow looks. Charlotte is determined to have a child and you are with her while she is dealing with that. That scene is the most heart wrenching. You see Miranda struggle with dating, her career and motherhood. Miranda also has a love affair with TIVO, and you wonder can she finally say I Love you? Samantha is still Samantha, but now she is dealing with a much younger man, and grey hairs in odd places. Carrie is dealing with dating, new boyfriends, ex-boyfriends, and boyfriends with thick accents. When a pair of Carries shoes are taken while she attends a baby shower, her throwing a shower for herself and registering her shoes, was just BRILLIANT!!!

I mean why should Carrie be made to feel bad about how much she spends on shoes? If she wants to spend over $400 for shoes, let her spend that much for shoes!!! She has no children, and I felt that woman was responsible for the shoes, or tried harder to find out who stole Carries Milano shoes!!! I mean what kind of person steals someone's shoes?

Blair Underwood, all I can say is that man is so handsome and I was riveted to the screen every time he made his appearance as Dr. Leeds. Oh my!!!!

My only complaint is season 6 is a 20 episode season, and for some reason, only 12 episodes have been released. Why tease us like that?

Season 6 is by far the best season of Sex and the City. I'm looking forward to seeing the 8 episodes when they are released.

Summary: SO IRRITATED! We've been RIPPED!
Review: SO IRRITATING! Those of you that have not bought the new season of Sex and the City Season 6, DONT! Rent it, because they charge you FULL price for only 1/2 the show. I don't have HBO so when the DVD came out, I rushed to the store to purchase it (AT FULL PRICE), and was so excited for my weeklong marathon. Little did I know that they'd disappoint their long time fan by splitting the season up, without disclosing the fact that this was NOT the full season. Greedy and WRONG! I'm pissed! We've been ripped off!

Summary: Cheated .....Upset
Review: HBO could have let buyers know before buying the CD and paying full price that it was going to only be 12 esposides and not all 19. I was looking forward to watching all 19 shows. Even though Season 6 is very funny it ends with One. When I finished my tape last night I took the box and said, "Wait a minute that can't be it. What happened to Carrie and Big. Smith and Sam." I feel cheated and very upset. Get ready to pay the full price and receive half the fun. If I would have known that I was only going to get half the fun for full price I would not have bought this season at all.

Thanks
