Review: Amber Benson, if you're out there reading this, I'm sorry, I have nothing against you, you're a great acress, but the reason this season of Buffy rules is because they finally killed of the wussiest stupidest lamest loser ever, Tara!! I was so glad when they removed her from our existence, it was such a sigh of relief.Anyway, this is a great season of Buffy. It uniquely showcases the torment one would have after being ripped from heaven into a box buried under the ground. Every cast member grows and mature more than any other season, and Spike is phenomenal. Oh yeah, Xander gets to save the world, what more could you want?!? Buy this DVD, it's the best thing ever!!

Summary: Life is the Big Bad -- Reality TV Seeps into your SCI FI
Review: Season Six found Buffy dead and on a new network. What a handicap to start off! What resulted was a dark but interesting time in the Vampire Slayer's 7 season run. Season Six deals with "the Freshman year of life" -- it's an ugly year for most people. Buffy creators try to reflect reality through their Sci Fi mirror, so they let everything fly. The season dealt with addiction, more death, and worst of all trying to find your own identity when you have to grow up. You make mistakes - big ones! And so does Buffy and the whole Scooby gang. LIFE turns out to be the biggest villan Buffy has ever faced, and worse still ... you can't beat it. Season Six boasted some of the most ambitious episodes ever -- "DOUBLEMEAT PALACE" finds Buffy working in fast food, "ONCE MORE WITH FEELING" gave us a musical where demon choruses chimed along with singing Scoobies!, and then we have the DARK WILLOW saga in which our favorite witch proves her vampire alter ego from seasons past was her darkside on a good day! There are the trio of villans who turn out to be normal guys with delusions. They sadly come to represent a tragic flaw in our society we've seen played out in high schools again and again. It was an ambitious place to go, and some fans reacted strongly to the new tact. But the show stayed poignant, just got more dark and twisted - notably when Buffy and Spike got together and things go horribly horribly wrong in one of the most horrifying scenes in the series ever in Buffy's bathroom. Horrifying cause it all seemed so real! The DVDs come in the six fold packaging we've come to expect. The menus are simpler -- no montages this time, just an urn of Osiris spits out dust with episode titles. TONS of EXTRAS on the musical episode, and the commentaries. A season overview and a panel discussion at the Academy of Radio Arts and Sciences. Two minutes of outtakes from this season are included -- oddly only showing certain characters flubbing lines ... no Gellar bad takes(?). The star is never in the extras for some reason. Probably contract disputes. But they get around that by including an A&E special called "TELEVISION WITH BITE" that documents the show and has Sarah Michelle Gellar talking about Buffy ... at last on DVD! So the extras are full on this time out!

Summary: Underrated season, with more bonus material than ever!
Review: The first thing you may notice about this set is that it has more bonus features than the previous DVD sets. In addition to the obligatory (and always well-done) season overview, there are outtakes, karaoke music videos (!) and plenty of supplemental material on the musical episode "Once More, with Feeling." And even a somewhat amateurish but still very interesting panel discussion with several cast members and production personnel. As for the show itself, season 6 has been maligned for being too dark, and its main villains not worthy successors to the "Big Bad"'s of the past. I don't think either of these are fair criticisms. After the events of season five, culminating in Buffy's death, there had to be a long road back to getting things the way they were. Buffy made some very HUMAN mistakes along the way, as did some of the other characters. Yeah, it was depressing in places...but that's life. As for the villains, I think the writers figured it was time to lighten up, especially considering the events mentioned above. And for fans of horror/sci-fi/fantasy, etc., the "Trio" were a delight, with their nonstop, often obscure pop culture references. And of course, it wasn't the boys who turned out to be the REAL Big Bad of season six. Alyson Hannigan was consistently amazing throughout the season. And this probably could go without saying, but "Once More, with Feeling" has got to be one of the top ten hours of television ever produced. Buy it already!

Summary: Best Season of Buffy
Review: This was the greatest season of Buffy. Some episode are a little strange but the story line just takes you to anther level. My favorite episodes from this season are Bargaining, After Life, Life Serial, OMWF, Tabula Rasa, Smashed, Wrecked, Older And Far Away, Hell's Bell's, Normal Again**** , Entropy, Seeing Red, Villains, Two To Go, Grave. All the episodes were great but these really stood out for me. As supernatural as it is I can always relate to these characters. We all go through grief, happiness, anger , and sadness. This show knows how to explore these emotions on a higher level . I love this show!!!!!!! thanks to all who worked on it.

