Summary: Spike in th nude....need I say more?
Review: What can I say about this episode besides Spike in the nude.... He is naked a lot in this season. But there was much more going on than Spike getting naked. One of the main things that happened this season was a path of grief and addiction to turn Willow into an evil that Buffy couldn't even beat. When Willow resurects Buffy, it was selfish and she suffered the knowledge of that when she learned Buffy was happy and at peace. Then, Willow loses Tara due to an addiction to magic. She begins using it more to try to stop the pain like deratting Amy and seeing a warlock who gives her even more power. After almost killing Dawn in a ancident due to her magic addiction Willow stops using magic completely. Just when everything starts to look up and Tara takes Willow back, tragedy striks and Tara dies directly in front of Willow. We've seen Willow's wrath because of losing a lover in season 4's "Something Blue", but this time everything vanishes but the rage inside and Willow goes on a killing spree. Of course the nerd trio played an important part n the season. Warren had to be the horrid little rat. Andrew was the confused comic relief who nobody remebered his name, and jonathan was a familar face who, as we saw, still can't handle being a nobody. And by season 7, Jonathan realizes that it doesn't matter and he cares about everyone who doesn't care about him anyway. "Once more with feeling" was a spectacular episode which you will be humming the tunes to for days after watching. "Entropy" saw a moment of my two favorite characters Spike and Anya being all "together" and even though the two of them couldn't betogether because of certain circumstances, they had wonderful chemistry. 'tabula Rasa" showed Anya and giles as a couple, Spike as Giles' son, and Willow and Xander as a couple. The rape seen in "Seeing Red" was deeply disturbing, and it forces Spike to leave town and get a soul. "dead things" had one of my favorite seens ever where Buffy and Spike were on either sides of the door to spike's crypt and only the door seperated their hands. That episode also contained the controversal line "You hurt the ones you love", Spike told her that after she beat the crap out of him and she used the line later on to explain why warren did the thing he did. So buy Season six, think what ever you want about the Buffy/Spike relationship, Willow's downfall, wether or not Xander and Anya's breakup was the right thing to do, and boogie down with the musical. P.S. the seen where Xander walks in on Spike having sex with an invisable Buffy is a moment you'll never live down.!!!

Summary: Can you say "Jumped the shark"?
Review: Yes, it has the musical, but what the ones writing sonnets don't get is breaking of the relationships that defined the show killed it. Giles taking off, Buffy sleeping with Spike and invalidating the Angel relationship, the Geek Villians.. that is the definition of "jumping the shark" as when Happy Days died after the Fonz literally jumped a shark with his motorcycle. The original premise of the show, a small quirky blonde teen saving the world, was also invalidated as Buffy Summers became a morose burger-flipper slacker who just got caught in strange circumstances each week. Season Six was an anticlimax from Season Five, and a let-down as Joss ran off to do Firefly. The whole "why am I back from the dead?" was Joss revisiting his failed attempt of Alien: Resurrection. The series never answered this question very well. It just didn't, but that's a discussion for when they do Season 7 on DVD. :)

Summary: Great Season! Great Extras!
Review: Creator of Buffy, Joss Whedon, sure knows how to pull the rug out from under you. Just when you think "oh a hell-god as the big bad (from the previous season)they can't top THAT!' Whedon does.Life is the big bad! Buffy gets into some things this season that some viewers might think is heaps dodgy and unlike her character. However in the epic storyline that travels from season 1 through to 7 this season was completely necessary in the growth of the characters.And don't worry the season finale has a big battle, just as with the previous seasons. Over the season Buffy, Xander, Willow, and the gang learn that they've all become grown ups and have to deal with scary adult stuff. This is where season 6's similarity with season 3 comes in. In season 3 growing up and being in high school was freaky and amplified by the fact that it all happened for the scooby gang on a hellmouth. Season 6 is much the same but instead of thinking of their future careers and surviving high school the gang must survive life. Buffy deals with bills, Xander and Anya deal with getting married, while Willow deals with her future as a witch. Meanwhile as this arc continues throughout the season the writers of "Buffy" are consistent in creating "oners" (episodes that don't necessarily link with the rest of the season); monster-of-the-week episodes. One such episode is the musical, "Once More With Feeling", which allows fans and new viewers alike to enjoy. In this episode the residents of Sunnydale, including the scooby gang, start breaking out into song thanks to the arrival of a song-and-dance demon. Another great episode is "Normal Again", where Buffy wakes up in a mental institution and must decide which life she believes to be real - the world in which she is a slayer and fights demons, or the world in which things are much more simple and demons don't exist. As Buffy starts turning on her friends this episode is definately a stand-out episode of the season. One of my favourite episodes is "Older and Far Away", where Buffy and the scoobies find themselves trapped in Buffy's house with a demon. Dvd features are the best out of all six seasons on dvd. Many hours of extras have gone into these discs, particularly for the musical. There's a great featurette on the last disc that is like a documentary on all of buffy - with clips from season 1, all the way through to season 7! If you want a strong season, great extras and quality dvd (widescreen etc.) you'll be a fan of this package. Look out for easter eggs.

