Summary: Where's the love?
Review: Soul Food is an excellent series. I would personally like to have the whole set complete with all 6 seasons at a reasonable price-point! How is it " Sex in the City" is already available and we can only buy the over-priced first season of "Soul Food" ? Why does it take so much for shows featuring people of color (specifically African-American) to be made readily available or to be acknowledged by the Emmys even after six successful seasons???

Summary: Unbelievable
Review: This season has truly been a inspiration to me, I'm 19 years old and right now I'm majoring in Fashion Marketing , and I really have alot going for myself ,I can sing, dance, and write poetry, so I have plenty talents from God. After seeing this season, I plan on changing my major in college , I want to become a big time lawyer, God just showed me that light after viewing this season, and I really like how the family goes through there trials and tribulations, but when it balls down to the end there is love, peace, and harmony within the family. Now I even cried on the last show"Take Me To The Water" , I cried, because it was so sad, and I just felt bad for Dameon because he felt so bad , I would have to. In the next season I hope that Teri and Dameon gets married and have a baby, I also want to see that Kenny still have feelings for Teri again to, now that would be real good, but I dont want to see the family go crazy. I want to see whole new level of Soul Food, and again I thank the producers and everyone who put there heart into this season, because it really has change me, and I can't wait until season 2. Oh yeah, everybody will soon know me because I'm working on a demo , just me and I'm about to blow up and I'm calling my demo " Divine Soul" . Just look out . Thanks again , Soul Food.

Summary: "Give Us More Food!!"
Review: Vanessa Williams ("the other Vanessa") was the the beautiful black woman that drew this gay white male initially to "Soul Food." I never saw the movie version of this or other cast members in any other shows or films, but I remembered Ms. Williams as the vivacious "Rhonda" on the first series of episodes in Season 1 of "Melrose Place" until they let her go?WHY???? Well, Darren Starr and his crew were STUPIDO to lose her because she is an amazing actress especially in this role as "Maxine." From the bouncy opening song sung by Al Green and Babyface, every episode grows closer and closer to the inner workings of our three couples living complicated yet closeknit lives in Chicago. The storylines involving family disputes over property, discrimination against women in the workplace, extramarital temptation, and criminal activity, are all done realistically without resorting to blood, guts and sheer shock value to get their points across. Guest stars Richard Rountree (playing a very devious Uncle) and Dennis Haysbert (as Terri's biggiest fan; the owner of a major airline company) add magic to the show along with every regular cast member that is perfectly fit to their character. Most appealing are Nicole "Ari" Parker (Terri) who is an AMAZING actress, Vanessa (of course), and Rockford Dunbar as Maxine's hubby. I'm sad I'm on the last episode because I have laughed and cried with this family though the first 19 episodes. To whatever production studio is reading this. please, please, PLEASE release the other seasons on DVD!! BET edits them which I don't like and I enjoy being able to watch one episode after the other without waiting days or even a week. The price seems right NOW and if you like family-oriented dramas with a twinge of realism, you'll love this as much as I do.
I want MORE soul food; it's inspirational, funny and sad at the same time-it adds hope to my life...FIVE STARS!!!!

Summary: Soul Food - The Complete First Season
Review: When I watch Soul Food, I am reminded of my own upbringing as well as the upbringing of many of my friends. This family has many of the same problems and crisis' that almost every American family faces (Black, White, Hispanic and Asian). It's well-written, well-acted, and it lets its characters be vividly real. It reminds us that not all African Americans are living in desperate poverty; we are just like many other American families. Soul Food explores storylines that many network series delve into with predominantly Caucasian casts, such as class, crime, religion, sex, but the networks rarely show them from an African American perspective. Soul Food almost never made race a central concern but it surely never tried to cover up the fact that race plays an important role in these character's lives. I can not wait for the rest of the seasons to be released. This is a show that everyone should have in their collection.

Summary: FAIRYTALE SHOWTIME SERIES
Review: Where do you find these type of people? You don't. They don't excist in the real world only on Showtime's semi-popular drama series. Where the most beautiful African Americans in the world come together to share their unrealistic lives. White people excist only in the background and are never anywhere close to being as desirable as the main cast of young black beauties. I don't own this collection of the 1st season, but I did watch the entire season on SHOWTIME. I guess even though it's unbelievible, it still had a degree of entertainment value. And in no way is this the only unitentionally unrealistic show out there, there are hundreds. These shows are watched and liked. So I guess the creators of 'SOUL FOOD' are doing something right. I believe they are on their 3rd or 4th season by now. BOTTOMLINE: If you read between the lines you will enjoy the show less than if you don't. Meaning you either like it or you don't. Or you're like me, somewhere in between. 3 out of 5 stars.

Summary: You can't go wrong with Soul Food
Review: While living in the U.S. I never had the opportunity to watch Soul Food. When I heard it was available for purchase I went quickly to get my copy. What a pleasant surprise. The characters have substance and life experiences in which I can relate. The value of family runs strong throughout the series and this is something that often lacks in programs, which are supposedly depicting typical African American life. When the remaining episodes become available, I will be first in line to get my copy. For those of you who are contemplating purchasing this series trust me, it is worth every single dime! As we say here in Germany, Es ist Gut!
