Rating: Summary: This set rocks. Review: Brilliant writing, brilliant acting, have watched all three tapes about thirty times and still find new laughs. Buy this set.
Rating: Summary: Can't wait for the second season! Review: This is a fabulous show that I think any woman can relate to. It's funny, provacative and completely enjoyable. The DVD edition is very well done, with cast biographies and a behind the scenes look at Sex and the City. I highly recommend it to fans of the show. My only question is when will the second season be available?
Rating: Summary: KIM CATTRAL RULES! Review: In fact, all the actresses on this great show do. The last time (and the only time) I have seen a cast this great work was on the network show Freaks and Geeks, but of course most people couldn't take a show that is both unflinching and honest. The only reason this show is on is because the brave ones at HBO know what a intelligent show is and are willing to give it time. Now as a man, I am probably not expected to like this but good is good and did I mention that Kim Cattral rules?
Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Review: I am a twenty 24 years old and recently engaged. I absolutely love this program and look forward to it each week. I started watching Sex and the City a few months ago, but recently purchased the DVD collection to catch up on the first season. I feel as if I am completely addicted and can't get enough. I thoroughly enjoy watching these women. I find the topics of sex, dating, and relationships to be so right on and feel that many times I can relate to these women and their lives. I highly recommend the show to any women who needs a good laugh. Words cannot explain the true brilliance of the show.
Rating: Summary: Smart and Funny! Review: I was reluctant to watch "Sex and the City", because of the title. I was afraid that I was in for a mild x-rated series. I was so wrong. This is one of the funniest series I have ever watched, and it is the only show on television that I make a point to watch every week. The show centers around four friends, who are quite reflective of real friendships that real women have. These characters represent any real group of girlfriends (the conservative good-girl, the sensible lawyer, the fiery sex-kitten, and the quirky one). They are real women, discussing real things. While this is obviously not a show for younger viewers, I highly recommend it for young adults and older.
Rating: Summary: The Best Show of the 90's & New Milennium! Review: I am a 37 year old single woman and nothing hits the nail on the head like Carrie & Co. No one ever believes what I say about the rules of dating, etc. until my friends started watching Sex and the City and heard it straight from the ladies! I love the show and purchased the videos since I did not see the very beginning of the show. Wow it has come a long way in a short period of time! I love it! Every 20-something and 30-something woman should buy this! It rocks! :)
Rating: Summary: 3 words - GIVE ME MORE! Review: I received the box set from my brother for my birthday. When I removed the gift wrap my first reaction was why on earth would he give me these! When I finally sat down and watched the first tape, all I could think was that I was so glad there were two more tapes to watch! I believe that this is the funniest, most realistic, well written and just downright entertaining show to come out in a long time. I'm hooked! I can't wait for the second season to come out on tape - in fact, I've already hinted to my brother that he can give me that for my next birthday!
Rating: Summary: A shallow show for shallow people.... Review: The premise of this show is to portray shallow characters, leading empty, meaningless lives in an urban setting. There is little if any discussion of the important things in life- spirituality, family, or anything beyond immediate gratification through sex and relationships with other shallow characters. If you truly find this show meaningful, and somehow related to your life, you need to reexamine your priorities and values.
Rating: Summary: Funny, entertaining, shocking and fashion Review: This show is great. It is funny, entertaining, shocking and has wonderful fashion sense. What more could you ask for on a boring Sunday night when all you can think about is getting up the next morning, making that dreaded drive to the job you once liked, but now merely tolerate because you have yet become independately wealthy.
Rating: Summary: All I ever wanted to know about... Review: Having lived and worked and loved most of my life -- some 40 years -- within the geographic confines of City's world, I welcomed this series as a possible humorous look into what I might be missing. And, in a way, I wasn't disappointed. The writing was clever and witty and the four women principals seemed familiar. Not that I've known any of them in reality, just parts of them. It was more deja vu than jamais vu, but, once I got over the usual preconceptions and expectations, I realized that "Sex in the City" is not a documentary, or even a home movie, but a satyrical exploration of fantasy lives on both sides of the camera. More importantly, however, it was entertaining and fun to talk about with other people who live with the nagging suspicion that someone out there is having a hell of a good time. In subsequent seasons the series has become rather annoyingly repetitive. The writers are as clever as ever, though a bit hard pressed to come up with "shockers." It's as if they, like their fictional creations, were sadly trapped in one dimension. But that's a footnote. The first season was worth every enjoyable minute and is highly recommended.
