Summary: SIX FEET UNDER DVD
Review: OK I DIDNT GET TO SEE THE FIRST TWO EPISODES UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON WITH RERUNS, BUT I STARTED IN THE THIRD EPISODE AND WAS HOOKED FROM THERE. I THINK THAT THAT REALLY SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT A SHOW IF YOU CAN JUMP IN THE MIDDLE OF A SEASON AND FOLLOW WHAT IS GOING ON AND NOT MIND THAT YOU MISSED THE FIRST EPISODES AND KEEP WANTING TO WATCH. I MYSELF LOVE MOST OF THE CHARACTERS. I ESPECIALLY LOVE BRENDA IN THE FIRST SEASON, BUT IN THE SECOND SEASON I HAVE TOTAL OPPOSITE FEELINGS TOWARD HER. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACHEL GRIFFITHS BECAUSE SHE IS A WONDERFUL BRENDA, BUT SHE TOTALLY CHANGED IN THE SECOND SEASON. RUTH IS ALSO VER WELL DONE AND I WISH THAT SHE WOULD LET LOOSE A LITTLE MORE OFTEN. I CAN REALLY IDENTIFY WITH DAVID AND I AM GLAD HE HAS DECIDED TO LIVE LIKE WHO HE REALLY IS. KEITH IS ALSO PRETTY COOL AND IS EVEN BETTER IN THE SECOND SEASON ALTHOUGH HE IS DIFFICULT TO LIKE IN THE SECOND SEASON. CLAIRE IS ALSO AWESOME BECAUSE SHE IS SO CONFUSED WITH HER LIFE AND EVERYTHING GOING ON AROUND HER THAT TEENAGERS CAN'T HELP BUT RELATE TO HER.THE ONLY THING I DON'T LIKE ABOUT CLAIRE IS HER DRUG USE BECAUSE I AM SO AGAINST DRUGS, BUT LIKE I SAID THE SHOW IS VERY CLOSE TO LIFE AND THAT IS NO DOUBT A PART OF MANY TEENAGERS'LIFE. I LIKE NATE BECAUSE IS SO LOST THAT YOU ONLY HAVE TO SYMPATHISE WITH HIM, AND HIS HEALTH COMES MORE INTO PLAY IN THE SECOND SEASON. AS FAR AS BRENDA'S BROTHER GOES, BILLY, I HATE HIM WITH THE PASSION. I KNOW THAT HE IS SICK IN THE HEAD AND HE CANNOT HELP THAT BUT THAT DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT I DO NOT LIKE HIM. ALTHOUGH HE DOES ADD A NICE TWIST TO THE SHOW. THE FATHER IS ALSO COOL AND THE FACT THAT HIS KIDS LEARN MORE ABOUT HIM IN DEATH THAN THEY DID IN LIFE MAKES THE SHOW SO MUCH BETTER. HE IS REALLY COOL AND HE HELPS EVERYONE SEE THEIR PROBLEMS SO MUCH CLEARER. I REALLY LIKE BRENDA'S PARENTS BECAUSE YOU ARE ABLE TO SEE WHAT MAKES BRENDA AND BILLY SO MESSED UP, AND HOW DYSFUNCTIONAL THEIR LIFE IS AND WAS. I THINK THAT LIKE AMERICAN BEAUTY, SIX FEET UNDER IS VERY TRUE TO AMERICAN LIFE. THE SERIES DOES NOT TRY TO SUGAR COAT LIFE AND PUTS IT RIGHT OUT THERE FOR EVERYONE TO SEE, AND YOU HAVE TO RESPECT A SHOW THAT HAS THE GUTS TO DO THAT. I THINK THAT EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING TO LEARN FROM THE SHOW AND SOMEONE IS ALSO ABLE TO SEE A PART OF THEMSELVES IN ONE OR MORE OF THE CHARACTERS. THE SOONER THE DVD COMES OUT THE BETTER BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL BE BETTER FOR WATCHING IT BECAUSE THE SHOW IS ALL ENCOMPASSING WITH REGARDS TO THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA.

Summary: The only long running series worth watching!
Review: Six Feet Under is the first and only series I've ever followed from episode to episode, afraid to miss a thing. I tried to watch Felicity, Friends, Dark Angel and even CSI didn't capture my undivided attention like sfu does. This is the first family who ever grabbed me emotionally. I love Ruth, she is so sweet and so dysfunctional. This show isn't as harsh in its darkness as American Beauty was. This family actually loves one another and tries hard to help one another even though they screw it up a lot of the time! David and Claire melt my heart. Brenda and her poor brother Billy break my heart. As for Nate, he makes the whole show just come together for a wonderful point of view that is very human. I can't wait for the DVD!

Summary: Help get SIX FEET UNDER on DVD!!!
Review: Absolutely cannot wait 'til it comes onto DVD! Probably the most diverse, multi-layered, absorbing drama out today. What's so compelling is that it appeals to a ...(large) audience. It touches on issues that skirt these audiences and places them in the irony of life and death, where they all belong.

Summary: Nothing less than great
Review: What a great premise this show has. There is a lot of fodder here-a dysfunctional family in a very uncomfortable profession. Can't wait for the DVD.