Summary: 6th Season proved the quality of this show
Review: While the general consensus is that it's "downright depressing" for the lot of it, true Buffy fans can all agree it only made the show stronger. It shows the weakness of shows that most people dare not tread - showing overall quality of story by sacrificing stereotypes of "similar" shows. Having people watch an episode and not feeling fullfilled by the end of it, maybe even feeling, heaven forbid, left morally confused! That's just blasphemy! It went the deep dark path by having Willow be down right evil. Willow? Evil? *dramatic gasp* NO WAY! But they pulled it off and did it WELL. They made the cute sheepish little scooby the dark witch of death with the very classic line of "Bored now..." Going thru her "drug" addiction which made me fall in love with Alyson's amazing acting. Her crying and expression of despair and pain could make Stallone cry she's that good. Ever used to like a character but then get flat out annoyed by them? It's normally because they are geared to go that way, meaning the writers want you to hate them because they will go evil or be written off. Yet there's Dawn. During her sister's time of utter dispair (and everyone else's) she's being a typical teenage brat. Why? Just to show you the most human side of every character. You began to hate her and you know it. But your supposse to (you're all just Joss' puppets!). Xander leaving Anya at the alter, very crazy - but still living strong as everyone in Joss Whedon's universe will never live a happy relationship life. *deep sigh* Buffy getting the only happiness she can feel with Spike, again very ... creepy. But it's not that hard to see. I mean the thought of a Slayer doing the naughty with a vampi-- wait, that's been done... how about one without a sou-- oh come on let's face it - it's SPIKE! But she did it to feel *something* and did it with the person she could now relate to more than everyone else. And anyone who's lived any kind of life at all can see where that emotional emptiness desperation comes from. They just don't want to see it. But Yay for Joss' "Oh no, it's here and - BAM - right in front of you now! muahahahahahha!" attitude. But just even to nitpick the monumental episodes - Tabula Rasa is one of the greatest of the series, the musical was just downright unbelievable, and then there's the finale. While you may scoff at the "hideous" idea that the one of the most destructive forces of mankind was stopped by her best friend's love. You cannot say a word without seeing it yourself. Again - Alyson SHINED this season, gloriously and that ending was remarkable. Most of the other reviews will just go to show - if it's not happy in the end, people don't like it. The season ONLY ended with a very ominous feeling, not a lot of "satisfaction". But it was just plain out, for the better of the series there's no denying that. This season is not meant for the people who don't appreciate good writing and an amazing story.

Summary: Dark, but fabulous
Review: It's true, this season was a dark time for all of the characters. With that out of the way, I can say that it was my favorite season of the show. The places that the characters explored this season added layers to the characters and the storyline of the buffyverse. While the nerds are there as Big Bad decoys, they beautifully function as comic relief, while the true big bads of the season are the characters themselves. Communication breaks down amongst the friends, and everyone has to face the internal "demons." The season serves as a wonderfully written character study, with bonuses like the hilarity that is "Once More With Feeling" and the steamy buffy/spike angst filled romance (if it can be called that). Spike's evolution in this season is enough reason to watch it. If you are not put off by a bit of the dark, you will be rewarded with wit, originality, and depth.

Summary: Buffy at it's worst still beats most television shows
Review: There are a few great episodes of season 6. Life Serial was funny and so was Tabula Rasa. Then Grave, the season finale, was pretty good. The musical, OMWF, was undoubtedly the best of the season. But overall season 6 wasn't nearly up to Buffy standards. I realize Joss was trying to make the characters grow up and make it seem more real but out of all the seasons, season 6 gave the most fantasy and unrealistic vibe. Before, the characters are much easier to relate to. If Whedon was trying to show the level of suffering they had to go through, I think he failed because I found Buffy and the gang suffered so much more greatly in previous seasons. I didn't enjoy watching Buffy and Spike's graphic sex, nor did I like seeing Willow completely change being so addicted to magic. The trio was pointless and the episodes lost a lot of the humor they once had. I didn't want to see Spike try to rape Buffy! I suggest you watch it, but not to buy the season, because other than the episodes mentioned previously, most are not worth viewing a second time. I gave it three stars because there is a bunch of crap on television today and even though I wouldn't buy this season, it still blows other television shows out of the water.

Summary: I love this show!
Review: I love this show! There are some programs somebody likes because they have nice characters that remind them of somebody they know, or because there is beautiful scenery, or beause they enjoy the kind of story. But I like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I cant even say why! It's kind of dorky but that isnt a problem, andthe characters are memorable ... but its much more than that! Maybe this is love because I know what I feel but I cant describe it!

This season and the next are personally my favorite because I think the relationship between Buffy and Spike is genuine and "hot" You can see the passion and emotions, so thats why i would rate this one a must see. The whole episode where James turns bad, not the best, don't like to relive those memories. Even though James doesn't have a soul yet, he still cares soo much about Buffy and that shows his true and gentle side. So if your in love with James, you need this season!!
