Summary: If only the "Simpson's" could be this consistently fresh...
Review: It's sad to think that in tne years or so, the "Off-color" humor offered here will be the norm. Ah, well. At least "Family Guy" died in its prime. And here we have the cream of the crop: the first two seasons. Let me put it this way: I'd only seen ONE episode of this several years ago and, thanks to its sporadic schedule, I saw no more. And that one episode prompted me to shell out the money needed for the first two seasons.

People compare this to the "Simpsons" and there are two camps: those that think "Family Guy" is a rip off and those that think these people are dumb. I'm of the latter category. I loved the simpsons. But the first season was pretty bad, the second was a little better. Only in its third seaons did it begin to become classic. And lately it has slipped. That said, "Family Guy" never did that, despite being dragged through the mud for being edgy.

The humor in "Family Guy" in nonsensical. It takes familiar situations and adds surreal, absurd humor to it, whereas with, say, "Simpsons" it took nonsensical plots (HOW many jobs have Marge and Homer had? At least a hundred) and added familiar humor to them. Both work. Let it go.

The cast of "Family Guy" is a gem. Peter Griffin is your typical sitcom figurehead -- fat, oafish, lazy, stupid, a borderline alcoholic. He has a lot of Homer-esque qualities minus, you know, the child abuse.

Lois always makes for a good laugh ... she seems like a typical sitcom mom, but then she and Peter will laugh like Beavis and Butthead if one of them says "meatlog".

Meg and Chris (voiced by Seth Green!) have little done with them, but Seth Green brings hilarity to dim Chris and Meg is always good for a teen-angst plot device.

And then we have the two greatest characters: Brian and Stewie. Brian is their dog who walks, talks, drinks, and hits on women. He act essentially like Wilson from "Home Improvement" were he a social drinker and a mutt. The oddity that he interacts freely with the family is addressed only once and as a throwaway joke, at that.

Stewie is barely a toddler, maniacal, matricidal, and hilarious. It's never outright clear that the family can understand him or whether h's speaking baby talk, but he gets all the best lines and subplots. Imagine a Bond villain or Dr. Evil as a child. That's Stewie.

The "Clerks" of televison, "Family Guy" is a must own for those with a willing palate. And maybe were you to watch this too often, the episodes would go the way of the "Flaming Moe": still funny, but why isn't the laughter as hard as it was the first time. But maybe not. The unexpected cameos and oddities have, upon my third time through, remained fresh. So buy this. But NO SPRINKLES! For every sprinkle I find, I shall KILL YOU!

Summary: I miss this show...
Review: This cartoon was so funny! It was sort of like a family that was similar to "The Simpsons", but a little bit more naughty. I don't think this show was ever given much of a chance to become famous, because people were already against it once it came on television. That's why it didn't last long because it was getting bad press and stuff. I'm so glad to see that it's being remembered on DVD now and is also showing reruns of it on the Cartoon Network too. Long live "Family Guy".

Summary: The best
Review: I am a Simpsons, South Park, and a #1 King of the Hill fan. As loyal as I am to Hank Hill, The Family Guy is definitely pushing Hank over (just a little 'cuz we're both from Texas). I think this could be the best animated series ever, I hope Fox realizes and keeps it going.

Summary: The funniest and most controversial cartoon is now on DVD!!
Review: If you are a true fan, you will order this DVD set. There are always little things that everyone misses... (ie. Spiderman appears randomly to save Peter from a fall and utters "Everybody gets one") With all these quick jokes here and there, you are bound to watch an episode over and over again reminding yourself of the hilarious sattires. Note: Not for the closed minded... you may find yourself becoming angered by this hilariously controversial series.

NOTE: This DOES play on the newer Playstation 2 models. The ones that are not able to play are probably older model PS2s that had some issues with the old DVD player itself.

Summary: A must have!!!!!!
Review: When family guy was on the air I was to young to appreciate its pure genius. I was only able to understand the obvious "fart jokes" that the show had to offer. When it was canceled i didnt really care that much. years past and i matured, then my older brother showed me an episode of family guy that he downloaded, (the only way to obtain family guy untill now)i could not stop laughing. I was able to appreciate all the jokes now and i thought it was hilarious!!! I found myself downloading more and more episodes, it took forever to do and the quality was horrible but it made me laugh more than anything else. The show is beyond anything an average viewer would expect, the characters are: peter griffin, father and main character of the show; louis griffin, mother and only normal character; meg, teen trying to fit in the popular crowd; chris griffin, fat son who says the stupidist things; stewie griffin, (my favorite) baby genius hellbent on taking over the world who for some reason has a british accent rater than a new york accent like the rest of his family; Brian the dog, he can talk and is sarcastic. Each episode is packed with 1 million and 1 jokes, comedic flashbacks/flashfowards, comedic songs, and phrases so dumb they will make u laugh. Stewie, since he can talk and is smarter than everyone on the show, is put in situations that only adults face, like paying bills, screaming at adults, getting drunk, and flirting w/ women. It is just hilarious seeing a baby with a british accent speak in perfect manner and dealing with mature situations. This is a great show i reccomend buying the dvd

Summary: A Must Buy
Review: If you haven't seen Family Guy, you're really missing out and I think you should check out some episodes one way or another, either by TV re-runs or from a friend who has the DVD. It's a cartoon sitcom like no other, hitting on politics and all different aspects of society and keeping it extremely funny and entertaining. For all those who enjoy the show, you know what's up. Well, there's not much to say other then that if you like the show, this is essential. It is exactly what it says, the first two seasons, some of the funniest episodes ever. On top of that it's packed with special features and more than enough to keep you Family Guy fans entertained for hours and hours. This set is well worth the price and I don't have any complaints, great sound, great picture, and just all around great quality. You're missing out if you don't get this, and that's the bottom line. I'm lookin' forward to completing the collection when Season 3 comes out in a few months. I give a big thumbs up to all that made this DVD happen because it was needed in my view and the idea of the set was executed perfectly.