Summary: Life without Angel
Review: I am a huge fan of Buffy and this was my favorite season. I loved season 4 and 5, but I still missed the days of season 2 and 3. Season six came out with a new style and I loved it. It was dark, but some of the best episodes of the earliest seasons were the darker ones (Angel turning evil). I also liked the fact that they took a break from constantly fighting the big evil (like Glory in season 5, or the first in season 7) and fought their own demons. A very emotional season, and the evil trio brought in enough laughs to make give this season its usual comic feeling. They were hilarious and I missed them in season 7. In fact I missed everything in season 7. There were not as many emotional scenes and many of missed opportunity such as exploring Faith and Buffy's relationship more. The whole season was just about the war with the First. In my opinion, season 6 is the last real season of Buffy. I am stopping my collection after this one.

Summary: Remarkable, Difficult, Genius, Unsettling, Perfection
Review: I know what you're expecting as you begin this review. Another person complaining about the sixth season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". You're wrong. Let me explain why I give this excellent season five well-deserved stars. I have seen every episode of Buffy because it is my favorite show. I have witnessed everything from "The Gift" (a phenominal episode) to "Beer Bad" (my least favorite). Through all of the ups and downs, all of the relationships and fights and demons... the sixth season remains my favorite. Here goes. As I mentioned in my title, this season is almost a contradiction of itself. It is remarkable and genius, as well as difficult and unsettling. This season addresses the theory that "when it rains, it pours". After the death of Buffy in the season 5 finale ("The Gift") fans wondered what the show would be doing in the next season. How could a show go on without its star? It couldn't. In the season premiere of the sixth season the Scooby Gang resurrects Buffy for selfish reasons. They miss their friend, and so bend the rules of the universe and bring her back to life. And thus, the season descends into darkness. We still get those episodes that are funny, clever and nice to watch. Episodes like "Tabula Rasa" (in which the gan looses their memories) and "Once More, With Feeling" (the musical extravaganza). But we also get episodes like "Smashed", "Seeing Red", "Entropy" and "Grave". They each have moments in them that are just plan hard to watch. The show discusses topics that seemed off limits before. Adult topics. Rape, murder, betrayal, lust, and depression. A lot of people give this season grief for lack of a strong central Big Bad. But besides the fun "Geek Trio" and Willow, our friends in the Scooby Gang must battle with their darkest enemies yet: themselves. We are shown the dark sides of people we thought we knew. Xander can't quite commit because of his horrible home life. Willow becomes addicted to magic; a crutch that will cost her everything. Buffy wants to feel something, anything, so falls into the convienient arms of Spike. Sure, this season will make you uncomfortable at times. But it will also make you cry, laugh, jump with fright, sit on the edge of your seat and root for the heroes- even when their all black hair and veins. Maybe its not the Buffy you have grown comfortable with- but how many shows can claim to cause so much emotion? This is amazing television. Give it a second chance.

Summary: One word about this under rated season .... BRILLIANT
Review: Watch through every episode and tell , just tell me that this is a bad season . It is impossible to say that ANY season of Buffy is bad , but I have to say that more than ONE can say that this season is horrible . I for one , am not one of them .

