Summary: buy season one now!!!!
Review: Now, we all know that season 1 wasn't the greatest part of B5. Beginnings seldom are. They set the stage for whats to come (obviously).
If we don't buy season 1, i seriously doubt that WB will release the following seasons. So as for the guy above who reckoned we should wait for seasons 2-5, we can't afford to do that. And who wants to own only *part* of the series anyway? We're not talking rubbish trek stuff here. Its an entire novel for TV. Season 1 certainly has some reasons for buying it, but the biggest reason is that buying it will encourage WB to release the next seasons. so do us all a favour and order now!!

Summary: The Citizen Kane of American SciFi television
Review: I can't think of any way to "review" this series that can really do it justice, but that won't stop me from typing a few lines.

Babylon 5 is simply the best. From the arrival of Lyta Alexander (in the pilot, "The Gathering") to Delenn watching the sun come up (a cryptic, if final reference), this show not only "pushed the envelope," but created new envelopes to drop-kick over the horizon. This show works very well.

A lot of people will buy this series in its entirety, because they know how special it is. Those of you that haven't seen it are going to have to be convinced to put down a farily decent sum of money to see this epic. It's worth it. Season 1 isn't the fastest moving, but it introduces the characters and events that drive this series to fruition. I'm not going to make a plea that you buy this so that sales will be high enough to warrant the release of seasons 2 thru 5, because there are surely enough people that understand how good this show is and will buy it. To buy this Season 1 release is to make an investment that will pay off in spades with subsequent season releases...

Summary: Great!
Review: I grew up enjoying all sorts of TV shows from sitcoms, action, sci-fi, and drama but this 1 has to be at the top of all the shows I have watched. So many have written that it's a novel in TV form and they are correct but it's much more than that. I feel this is the first sci-fi show that had characters with major "human" imperfections. Before this show it seemed most sci-fi shows that no matter how dire the circumstances, how great the odds, how the person who shouldn't have any clue, somehow manages to save the day? This is not so in Babylon 5, though the characters may recover somewhat from their misdeeds sometimes they never did. As an American tv viewer this was the first sci-fi show I witnessed where the characters didn't always take the high road, or always stand up for morality. Egos, Addictions, Incompetence, Laziness, Greed, Good Intentions that pave the proverbial road, and all sorts of imperfections are abundant in the characters. Don't get me wrong many characters shine when you least expect them, and many characters were trying to do the right thing but even then let's just say they got rewarded in ways they might have rather not.

This show of course has morality, good vs. evil, space battles, future gizmos and the usual sci-fi fare. But you might find that watching this show 1 persons morality maybe be anothers evil, The good and evil may turn out to be just differing points of view which neither is what it seems, and rarely do the special effect and gizmos take precedence over the story.

Some people have written that season 1 was the weak season of the 5, but I know it's what hooked me, because the promise was there that this would be something worth taking an hour a week to watch and enjoy. I'm not going into details about what exactly goes on .

So if you like a show that develops characters, good acting, great stories, memorable moments, and of course twists that you didn't see coming, definetely give this one a look.

Summary: Hands down best show in the history of television
Review: ...One warning, do NOT spend the $$$ on this season unless you will be able to afford the rest of the series once it is released. Once you get started, you will beg, cheat and steal to get your hands on the rest. It is worse than drugs. There simply is no other more compelling story that has ever been told on screen. You do not believe me?... Read some of the reviews. Now, I admit that the first season is not it's strongest, but you should buy it because 1) it is essential for understanding the 4th season; 2) the subsequent seasons will only be released if sales are good. So don't see any movies for a month and spend the $ on Babylon 5. You will not regret it.

Summary: A must-have, but...
Review: If you are the least bit into sci-fi, you need to have the B5 DVD collection, no questions asked. But what's the deal with the price over there? In Europe, this item sells at 25$. You're better off ordering this set from amazon.de, having it shipped over to the US and get a code-free chip for your DVD player.

Apart from that: You can't do anything wrong, buying this set.

Summary: Finally! A milestone SF series on DVD!
Review: ... So I got to watch them in marathon-style fashion to catch up to what was currently happening. I was awe-struck at the genius of the intertwining story arcs, and how nothing ever seemed to drop thru the cracks, like some series' story lines do when it becomes inconvenient to continue them. JMS is a genius, as well, but anyone who watches the show will know that. Thanks WB for putting these out on DVD. Just don't stop now, or you may find thousands of rabid B5 fans banging on your gates for the REST of the seasons on DVD!!!

Summary: Skip Season 1 and buy Seasons 2, 3, 4, 5 & In The Beginning
Review: I am a HUGE Babylon5 fan. It's the best sci-fi ever produced for television! BUT I recommend you *not* buy season 1, because the only "must see" episodes are Signs & Portents and Chrysalis. The other episodes are more-or-less stand-alone short stories that range from almost entertaining to disasterous. BABYLON 5 was a novel-for-television with a continuing storyline (similar to Buffy), but like Buffy this show did not explode with drama until Season 2. So, if you want to save yourself some money and time, skip Season 1 and buy Seasons 2, 3, 4, 5 & the movie In The Beginning. Trust me, this show IS worth the investment... just like any classic novel you'll watch it again and again.

Summary: You Know What ... About the B5 DVD's?
Review: What really ... about the Babylon 5 DVD Collection is that it took so ... long to release them! As a lifelong (well, I'm 48 so I'm 12 years older than) Star Trek fan, a true "get a life" kind of guy who never thought Star Trek would be surpassed, well I nowadays tell folks that the best tv SciFi show PERIOD is Babylon 5. Heck, it may be the best TV show ever, of any genre.

Show WB and JMS that these can outsell all the Trek stuff! Buy a copy of the DVD's for yourself, your friends, your dog, etc. Be creative!

Keep 'em coming!

Summary: DVD's
Review: I am so glad this show is finally coming out on DVD. I have been watching Babylon 5 since it began almost 10 years ago. This first season was the beginning of one of the best television saga's in the history of television. One of the greatest things about this show is that it always tied everything together. There was very rarely an "alien of the week" or plot lines that never connected beyond that episode. B5 drew the audience in with some of the best writing (the majority of the show was written by JMS) and directing and acting I have ever seen. I cannot wait to watch it again.

Summary: Thank God! Finally!
Review: Good Lord I have been waiting for this day! Alright, so now everyone that loves Babylon 5 MUST buy this DVD set so every season will come out on DVD! Considering Sci-Fi no longer shows the original B5 (Crusade, blah), this is awesome. I'm glad the Pilot/In the Beginning sold so well. This is our chance to let WB know how much we love the series, and let them know we are willing to fork out the $$.
