Summary: Disney's Version of "Scarecrow" is Excellent!
Review: From watching this film years ago, I would highly recommend
this movie, starring Patrick McGoohan (aka - "Secret Agent Man"), who is simply "fantastic" in his role as the respect-
ful Vicar, (alias the "Scarecrow"). Its films like this, that
always kept Disney "on top" and I'm sure most people would like
to see more of films like this one on television, instead of the
usual programs that we see. I definitely would highly recommend
purchasing this movie for any video collection!

Review: Having originally seen this film in the cinema in 1963 and having since owned at least two copies on VHS tape, long since worn out, I now want it on DVD.
Patrick McGoohan (Danger Man, The Prisoner) makes a great Doctor Syn and George Cole (St. Trinians, Minder) a suitably roguish sexton.
The story is presented at a good pace and the atmosphere is nicely creepy in the right places. The scarecrow's cackling laugh chills those who cross him.
To date, Danger Man, The Prisoner and Minder have all been released on DVD. How about Dr. Syn and St. Trinians?

Review: Truly outstanding Walt Disney production. Entertaining, exciting, excellent acting, and beautiful haunting, scenery. Also, the musical score is very appealing. Walt Disney at his best! Would recommend for anyone.

Review: I'd just like to add my voice to all the others who would like to see Disney release this on a DVD. I like so many others remember watching this Disney series. All the kids on my block made "Scarecrow masks" out of paper bags and we chased each other on our bikes. I hope Disney will release this before my own children grow old and leave the house. I'm thinking this would make a great Halloween gift for all the Scarecrow fans. Come on Disney--come through for all your loyal fans! (You'll make lots of money too)

Review: The quality of the movie was ahead of it's time because everytime it aired it was like the movie was recently made because of the clarity of the film. Disney had several series such as Gallagher and Toby Tyler but none of them was the equal of the Scarecrow. Patrick McGoohan went on to do Secret Agent, the Prisoner and several episodes of Columbo but his best role was the Scarecrow of Romney Marsh. I anxiety look forward to the release to DVD.

Review: I too was one of those that the Scarecrow gave nightmares to. It is a great movie about a great time in history whether it is true or not. I would love to see it again and that is why I put my order in in March, 2004. I want it. Please let Disney know.

Review: I remember seeing this while in early grade school in the 60's and thought it was outstanding. I actually forgot about this Disney effort until I stumbled across it while searching the web. I'd love to see it released on DVD. I'm sure that it would hold up well even today...an excellent story. Get on the ball Disney.

Summary: What the heck is Disney thinking?
Review: Like other reviewers here, I have strong memories of Patrick McGoohan's Scarecrow. In fact, it made more impact on me than any other episode in many years of childhood viewing of Disney's Sunday night Worlds. So why has Disney elected to cancel this DVD release without explanation? Disney must be well aware of the fan interest. Have they still concluded there is no market? Are there technical or legal issues? Are they holding it because of some future project? Check the disneyvideos website and you will see the title does not appear in their release calendar, which currently lists titles to November 2005. You can, however, if you search their site for Dr. Syn, register your interest in seeing Scarecrow released. You will also find mailing addresses for Disney and BV Home Entertainment where you could make your case in writing.

Update: I see Tom Hering's Scarecrow of Romney Marsh website is now citing insider information that Disney may be trying to restore and remaster the original full length TV version but has been hampered by loss of some of the original negative elements. He speculates the earliest possible release date may now be late 2006. It may be an opportune time to let Disney know directly of your interest in this title.

Summary: And I thought I was alone...
Review: Wow... after reading the list of messages I'm in awe. I thought for sure I was the only one harbouring a deep, deep need to see what I thought was a long-forgotten movie once again. To find out that so many people are drawn to this movie after 40 years and have had it embedded in their psyche all this time... Come on, Disney.... you've GOT something here!!! Get it released!!! And not the short version, please! Ok.. maybe it's just me.. but a number of people have mentioned how scary the movie was. Me.... I fell head over heels in love with Patrick McGoohan...and I'm not even sure how old I was. I do confess that I have another reason to get my fingers on this one... I'm curious as to whether Bob Anderson, sword/stunt master of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fame, had a role in the series/movie. His name does not appear as part of the cast in the numerous websites devoted to the cause so he might have been a stunt coordinator. Any hints or insight?

Summary: Dr. Syn Alias the Scarecrow of Romney Marsh
Review: I, like so many others who have written, fell in love with this movie as a kid in the 60's. It scared the daylights out of me, but I loved it. It was the song that always stuck with me and when I got older I discovered it on vhs and it all came back. I'm 43 now and my 6 year old has watched the vhs tape since he was 3, and he loves it too. I found an original Disney poster for it on eBay and it hangs in my office. Considering I am a priest, I get a few laughs about it when people see it. Dr. Syn is one of the few portrayals of my calling on film that is not an embarassment.
Here's a piece of free advice that would make them a another fortune (and I only mention it because I would like to see it) Re-make it with Johnny Depp and adapt his character Capt. Jack. If you read the original novels, the Vicar became the dred pirate Capt. Clegg before returning to Dymchurch as their cleric and smuggling leader.
Oh and release this classic on DVD to boost the interest first.