.... wrong . It does not have to have action for it too be and awesome season . Also , the departure of WB made fans upset and just added to the angst and hate of season six .
I believe that this is by far ( along with season seven ) the best season of Buffy history . It takes guts to make such a dark and in the shadows season and put it on air . Here are the episodes in order as they go and a small description and review .
1 + 2 - Bargaining ( Parts 1 and 2 ) - Wow what else to say about this episode .... lots of things happen as the slayer is resurrected in this opener , Giles departs for England now that Buffy is gone . 5 stars
3 - After Life - Great Episode , one of the darkest is for sure and has to do with Buffy barely alive and adjusting to life again 5 stars
4 - Flooded - Buffy has a flood in her basement as she find out that her house has been losing insurance for the past six years , Also Giles comes back from England - 2 stars
5 - Life Serial - haha , an episode that makes you go HAHA , it also introduces the new big bad the trio ( Warren , Johnathan , Andrew ) 4 stars
6 - All The Way - Fantastic , I just not that long ago realized how great and interesting this episode is 5 stars
7 - Once More With Feeling ( Musical ) - Ahem . Does it need more to say ? 5 stars
8 - Tabula Rasa - Another great and funny episode , you get to see Willow straight again , Giles also leaves for England again once more . 4 stars
9 - Smashed - Dark , very dark and starts up Buffy's constant and unhealty sexual relationship with Spike 5 stars
10 - Wrecked - Explains Willow's magic gig , she's a little off the deep end this episode and almost gets Dawn killed 4 stars
11 - Gone - Buffy is shot by the Trio's invisibility ray and is turned invisible ( obviously ) , she is also told by a Social Services worker that she will be eyed on because of the other day 4 stars
12 - Doublemeat Palace - Most hated episode of the season , but do I hate it ? of course not .... Buffy is at a new job , and it involves fast food . 5 stars
13 - Dead Things - Again , one of the darkest and definetly one of the best .... Begins with the most ratial sex scene in the whole season . It deals with Buffy thinking she is a murderer . 5 stars
14 - Older and Farther Away - It's Buffy Birthday !!!! .... again .... and she might not get out of the house . 3 stars
15 - As You Were - Buffy is visited by Riley again and sees what she could of had when she meets his wife . Buffy also tells Spike she's been using him as a way to " feel " . 2 stars
16 - Hell's Bells - Xander and Anya's Wedding turns out to be a disaster when Xander finds out that Anya and him might not have the marriage that planned and thought out to be . 4 stars
17 - Normal Again - Buffy gets demon blood into her which starts to put her into an alternate universe where Joyce and Hank are with her in a mental institution and all her Vampire Slaying life was not real . Anya also becomes a vengeance demon again . 5 stars
18 - Entropy - Buffy , Xander , and Willow are shown the scene of Anya and Spike having sex while they are trying to find out information about the trio , meanwhile Buffy's affair with Spike is thrown into the mix . 5 stars
19 - Seeing Red - Xander is dealing , and drinking when found out about Buffy's relationship with Spike , Buffy is raped by Spike as a spurt of anger and Willow and Tara restart over until things come to an end as Xander and Buffy make up in the backyard as Tara and Buffy are shot by Warren . 5 stars
20 - Villians - Buffy is rushed to the hospital while Willow goes to the deepest and darkest of magics .... which leads to her flaying and brutally killing Warren . 5 stars
21 + 22 - Two to Go and Grave ( A Heart Stopping Two part season Finale ) - Buffy and the gang have now seen Willow on her cranky side as she starts to go after Johnathan and Andrew .
Her anger leads to a confrontation with Buffy , Giles returning from England , and her trying to end and destroy the world . Meanwhile , Spike is in Africa and wins in his struggle to get a soul . 5 stars
Well that is it , the whole sixth season , I dearly recommend it !!!!

