Summary: LONG AWAITED RELEASE
Review: I had been waiting for a quality release of this series for some time now,the British release of the series was taken from poor prints and reduced the enjoyment to say the least.Also some shoddy editing rendered certain aspects of the series even more confusing than David Lynch would have liked.For example the Sarah Palmer flashback to someone digging up Lauras necklace was completly missing in the show but did feature on the reprise!Also the first glimpse of Bob in the living room mirror was also trimmed...it took me 10 years to discover it existed.This release has not only filled in these annoying gaps but included a wealth of features which after two weeks I am still enjoying and discovering!The show was never fully appreciated in Britain and it is reassuring to see that a worldwide market has realised the importance of this show.Apart from the crisp quality and superb sound,the features contain alot of input from the "Wrapped in Plastic" squad,again a magazine very hard to pick up in my part of the world.Their love of the show shines through and I often wish such fan involvment could be utilised across more cult shows.Highlight for me was the interview with the lady who owns the RR diner,such a matter of fact lady really brought a personal perspective to the entire proceedings.Again I cannot recommend this release enough,roll on Season2.

Summary: It's beautiful
Review: We all know about Twin Peaks, so this review is not an analysis of the theory of Lynch. This review is just about the quality of the set. Okay, the pilot is not included. It's pretty easy to acquire if you are interested. I'm new to Twin Peaks, so I realized that I had to get the pilot elsewhere when I rented the first disk of Twin Peaks: The First Season (Special Edition) on DVD. I was pretty unhappy. Nevertheless, I got the pilot, and while I was at it, I bought the first season on DVD. Why not? If I was going to own the pilot, why not own the entire first season? A good analysis of the available purchase options for this wonderful series is available on Amazon.com. Check it out. After I watched the pilot and learned what to expect, I began watching Episode 1. These DVDs are absolutely beautiful. The picture quality and the remastered soundtrack are to die for. I really hope that Artisan releases the rest of the series. I'd hate to be forced to supplement this beautiful collection with VHS. Final analysis: If you like Twin Peaks, this set is really worth buying. It's really beautiful. Plus, you have the option of skipping to your favorite scenes and the option of the Log Lady introductions from Twin Peaks' rerun on Bravo.

Summary: Orange on Orange?
Review: A superb show--very refreshing and original. The acting of some of the minor characters was less than excellent. But to be fair, these were only television episodes, not full-blown movies with multi-million dollar budgets and an all-star cast. My real complaint concerns the menu page. The type is orange on a similar orange background, making it extrememly difficult to read. I've had to use the trial-and-error method to find the features. However, once found, they've proven to be rich complements to the show. If you don't consider the price too steep, then I recommend making this purchase. Caveat Emptor: this item does not come with the pilot episode.

Summary: Get over the missing pilot - the DVD is GREAT
Review: Yes, the pilot is missing. But it is a PILOT. The pilot is not considered part of the first season for any show. And besides, you can easily buy the pilot off of Amazon.Now on the actual DVD itself...incredible. This is probably one of the best dvds released so far. The picture quality is amazing, better than when it was originally aired. The sound is equally good; the dialogue is very easy to understand. There are a ton of special features, all good (except for the stupid owner of the restaurant...gag). One can spend hours with the character web. I was made happy with the inclusion of the Log Lady introductions, (from the Bravo airings). What I found the most impressing was the art directing for the dvd itself. The menus are beautiful, the packaging is beautiful, all anticpating the beauty of the series itself. Speaking of the series, I don't think I need to say that the show is the best TV series ever made, and Lynch and Frost are geniuses. So overall, you get your money's worth. There are enough special features to make anyone happy, great packaging and design, and the excellent series itself. Get over the missing pilot; you can easily find it elsewhere.

Summary: Worthless without the pilot
Review: Add mine to the list of complaints that the pilot isn't included in the set. This is one set that I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before buying because this one of the first TV shows that I really loved. I got my set and sat down with my wife to show it to her since she had never seen it, and found out about the missing pilot. (After going back to the menu and hitting play episode 1 over and over). I would have appreciated a sticker or a warning label on the set, or at least some mention on the box that it was incomplete. So the CD's will sit on a shelf until I get around to ordering the poor quality import. I actually find myself feeling pretty mad that they try to gloss over the fact that they don't include the pilot with a little card that says "The Story Far". It's almost like selling a DVD of Star War's with the first 30 min missing. The CD set is worthless without the pilot which set the tone.

Summary: Must have for TP fans
Review: This set is great! The video and sound quality are excellent which is a welcome change after owning the VHS boxed set for so many years. The bonus materials include recent interviews with many of the cast members, a phone interview by Wrapped in Plastic with Mark Frost, notes on the deleted scenes, director's commentary tracks, the Log Lady Intros, the "Previously on Twin Peaks..." lead ins, and a section on the last DVD called "Tibet" with information about the characters and cast members with even MORE interviews. Sure the Pilot Episode is missing, but it's missing from all of the VHS boxed sets too...it's a licensing issue. With the amount of work put into this I'm sure Artisan did everything they could to include that too. I can't wait until the second season is available.

Summary: Let me keep this brief...
Review: Finally someone has issued Twin Peaks on DVD. It's about time. I agree with the others that something should have been done with the pilot. It's a shame that it couldn't have been worked into this collection. But the packaging, the graphics of the menus, and the beauty of the transfer outweigh any misgivings I have about omission of the pilot. If you have not seen Twin Peaks, let me say that I consider the series Lynch's finest achievement since Eraserhead. Yes, better than Blue Velvet, better than Mullholand Drive. Lynch's style and influences make him a natural to create a TV series and this is the best show that was ever aired on television. It's hard to imagine what TV would be like without its creation. If you like David Lynch(and I hope you're reading this because you do), then buy this DVD.

Summary: Video quality via Brody
Review: While I love watching the video's, not having seen any since the original airing, the video quality reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when Brody was making bootleg movies with his camcorder. The films are grainy, out of focus, blurry. The only saving grace is the surround soundtrack which is crisp and clear. Worldvision Home Video should invest in some modern equipment or find a new supplier to produce these video's.

Review: A terrific DVD, such as it is, but with the glaring omission of the Pilot episode. Be forewarned: DVD starts with first episode of the "regular" season, AFTER the pilot. This will be a shock and a disappointment for those not expecting it! Would be 5-stars otherwise.

Summary: Even Better than the First Time
Review: I missed Twin Peaks when it was first aired. My wife and I watched it several years later on Bravo and loved it. 10 years have passed since then. I received my First Season set just in time to give it to my wife for Christmas. Like many other reviewers I was quite disappointed to find that the Pilot Episode is "missing" from this set - yet not available for sale from Amazon. Annoying. Also like many other reviewers I quickly logged onto a very popular online auction site and was able to purchase a copy of the pilot from Hong Kong in minutes. You'll definitely want to see the pilot again before watching the First Season set. I think we enjoyed seeing Twin Peaks even more this time around, even though we could remember what happened. I particularly enjoyed seeing all the Twin Peak actors 10+ years younger again.
