Summary: Twin Peaks - The incomplete first season
Review: This is just an informal message to all of you guys who have not seen Twin Peaks before and don't know where to begin.

First of all I just want to say that Twin Peaks is the best thing to happen on this planet. It's just amazing from the very start.

Okay, now that's out of the way.

First you should buy/see the pilot episode. It's an import from Hong Kong or something, has a really bad sound and not-so-good picture, but it's the only version out there on DVD. I guess it's better than nothing. Oh...and it's REALLY expensive.

Then you should buy/see the "Twin Peaks - First season" box. It's not really the complete first season since the pilot episode (see above) is missing, but anyway... On this box is the rest of the first season (7 episodes). There's also some extras like interviews and that sort of things, but if you have never seen Twin Peaks before, do NOT - and I repeat - do NOT see these before you have seen the rest of the series. One guy in one of the interviews is actually saying who is the killer...so if you don't want to know that from a film professor, but rather from Twin Peaks itself, see the rest of the series first and the extras after that.

But now comes the problem: The second (and final) season does not exist on DVD yet. We all hope that some time in the near future this will be released, but for now you'll just have to wait for it. This season consist of 22 episodes. When this seasons is released, it will brobably contain some extras too, but I don't think you should see those either before seeing...

FIRE WALK WITH ME. That's the name of the Twin Peaks movie. It was released one year after the series final episode was shown on TV, but the story is about Twin Peaks's murder victim's life before she was murdered (one week before the pilot episode). Since it was released after the series, you should see it after you have seen the series. Another reason is that 1) You won't understand a single line if you haven't seen the series first and 2) You will know about an hour in the movie who the killer is and that's not good!

Finally, there's a "european theatrical release version" of the pilot out there (only on VHS). This is the pilot episode with an alternative ending. Just for the über-fans of the show, but if you want to see , you should see this after you have seen everything else (see above). It was actually released on VHS before the series aired on TV, but it totally ruins the experience you'll get from the series because here too, you'll learn who the killer is.

So that's it. You can (if you're not up to date) order the whole series (not the pilot, though) on VHS, but I would have waited until the second season in released on DVD.

Summary: I need more!!!
Review: I never watched this series when it was on t.v. because I don't watch t.v. I thought "The Prisoner" was the only good t.v. series, but that was in the '60s! It was only after I watched several of David Lynch's movies (I was particularly impressed with "Blue Velvet") that I decided to watch "Fire Walk With Me". I loved it so much, I borrowed a bunch of "Twin Peaks" episodes on video from my sister in law! It was like I needed my fix every night! She had the pilot (not on this dvd) and all the episodes on this dvd (1-7), but not the last episodes showing "who killed Laura Palmer". I have never seen those episodes! It doesn't matter that I know who killed Laura! I was hoping this had all those episodes, and it didn't. I will go insane if they aren't released on dvd soon!

I was very pleased to revisit this wierd town again, but I think they could have given us more extras. The packaging is great. I just wish more extras were in it. The pilot should have been included as well. It's weird to hear "previously on Twin Peaks" as soon as you hit play!

Summary: David Lynch at his best.......
Review: David Lynch's Twin Peaks is one of the best thiller series ever to air on TV. With Lynch's dark look into a town filled with adultry, lies, sercrets, and murder. Kyle MacLachlan plays one of his greatest roles as FBI special agent Dale Cooper. Agent Cooper uses his unusually methods to find the killer of the girl everyone loved. Sara Palmer is found dead on the shore in twin peaks. Suddenly everyone is hidding somthing from someone else. Nobody trusts anyone in the small little town and the death of a loved one becomes a can of worms for everyone.

Set aside time for this series because you can't only watch one!

Summary: NOT the COMPLETE first season
Review: While I found the extra features to be great, and the intro by the log lady good, I must say this box set it quite a let down.
Why? Because it is not the 1st season as stated on the box set, it is part of the first season. Gone is the 2 hour piolet episode which introduces the main characters, and where is the rest of the season?
I only hope they do release the remainder of the series, as some of my favourite episodes were toward the end of series one.
ie - Madie's demise, Harold, and Who killed Laura Palmer?

Summary: Morons giving bad reviews
Review: Listen, you twits, there were all kinds of warnings that this set didn't include the pilot. Several reviewers mentioned it. If you had done your research, you would have known about it; additionally, the pilot is now available on DVD from Amazon.com as an import (or the big online auctions, or several other places).

There were licensing issues around the pilot; the folks that own the rights to the series don't own the rights to the pilot. The folks that own the rights to the pilot chose to put it out with a dumb "final ending" that doesn't really connect with the series.

If you're all bent out of shape about missing the pilot, it's not Amazon.com's fault, or the various rights' holders fault...

As far as the series goes... incredible TV. In fact, it's incredible filmmaking, the likes of which you just never see on TV. I can't wait for the second season to come out on DVD!

Summary: Let The Buyer Beware
Review: Regardless of the reason(s) for the omission of the 1st (so-called 'pilot episode') there is no excuse for the makers of this set intentionally neglecting to note on the packaging that this is NOT THE COMPLETE 1ST SEASON. My disappointment when I began the '1st' episode and it began with: 'previously on Twin Peaks...'cannot be understated. Regardless of the excallent picture and sound quality I cannot look at this any way other than with the feeling of being deliberatlely misled. Probably this being done with the intent of selling as many units of product as possible before the public should 'wise up'. If a person is okay with buying the set without the beginning that is fine, but it is cowardly and insulting for the makers/distibuters to have not been open about the omission. I returned my copy of the set immediately and would urge others to do so. If the makers/distributers have legal difficulties let them work them out prior to releasing a flawed product. I believe that it is important that a message be sent to the makers/distrbuters that it is unacceptable to mislead customers. Sincerely, Alan Henderson

Review: I own Twin Peaks on all 3 formats available: video, LD and now, DVD. The DVD collection is stunning. The picture is clear and beautiful. The menu is fun, keeps you kinda guessing. I cannot wait for the 2nd season to come out, then my collection will be complete.

If you own a DVD player, and you loved this show, the DVDs are well worth it... esp the Commentaries!

BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT.

Review: Honestly nothing more can be said about Twin Peaks, it's brilliance has resonated for over a decade now and that is proof enough that this program is a timeless classic. In terms of the DVD Artisan have done a magnificent job that even the most die hard fan has gotta be happy with. I can't wait for the following releases.

Summary: The Best - Bar None
Review: No other T.V. show (or movie for that matter) has left such an impression on me. It has superb acting, more twists-and-turns you can shake a stick at, and a mysterious story line that will forever run deep. You have got to experience the wonder by picking this up. If not, season 2 will never come around as Artisan is watching sales to see if they should release it. What a horrible shame that such a great piece of work has a chance of never being finished up in DVD. Trust me, if you like mystery, great acting, with a touch of quirkiness--Twin Peaks will be your all-time favorite as well.

Summary: FANTASTIC JOURNEY TO TWIN PEAKS
Review: I was amazed by the quality of both film and DVD. The picture and sound (DTS & DD5.1) is on par with the best DVDs available on the market!
I watched first the pilot (Chinese DVD) - compared to the this box set the quality is awfull, audio has defects, etc but you must fisrt see the pilot and then go on to the episodes. I hardly made myself to stop watching a third episode in a row and leave it for tomorrow. Twin Peaks is one great movie of all times!
Can'twait till the rest of the seasons will come out on DVD, so Icould continue my journey to Twin Peaks and watch FIRE WALKS WITH ME at the end
