Summary: LOVING LUCY. AND RICKY & FRED & ETHEL. NOW & FOREVER.
Review: I love Lucy. You love Lucy. We all love Lucy. We always have. And always will. If the
tale is true that someone is watching "I Love Lucy" somewhere in the world every minute
of the day, here's evidence why. Like you really need to be reminded! Each DVD in the
series contains four classic episodes ... indelible black-and-white images of Lucy and Ricky
and Fred and Ethel that are still as funny today as they were 50 years ago! Each volume
also contains flubs, radio shows, behind-the-scenes photo galleries and special footage,
such as lost and/or deleted scenes and original openings. Simply said: These volumes (and
subsequent ones) are must-haves for every DVD library.

Summary: ALL -TIME CLASSIC DVD
Review: I was a bit skeptical buying this DVD as I read how poor the quality for "The Lucy Show" is, however, that does not apply here. Volume 2 contains the following episodes: 1.Lucy Thinks Ricky is Trying to Murder Her, 2. The Quiz Show, 3. The Audition, & 4.The Seance. The quality and the audio are PERFECT. The images are Clear and Sharp. Once in awhile you will notice a black line filtering down the screen, but keep in mind these shows are over 50 years old.
As far as Bonuses, get ready: You see outakes and goofs from all 4 of the episodes,(one shows a scene of Vivian Vance yawning out of character). There is a black and white photo gallery of still shoots that you can watch (full screen), of the filmimg of the episodes. Also included are scanned pages of the script, along with the original opening of the show not seen since 1951.Phillip Morris was the sponsor, so an animated Lucy & Ricky bungee dive off a giant pack of ciagrettes! It's then explained that the giant heart against the satin background was used as the show's opening when it was sold in syndication.
If you are a Lucy fan or a fan of classic television, I think you will be pleasantly surpirsed. :)

Summary: Don't miss out!
Review: Keep in mind that these are definitive transfers of the 'I Love Lucy' episodes from Paramount (Lucille Ball sold Desilu to Paramount in 1967). The picture is rock steady, unlike most television shows transferred to home video and the quality rivals the CBS network broadcast from the 1950's and the weekday morning CBS broadcast in the 1960's as well. If you love the 'I Love Lucy' series, now's the time to buy. Don't miss out!

Summary: Anyone who truly loves Lucy will love these DVDs!
Review: LOVE LUCY is a truly classic TV show, and I've fallen in love with it since summer 2000 when I started watching syndicated reruns. Needless to say I was thrilled when I heard these DVDs are being released. To all of those who are grumbling about it not being issued as deluexe complete season boxed sets on the Volume 1 review page, I'd like to offer some food for thought.

* These classic shows have already been issued on DVD as part of an exclusive Colombia House Collector's Edition series, but even there they are not issued as complete season sets. With this as the second DVD release of the series, expectations aren't very high for a third, so don't hold out for Complete Season sets. These are the best we're going to get until they finish all the volumes of Season 1 - they MIGHT just box all the volumes and make a complete season set available, but it would be no better in terms of content than this, and you'd have to wait longer for them to get done releasing them in volumes and box them. If you're a true Lucy lover and have to have the complete series on DVD, just get these and stop complaining.

* Complete Season sets are VERY expensive, ... At ... retail, these DVDs are a steal compared to season sets. It probably WOULD be cheaper in the long run as season sets, and they'll end up making more money off us loyal Lucy lovers this way, BUT in the short term it's a sweeter deal. Most two hour movies are $30, and you're telling me I can get two hours worth of I LOVE LUCY shows for $15 and four hours for $30 if I buy Volume 1 as well? YAY!!

* On Complete Season sets, it only raises the price to produce bonus discs when the series takes up so many discs -- 5 or 6 for normal sets -- anyway. Here we get the episodes AND bonus features. Plus, since they're taking so many individual discs to do it, in the end we have MORE ROOM for bonuses then most Complete Season sets. I for one cannot wait to see the original animated openings and here episodes of Lucy and Dezi's radio show MY FAVORITE HUSBAND. Plus we get goofs, bluffs, cast/crew info, and occasionally LOST FOOTAGE restored into the episodes! Yay, no?!

I hope this food for thought has helped some of you complainers get past the fact that Complete Season sets are not a reality for I LOVE LUCY, and I hope that you'll buy these DVDs anyway so that you too may enjoy this American TV classic at your pleasure instead of waiting for them to rerun your favorite episode. If you are a true Lucy lover, this is a dream come true!

Summary: I LOVE LUCY MORE...
Review: Since I purchased these clear, pristine prints now available on DVD! For any Lucy fanatic, this is a real treat. Ever since I was about five (37 years ago) I have been a faithful fan of I LOVE LUCY: the plots, the characters and their adventures simply make me laugh. A lot! Although Lucy herself thought that some of the early episodes i.e. "when we were just starting out" were "too silly" - DRAFTED would be a good example of what she meant - ALL 179 episodes are cherished by dyed-in-the-wool fans - of which there are literally thousands if not millions, I would presume. Here we have THE SEANCE Fred: "Well done, Medium Raya!" When Lucy, Ethel and Mr. Merriweather discuss their numerology statistics he remarks "My, we're all odd, aren't we"? Lucy gets a "Mickey from Ricky" in LUCY THINKS RICKY IS TRYING TO MURDER HER, the first episode filmed, but it wasn't shown immediately. I love the close-up where Ms Ricardo looks straight at the camera and exclaims "THEODORE"!. THE QUIZ SHOW is a classic and there are many chuckles in THE AUDITION. Although Lucy may have been correct in stating that some of the earlier episodes were a bit cornier, one can see how hard the foursome worked in order to make this show a great hit: it essentially became America's perennial favourite comedy show of all time. Personally, with a few exceptions, I thought the first four years of the series contained the best episodes: Lucy and Ethel were younger and sprightier and there was an almost magical quality about the first half of the series. During the later years the show was still great, but after the show's creative genius originator - Jess Oppenheimer - left (over creative control issues with Desi) the cast played with more assurance and predictibility in their portrayals: that certain elusive quality vanished, somehow.

Summary: The Queen of Comedy
Review: This DVD is a MUST have for any LUCY fan. The 4 episodes it contains are hilarious. In the first episode: "Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying To Murder Her," a misunderstood phone conversation, makes Lucy think that Ricky wants to kill her. In the second episode: "The Quiz Show," to win $1,000 on a quiz show, Lucy pretends to have been married to someone else beore Ricky. In the third episode: "The Audition," Lucy trys to get into Ricky's show (as usual,) by going on in place of Buffo the Clown. and in the fourth episode: "The Seance," Lucy & Ethel become interested in the supernatural." Get this DVD or, you'll run home crying: "Oh, Ricky!"
