Review: I was extremely pleased to see that FK is finally out on DVD, especially after seeing much lesser shows come out for so long. I received my boxed set two days ago and I've since watched the first disk of this 5-disk set.The packaging is very attractive (although I would have preferred to see a bit more of Nick with his human face in the artwork---Geraint Wyn Davies is not hard on the eyes). The DVDs themselves, although a tad compressed, provide perfectly good output. I am very happy that I can now free my shelves of the three sets of first season tapes I have stored. The only niggle I have with the set is that the very first episode, Dark Knight Part 1, is not the Canadian version. The rest of the episodes are Canadian, which means they contain scenes cut from teh American version to make room for commercials. Why Sony did this is beyond me. I don't mind the lack of extras or fancy bells-and-whistles on these DVDs. I now have commercial-free, clear, mostly uncut episodes for my viewing pleasure! The performances of the principle actors (all accomlished and highly respected stage actors first and foremost) and the excellent writing more than make up for the low budget of the series. I look forward to buying the second and third season boxed sets. And if the Powers That Be would be so kind, could they include the second and third season wrap reels? That's all the extras I care to have!

Summary: FK FInally released... Or is it?
Review: I pre ordered this outstanding series a month ago. I went to pickup my order first thing this morning. After watching the first ep, I have this to say to fans: While I do recommend you buy while you can, you need to be aware that Sony pictures has thrown you a bone. There are scenes missing!!!! I have both the american 1992 version, such as these DVDs are, and the canandian versions. They have kept some of the scenes in, but not all of them. In the beginning, Nick walks up a flight upstairs with a cop asking him how long Schanke had been here. Scifi channel has aired this and other scenes, but this one and a few others are missing so far. I am going to go through every ep and find out how much Sony cheated us out of. Write Sony and tell them to re release this title COMPLETE and UNCUT! No more cutting corners! Becasue of the cuts, I only rate this DVD 4 stars. www.sonypictures.com

Review: I finally have the FK DVD set and I have both positive and negative things to say about it. It's a must-have for any FK or vampire fan, but still has areas where it could have been improved. There are a few negatives, most noticeable the lack of *quality* and obvious compression. These are supposed to be DVDs right? Well, they have a lot of grain (the scene in "Last Act" at the precient in the beginning was the most obvious). The pixilation and grain is the worst on the first 2 DVDs (the ones with 5 episodes crammed together), although I can still see it on the others. It looks like they used some dusty old footage for these and didn't even try to clean that up. This is not nearly as obvious on the TV, but up-close on the computer it is very apparent. If Sony had used 6 discs (or more), these would probably have turned out a lot better. I was also disappointed by the lack of menu-work. The DVDs have a cool design and color scheme, but no animation leading up to it like fancier sets have. There's also no scene access menu by episode. Just a list of the episodes you can click on. Sony also used a lot of season 2 and 3 promo shots, which is generally wrong to do. You should always use shots from only the season featured. The biggest disappointment was "Dark Knight" part 1. It's only about 40 min - the CBS version. What they did was use the Canadian scenes, but cut out other parts, such as the scene with Nick and Alyce about Knights in armor and part of the Nick and Nat scene at the loft. I have no idea why they did this. It seems pointless to use the CBS logo too. They should have had a flashy *FK* logo before each episode. At least they stopped that after "Dark Knight." "Dark Knight" part 2 was ok - Canadian like all the others. Now, for some positives... Overall, the design and layout of the DVDs is very nice. It does fold out like other popular TV show sets (Highlander and Buffy for example). They have a special glossy coat only on the parts with the graphics, which gives it a semi 3-D feel. The discs are pretty simple, just the red with the Toronto skyline and they do blend in with the background. Another positive, is that it *is* for certain the Canadian version (except for "Dark Knight"). The episodes all run at about 48 min (the credits are over a min long though). Another thing that pleased me was the color enhancement and sound. Sony did spend some time making the color more accurate and added more saturation. The sound appears to be fine. I have not yet watched the episodes all the way through though. Overall, I am glad I have these DVDs, but I did have some disappointments. "0" extras, no scene access, and semi-grainy episodes. While the design was cool, that's not the most important thing. I wish Sony would have spent some time making them clearer and not shove them all on 5 discs. This set needed at least 6 discs to look good. I've viewed "La Femme Nikita" and "Highlander" on DVD and noticed that they have only 3 episodes per disc and are significantly clearer. FK has 5 episodes on 1 disc (shows you how much more it was compressed). Yes, the FK DVDs are still worth collecting (especially if you want the other seasons on DVD). They are uncut (except DK). These will look better than tape recordings (digital ones are questionable though - some areas it depends on the scenes).

