Summary: "Sex and the City" is an all right show, BUT...
Review: can someone please answer my question. How on earth is Sarah Jessica Parker considered a sex symbol! I blame the same guys who somehow convinced people that Gwyneth Paltrow and Heather Locklear are hot. God bless America.

Summary: review is for the dvd...
Review: The shoe is great. My review is for the Dvd. The only advantage in buying the dvd is to skip shows. The transfer is awful!! I can not stress this enough. I have vcr tapes that have been taped over multiple times that look better!!!! beware on this one if you expect to get at least a decent xfer!

Summary: Does anyone not like this show?
Review: I wasn't expecting it, but I didn't even pause before buying it when this gem hit the shelves. This is one of the smartest and funniest shows on television. Even better - it's affordable! It's far too typical for TV shows to come out 1 or 2 episodes to a tape, all priced at $19.95 or more. At this price, I'll buy the whole series - soon? I hope? I'm waiting for season two...

Summary: Great content but poor video quality
Review: Sex and the City is a great series and it is great to have the whole first season in one dvd collection. So, on content, I give it 5 stars. HOWEVER, the video quality is so poor (no stars) that I could not recommend this set unless you are a hard-core fan. The pictures are incredibly grainy and unclear. In fact, the video quality of this dvd series is so bad, it is not only worse than any dvd I own, it is worse than any vhs tape I have including some that I have recorded from TV shows.

SAMANTHA WHO IS THE WILD AND NOT AFRAID TO TAKE A RISK. MIRANDA IS SO SERIOUS AND INSERCURE. CHAROLETTE WHO IS INNOCENT AND NIAVE. THIS SHOW DEFINITELY TAUGHT ME SOME THINGS ABOUT EVERYBODYS IDEAS OF RELATIONSHIPS AND SEX

Summary: Being Single
Review: Recommended for all single women. One of the few written from a single woman's perspective. Not really my kind of lifestyle, but I can relate to many aspects of it. Like it equally as Ally McBeal's. If there's no perfect man for me out there, I'm very much contented at being single.

Summary: Great show! Horrid video transfer!
Review: Sex and the City is a wonderfully acted, very funny sitcom. It is intelligently written and executed. I have laughed so hard at some of the scenes, and gotten misty-eyed over others. These four women are wonderul. Being one of my favorite shows, I never miss a Sunday night. God, I hate to give this show a one star. But I am judging the DVD as a whole, not the show. On to the DVD... Horrible, tragic, and a huge let-down. I love this show and to see it looking so HORRIBLE on DVD is not inspiring at all. This is a digital video disc, and the picture quality looks worse than a VHS tape. My cable broadcast Sunday nights looks FAR superior to this transfer. Edges are like static, pictures are grainy, and distortion is flickering all over the place, especially on white/gray subjects. Movement is hardly smooth with all the graininess flickering like earthquakes as the camera moves. Yuck, yuck, yuck... I love my player. I have great looking things I play on it. DVD is digital folks, and all companies are taking advantage of the crystal clear picture it offers by performing wonderful transfers to the disc. This HBO release is truly, leaps and bounds, the worst I've ever seen. I don't see many VHS tapes that are even this bad! If I was HBO Pictures, I'd be so ashamed of my latest work on DVD. I mean, it is really bad and I can almost say it is a defect that will allow them to re-issue to buyers a new improved copy. I spent $ on this and I'm sorry I did. I am going to try to return this. I was really expecting that crisp, bright picture. I can go back to my taped copies I did of the first season and enjoy them better. The DVD picture quality is really that bad and is actually annoying to watch... I hope I don't sound like I'm ranting and raving, but the video transfer is a HUMONGOUS disappointment that bothers me. I think you will find more negative comments on this as the DVD makes it's way further into the marketplace and, unfortunately, tarnishes HBO's image of quality.

Summary: TV's Best
Review: Let's face it: TV choices are becoming slim these days. And even the good shows, like "Ally McBeal" are beginning to sink faster than they should be.

I'm not lucky enough to get HBO at my house, but the buzz and reviews for "Sex and the City" were all so positive that I HAD to go with my gut instinct and talked someone into getting me the set for my birthday.

I watched these and my gut proved right again! Here was a show that was...totally exceptional and non-stop enjoyable to watch. It is fresh and well-done, and it's nice not to have an audience laughing at certain times because sitcoms these days are, let's face it, atrocious. And it's easy to say that the aspect of "Sex and the City" that makes it so great is the stellar performances by the leading ladies (Parker, Catrall, Davis, and Nixon).

When I began watching the show Nixon as the bitchy, tough Miranda had me hooked. And after a few episodes I was dying over Parker's Carrie. And then I perked up whenever Davis's Charlotte would come on the screen (how could you not love someone so naive!); then, go figure, Catrall's American counterpart to ABFab's Patsy Stone had me cringing with laughter. These women act so well that you cannot pick a favorite neurotic, beautiful, funny and more appealing character.

And what's more, the supporting roles by Chris Noth as Mr. Big, Miranda's on and off boy toy Skipper and Euro Trash Amalita are all just as good, and give each episode different flavors of lust, money, and bedroom etiquette.

To be frank, I'm hooked, and it disappoints me I cannot tune into HBO every week to follow the latest misadventures in these glorious womens' lives. I hope that the people at HBO see their great sales numbers on this boxed set and decide to release the complete 2nd season as well...and then the third...and so forth.

You will not be disappointed by these stories! They will make you cry with laughter and leave you feeling nice after watching one. I highly reccommend them to anyone who questions them.