Summary: Uneven, but it's Buffy, and it's entertainment
Review: Season 6 was definitely a mixed bag, and for most hardcore fans, a huge disappointment from the sharpness of the first five seasons. What went wrong? How could good writers suddenly turn so bad? Sure, the show had switched networks from the WB to UPN, but that shouldn't have made a difference. It was still produced by Mutant Enemy, still owned by Fox, Fox was/is still owned by Rupert Murdoch, and the cast remained unchanged. However, beginning this season, Marti Noxon took over as head writer so that the creator, Joss Whedon, could focus his energies on other projects. Marti had previously turned out such masterpieces as: "What's My Line? parts 1 and 2," "Surprise," "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered," "I Only Have Eyes for You," "The Wish," and "The Prom." In all of the above examples, she had demonstrated not only excellent knowledge of the show's characters, but a clear ability to carry a series based on the metaphors and other literary devices of real life struggles manifested in the demon world. But then in Season 4, episodes with her name on them began to show a notable lack of quality. (Not that this was entirely her fault; thinking back, some of those episodes couldn't have been helped at all, in no small part because Riley was central in them, I'm sure.) Buffy was always a show that took place in a universe where monsters, demons, and vampires existed. But what made it work was that it stayed grounded in reality. The supernatural perils the gang faced were often allegories for real-life struggles, or accentuations of personal problems. Despite the fact that Buffy and her friends dealt with rather atypical challenges for young adults (demons, apocalypses, etc.), they still had normal, real-life issues that they stressed over, as we can assume any real, sane person would, even in such a situation. These characters were like real people. The show thrived on the characters, the issues, and the sharp writing. And all of that began to crumble in Season 6. Beginning Season 6, Buffy was no longer a show which dealt with, as one of my acquantances put it, "real issues through the sci-fi/horror filter." It was just basically a flat show about people in the real world where monsters existed; it lost a lot of depth. Of course, there were some wonderful exceptions ("Once More, with Feeling" and "Normal Again), but for many of the episodes (like "Doublemeat Palace," "Smashed," and "Wrecked), the "sci-fi/horror" filter of reality was either weakly attempted or just not there. Worse, the characters were handled shoddily, to put it mildly. We felt as though the core members of the so-called Scooby Gang--Buffy, Xander, Willow, and Giles--had been lost, even though Giles was the only one who actually moved out of Sunnydale. I suppose we can almost understand Buffy's behavior because of her unglorious resurrection, but I hold my ground they took the Spike/Buffy liaison to lengths that were not only astronomical compared to their meaning, but also very painful to watch. But the writers' distorted depiction of Buffy was nothing compared to that of Xander and Willow. Throw in the out-of-balance, almost nonsensical vices of those two, and you begin to see that Season 6 was an attempt to show the dark side of good people--a theme which would have been very interesting had it not been so contrived in many places. I do not understand what could have caused Mutant Enemy or Marti Noxon to take this tragic downfall. At best, I can only assume that UPN is evil, and that anything it touches withers and dies on principle. Whatever caused it, however, took a huge tool; as an avid Buffy fan, I was seriously disappointed with what the creators turned out relative to the earlier seasons. But despite its downtrodden quality, Season 6 still has its moments where we are reminded that yes, these ARE the characters and this IS the show that we love and care about, along with several very nice episodes ("Bargaining parts 1 and 2," "Once More, with Feeling," "Tabula Rasa," and the darker but still creative "Normal Again"). At the very least, I still knew I was watching one of the best shows on TV, even if it wasn't as good as it used to be. And the last four episodes of the season, while set in motion by a horrible misuse of Willow in a previous episode, are easy to watch and end a dark year with a promising note. (Unfortunately, they never delivered on that promise, but I'll save that for my review of Season 7.) Any fan of Buffy should at least consider buying this set, if not just for the four episodes mentioned above. Of course, there will be those who will just buy up through Season 5 because for them, Buffy ended with "The Gift," and that's understandable. But I'm buying them all.

Review: While everybody wonder about weddings, majick, break ups, halloween teen boy, and leaving town, there comes the girl, the chosen one, the one born in all the world with the strenght and skill to save the world from evil and vampires, but there's she was F***in' Spike and avoiding her sister.
When Buffy died she died with a smile on her face, she comes back pissed???
A great season, not the best (since 3&5 are the best) but very interesting, besides it includes the "Once more with feeling" musical episode,
and the Willow pissed off finale (Seeing red, Villians, Two to go, & Grave)

Summary: Season 6: Why I Even Started Watching "Buffy"
Review: I don't understand what some fans are talking about: I found this season to be the most interesting and most compelling of any of them. After years of pooh-poohing the thought of a show with such a silly name, and for lack of anything better to do one night (when season 6 was already into re-runs), I finally broke down and decided to watch my first-ever episode of Buffy; it was love at first bite. After watching the entire season, I immediately went out and bought the first two seasons (all that was available at that time), each subsequent one the SECOND it became available, and have been waiting patiently for Season 6 ever since. Yes, it's dark, and yes, it's admittedly painful, but that is exactly why it's so good, especially in light of the developement over the previous seasons. Joss Whedon is a certifiable genius.

Summary: Good Season...
Review: I haven't seen all of season six but i've seen most of it; or atleast what i can get from kazaa and recorded re-runs of the show. First of all this may not apply to everyone, but i started watching Buffy in the sixth season, actually "Smashed" was one of the first episodes i watched that made me an official buffy fan, that's why i like this season the most, cause it was my first. I love the chemistry between Buffy and Spike, and people may think its just another imitation of what Angel and Buffy had before, but its also way different, because their relationship has way more controversy. Also i like the season finale, where Willow steps up, and gets to be the big bad for once, because she was always portrayed, from the beginning of the show, as the highschool goody-goody, and its nice to see her in a different state. I agree that this season is darker than the others, but as it gets darkr it also takes a further step in displaying the reality of life (ie: when Spike attempts to rape Buffy in "Seeing Red"). It's hard to stick with one state of mind, because there were times when i didnt like this season, but overall i think its my favorite.