Review: Now, don't get me wrong -- this was one of my guilty pleasures from the early 90's, but I only give it one star because Amazon asks to rate the DVD, not the series. I cannot see paying this much money for a DVD set with absolutely ZERO extras, and the fact that the American version is extremely cut. Columbia is charging a premium price for not much effort on their part (I'd buy it if they at least included the uncut shows). So, I'll wait until our Canadian friends put out their version (from their show) before I buy it. Please read the review by Robert C. Rogers - he knows his facts!

Review: okay i give the series 5 no 10 stars but we are being screwed with dvds as even the highlander box sets had european versions of episodes we are missing 7 to 9 minutes out of each episode and as this has 22 episodes we are missing 154 to 198 minutes of footage im gonna wait till uk versions come out as i dont buy things twice.

Summary: FOREVER KNIGHT KICKS ARSE!
Review: I LOVED this show to pieces when I was 15! My friend and I would spend countless wasted hours sitting on the internet at our Catholic high school reading inappropriate FK fan fiction. I even tried my hand at it, a parody called "Forever Catholic." Haha! Don't ask. I was messed up. When "Last Knight" aired I was so distraught that I literally sobbed for days on end! It is really great the powers that be are finally releasing this [great]show on DVD! It was "Buffy" and "Angel" early-90s-style, terrifically deep, and gave me a lot to meditate on. If you can't afford to buy these DVDs rent or steal them from someone who won't miss their beauty.

Summary: Now if they'd just DVD "The Sentinel"
Review: I didn't have a chance to watch too many episodes as it aired late in my area, but what I saw so long ago -- coupled with my sister's rabid and continued love of the show -- makes me only too happy to rate this series five stars and dish out some bucks for it. (Hopefully we really will get the rest of the eps!) Now if TPTB would just put "The Sentinel" (Richard Burgi and Garett Maggart) on DVD, life would be complete. :-)

Summary: Forever Knight - Best series EVER on television!
Review: Being, probably, the biggest fan of this intelligent and sexy series, I am psyched that it's finally on DVD! God Bless the producers for getting smart! I don't have to wait for it to be shown on cable again, which is usually out of order. The actors are all superb; in fact, I watch for them in other shows and series. The story lines are intelligent with the mortal struggle the "good vampires" go through; and with the romance and history the writers threw in, made this one of the best stories ever. I rate it up there with HBO's "Sex and the City" series... Forever Knight should have received Emmys, too! I've pre-ordered the first part of the "trilogy" and I own the music soundtrack - be sure to buy that, as well. Enjoy your DVD!

Summary: Late Night Viewing
Review: I came to discover the show when CBS aired "Forever Knight" that was a part of the Crimetime After Primetime. FOREVER KNIGHT was about a 700 year old vampire who is a homicide detective on the night shift in Toronto, Canada. He is looking to redeem himself with only one human sharing his secret, Doctor Natalie Lambert. Nat tries to help Nick become human again, but it is never successful. Nick has a partner, Schanke, who irritates Nick at times and provides comic moments at time (even at Schanke's expense). There are flashbacks to other centuries where Nick has travelled with Lacroix (the one who turned Nick into a vampire)and Jeanette. To me, Forever Knight is the best vampire series ever made right behind the classic British mini-series, ULTRAVIOLET. It may be a low budget series, but the writing aand acting makes up for whatever shortfalls there are in other departments. The show has spawned many websites, two soundtrack CDs, three out-of-print novels, and legions of fans. I finally watched most of the series agin (including many of the third season episodes I have never seen due to the USA/syndication craziness when USA dropped the show). The show is even better than I remembered. Finally the series is finally coming to DVD. If you're looking for something that is good (or better than) ANGEL or BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, buy this DVD set because you won't be disappointed. However, the DVD quality could be better. The quality on the first two discs suffer the most with ghosting the titles of each of teh 22 episodes.

Summary: It's about TIME!!!!
Review: I watched this when it first came out, and like all of the others, was extremely disappointed when it was cancelled. When Sci-Fi started airing it again-out of order- I tried to watch when I could. Thank goodness the execs finally decided to put it out, although the wait has made it that much more of a hit. Cannot wait to see Lacroix,Nick, Natalie, Tracy, and of course, Vachon (yum!) again.
