Summary: Join the Revolution
Review: Among science fiction fans, there are two groups. Those that Love Babylon 5, and those that 'just can't get into it'. Part of that separation may come from a lack of long term attention span.

Those that love B5 have patience, a permanently installed sense of wonder, and the capacity to enjoy the long involved story line - the evolution of the characters and the B5 universe. Those that 'don't get it' seem to have less patience, need a 'quick fix' of color and sound, and do not care too much about continuity, logic, or character development.

And, you are encouraged to THINK in this series. That puts some people off. How does a despotic dictatorship take over a free society? Watch the Night Watch develop, remember Earth history (Nazi Germany), look around you. How can a womanizing lizard and a drunken gambler become heroes, bitter enemies, loyal friends, a Leader and an Emperor? Watch J'Kar and Lando grow and change. How can 'angels' betray Mankind? Watch....

This series isn't for everyone. Just the Best of Us.

Have patience. Join the Revolution.

Summary: Finally!
Review: Babylon 5 is in my opinion the most outstanding sc-fi series ever. I have been waiting long and patiently for the series release on DVD.

Let's hope that the studio now releases all seasons in rapid succession. Boxed sets for a complete season would be nice.

Summary: About Time!!!
Review: It's nice to see that they have decided to start putting out Babylon 5 on DVD. I hope that they will continue and release the whole 5 seasons. Even though I have the complete series on VHS (I was in the UK for three years and the Brits have the series on VHS PAL format, so I was able to purchase the complete series)I will buy the series again on DVD. I'm glad that the studio got around to it.

Summary: It's about time!
Review: I have been patiently waiting for years for this to come out on DVD. I've signed my name to petitions, I've written emails, even made a few phone calls. I know that I, for one, WILL buy every single episode if they release them all on DVD. Yeah, it's a fair penny - 25 episodes/season, 5 seasons - 125 episodes; typically 2 EP / release is 63 titles... So yeah, it'll cost a bit, assuming they're all the same price as this one, but I'll buy them all. Please, let them all come out!

Summary: It's About Time!
Review: Babylon 5, in my humble opinion, was one of the best sci-fi series to grace television. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. Heck, I can't wait for someone to finally realize that this whole series needs to be on DVD and easy to get forms. I would pay anything to get a collection of season 1, 2, 3, 4, and even 5, though my favorites Ivanona and Cole were no longer there. The plots are fun and interesting, the story arc is solid and wonderful, the characters are simply.... human. I love it. I can't wait for the series to be on hand. Someone call the studio and make them do it!

Summary: Is the Studio Business Section Listening???
Review: My wife and I were really impressed by the Babylon 5 series. We caught it as a Turner rerun on satellite. We followed each and every section in proper sequence, which is the ONLY way that this wonderful screenplay can be seen. We want our son to see it the same way, only with the benefit of DVD.

Thus, are you listening? We and, apparently many others, will pay for the complete boxed set of the entire story. What do you want $130, $150, $200? Do you understand that we, in the most expansive plural, want every piece of the puzzle, not some edited best of compilation...

It truly is amazing what your company is wasting VHS tapes and DVDs on, when Babylon 5 is a "sure thing". I will only buy the DVDs. And I would buy all, including sections edited out of the original, in the case of Babylon 5. I can think of no other movie or series where I would do this!

Summary: UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Review: I have followed this series ..."From the Beginning" and enjoyed it immensely...never failing to see rerun after rerun. It's part of a long line of shows of the same genre, and one of my favorites. And herein, lies my sole complaint. This series WAS issued in boxed sets in the VHS format, and apparently never completed. I had suspicions (caused by paranoid delusions, or innate pessimism) that DVDs would probably be issued.
I'd really like to know if anyone has the completed VHS set. I'll probably wind up buying the DVDs, but am a little miffed that the VHS format for the entire show is not available, especially since some of the season begun in VHS were not completed. I've been waiting for the final sets for years. Perhaps Warner would consider accommodating those faithful fans left "holding the cartridge" by providing the missing episodes on tape.
And yes, I'm aware that there are often casualties of progress and being the fan I am, as I've indicated I'll purchase the DVDs if that's what will be offered.

Summary: Finally!!!
Review: After having to watch my wife drool over her X-Files DVD sets (series' 1-3), it is good to see that one of my favorite sci-fi franchises is coming to DVD. Even though Babylon 5 first aired while I was in high school, I did not actually watch it until almost three years later, when it was aired from the beginning on TNT. I was hooked from the first episode, and hope that JMS and crew release all the series' in box set format, like the X-FIles.

Summary: Awesome movie
Review: Alot of my friends make fun of me for loving Babylone 5, but I have found in this series something special that holds my attention episode after episode. This movie is the first, and in my opinion, the best. It portrays the Earth-Minbari war, the the graphics, storyline, and acting are superb. A must see for any science fiction fan, although it does help to know the backstory to B5. Our last best hope for peace....

Summary: Great Series! How will the DVD Pan Out?
Review: In my humble opinion, Babylon 5 is one of the greatest series of all time. While I agree with the other people here that these two movies spoil the series a little bit, I still think that people who haven't seen the series should buy them. Seeing the movies is a great way to know if the rest of the series will appeal to you.

Babylon 5 is a series set on a space station at the cross-roads between several empires. The show often takles issues such as religion, foreign relations, totalitarian governments, slaves, etc. It lacked the budget and support that Star Trek DS9 did; however, Babylon 5 still comes out on top in overall plot and storyline.

These two movies deal with a war that happened years before Babylon 5 was created, and with a terrible incident just after Babylon 5 opened.

I would like to go more indepth about what happens, but to do so would give away too many spoilers. Sufficent to say, Babylon 5 is a series where characters undergo very real evolutions over the course of the series. Events in one episode effect events in the others. If you're tired of series where nothing even changes year after year, Babylon 5 is for you.

I also hope that they release the rest of the series as box sets, or at least with several episodes per disc. If they release only two episodes per disc (as some people here seem to think they will do), it will take years to get the entire series. It will also be quite expensive to get them all, and will turn off more casual buyers. Director's commentary, deleted scenes, and other such things would be much appreaciated on *each* disc, not just one or two.

Here's a treat for taking the time to read this. Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers, is a new movie that will be released Jan 2, 2002 on the Sci-Fi channel. If the movie gets high enough ratings, they may do another series.
