Summary: Intriguing and Original
Review: As someone not old enough to have seen the Apollo landings as they happened, I still felt a sense of awe while watching this series. The fact that we have not been back to the Moon is disappointing. Perhaps watching this series can stir up our sense of adventure again. The crisp DVD image and audio makes this a worthwhile addition to my collection.

Summary: A must have for any history buff of human space travel
Review: This story (really a history) has been worth every cent I paid for it. I have been a real fan of human space flight (and NASA in general). This series shows many peoples points of view of the Apollo program, astronauts to the contractors that built the machine. Like the movie Apollo 13, there is more than one angle. I have watched it many times, and never get bored with it. I am pleased to have it as one of my early DVD titles. I am 42, and it (to use the early 70's word, FREAKS me out) to think about the youth of today who only read about this stuff in history books. I lived it on TV as a teenager. I have never looked at the moon the same since. I see it and remember the years that humans walked there. It is now a place humans have visited. This series describes just how much work from so many different people it took to get there. I will watch it until the disk wears out.

Summary: THE BEST!!!
Review: As one of the world's biggest space-junkies, I was totally impressed by this series. It sticks to the facts (and believe me, I have the books and the knowledge to prove it), the special effects are unbelievable, and the quality of the writing and acting is superb. Every child in America should see "From the Earth to the Moon" so that we as a nation do not give up that natural urge to explore. See this video...crank up your surround sound...and dare to dream!

Summary: This is the reason that you bought a DVD player.
Review: If you aren't convinced by all of the other glowing reviews of this DVD set, I guess that I am not going to convince you either... But, if you bought a DVD player and you are wondering what is so great about it. BUY THIS SET! It is THE REASON why you have a DVD player.

Summary: ***** PHENOMENAL *****
Review: I felt that something like this was vastly overdue. Not just because of the billions of $ that the American taxpayer paid for our space program, but for all the achievements, successes and failures that were made in our years after WWII. There are thousands upon thousands of people, young and old, that made their contributions to America's space program, from White Sands Proving Grounds in 1945 to those that build the launch vehicles that lift off at Cape Canaveral and other locales worldwide today. These unknown faces did their time in school, did their homework, did their special projects, did their bookwork, did their thing, period. For all of us. This is a tribute to all of mankind. For all the unknown faces of the worker, engineer, family, typists, space enthusiast, every day people, this is you and me. Hope they do one for Project Mercury and Project Gemini...

Summary: A MASTERPIECE!
Review: Tom Hanks' love of the U.S. space program shines through this 12-hour event. His passion and zeal catapults the Apollo program to new heights and will re-awaken your spirit and pride in America. Superb. Exhilarating. Suspenseful. If America returns to the moon before 2010, it will have to be credited to the efforts of Tom Hanks and Ron Howard! This DVD is definitely worth the investment!

Summary: Excellent chronicle of the Apollo space program
Review: Tom Hanks did a wonderful job in making the Apollo adventure come alive to TV audiences across the United States. The best part of the series is how it portrays the astronauts, the engineers, and the rest of the people who helped get the astronauts to the moon.

What inspired me is watching the astronauts at work. Their attitudes and approaches toward solving difficult problems were simply a riot! I especially love the episode about the Apollo 12 crew and how they enjoyed their adventures to the fullest.

I also love the episode on LM engineers. I'm an engineer myself, and I appreciate the accuracy of their characterization. I especially appreciate the parts of the episode in which engineers work all night to build a model and having the astronauts getting frustrated durning integration testing. I see both of those parts on in my job often. (Well, not with astronauts, but with fellow engineers and system testers.)

In addition, Michael Kamen's theme music certainly conveys the inspirational quality of the series. I plan on buying the CD and sticking the title track on repeat...

All in all, this series is definitely worth buying. (Perhaps the bigwigs in Hollywood would pick up the hint to do more high quality documentary drama on science and space related topics if the sales of this series is good enough. Hint, hint.)

Summary: BEST DVD TO DATE
Review: The Best anything ever made to TV. If you are a space program fan stop reading and buy it (also buy Apollo 13 and the Right Stuff). Great quality video, TV format and great sound. If you have a DVD and don't have this title you are missing 90% of the fun. Tom Hanks is THE celebrity of the century !!!