Summary: Six Feet Under is the Best Drama Around
Review: The Golden Globe winning drama, Six Feet Under, is finally going to get a DVD release! Anyone who has been following this series on HBO knows that Six Feet Under is one of the best dramas to come out of Hollywood in a long time. With season 2 just ending June 2 this is a perfect time to get the first season and hopefully second season released. For those who aren't familiar with Six Feet Under, the show revolves around the Fisher and Sons Funeral Home but mostly deals with the family and their friends daily struggles with life. Each episode begins with a death in which the body ends up at Fisher and Sons Funeral Home, and usually sets the pace for each episode.

As for the family, the father is deceased but his spirit has appeared in past episodes to guide or comfort some of the cast members. The mother, Ruth, works at a local flower shop and tries to hold a relationship together with its owner, Nikolai. Ruth has two sons, David and Nate. David is in a homosexual relationship with Keith who works with the police force, and Nate has problems health wise and is in a relationship with Brenda who has major problems of her own. I don't want to give too much away, so I'll let you find out all their problems when you watch the show. There is also Ruth's daughter who is an artist, but is only beginning to realize her potential to succeed. She is caught up in thinking that her life is the worst in the world, which seems to stem from growing up in a funeral home (or at least that is what she thinks). There is also Federico, who works under David and Nate in the funeral home. His job is to basically prepare the bodies and that's mostly where you see him throughout the episodes. There is also the occasional visit by Mitsy who is determined to either buy out Fisher and Sons or crush David and Nate. She would probably prefer to do both, though.

That doesn't even begin to explain the best drama series around. For those who think that this is just some show about death, you're wrong. Six Feet Under is so much more and I can't wait for season 3 to begin. There is much going on throughout this series with lawsuits, love triangles, drug abuse, money scandals, and the occasional death:) that it's almost impossible not to watch once you have started. Also, a lot of people are probably able to relate to many of the topics covered in this show. This DVD will make a great addition to your collection whether you are following the series now, or buying this to see it for the first time. You won't be disappointed!!!

Summary: Another gem from HBO ...
Review: American Beauty and Twin Peaks rolled into one, this series offers black humor, twists and turns and more character development than the first three seasons of Sex and the City. I will not go into detail as many reviewers have already done so. Only one thing: What's with that price? I bought it in Europe with four different language soundtracks and subtitles for only EUR 39.99 ! I would suggest boycotting until the price gets lowered, but die-hard fans will buy it anyway. I must admit, it's still worth it :-)

Summary: Best TV show in History!
Review: The pilot episode is brilliant! Within the first 4 minutes you will be sucked into their world and fascinated by every charecter. This is truly the best dramatic series on television. I'm sorry to see it go away.

Summary: Almost 5 Stars
Review: The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because of the overuse of the F word. I have no problem with profanity or nudity if it's something that is necessary in the storyline, but almost every character uses the F word in almost every scene! At least it seems that way to me. They also try to throw in nudity wherever possible, and it's really not necessary. Aside from that gripe, this is the best TV series I've seen in a long time, aside from Joan of Arcadia (how's that for opposite ends of the spectrum??? LOL!)
The show does not strive for happy endings or easy wrap-ups. It goes for the jugular or the heart until you're on the edge of your seat...and then you either breathe a sigh of relief or go crashing over that cliff. Brilliant!!!
I am so thankful to whoever donates the DVD sets to the public library, or I would've never seen the show. Thankfully season 2 is available there and I'll be able to rent season 3 if it's not donated. This awesome show is not enough to make me subscribe to HBO, but it sure is one good reason to if you can afford it!

Summary: Best series currently on television
Review: Alan Ball's Six Feet Under is, in my opinion, far and away the best series on television. The first season of the show describes the lives of the Fisher clan in the aftermath of the death of the patriarch, Nathaniel. The Fisher family business is in the "death care" industry as it is described in the show. Although this may seems like a mundane topic, the events and characters of the show ring true to real life in many ways.

The acting on the series is superb as is the cinematography. HBO truly is in a league of its own. The special features for the set are not fantastic. However, owning the complete first season is well worth the cost of the set. Buying it is a great way to introduce yourself to one of the most intriguing works of television ever made.

Summary: Wow!
Review: I just spent the entire weekend watching the first season of "Six Feet Under" and it was time well spent. Unfortunately, I don't have HBO, therefore, only could get glimpses of this show as well as "The Sopranos" from awards shows. Thank goodness for DVDs. Not knowing what to expect, I thought that my curiosity would be satisfied with the first episode and that I'd go on to something else. Wrong! I found this show absolutely mesmerizing. All of the cast members and guest stars are perfectly matched to their characters. I've found that I've fallen in love with the Fishers as I did in a very different way with the Sopranos. The characters are completely well defined. Nate is the sensitive one still searching for his place in the world. David is the very uptight, straight-laced middle child by day and the tormented, self destructive homosexual by night. Claire, the youngest, is still an enigma to me. She seems to hide her true brilliance underneath a tough exterior and a facade of mediocrity and freakishness. But...the one character that truly shines for me is the matriarch, Ruth, played incomparably by Frances Conroy, who is prudishly proper one minute and radiantly sensual the next. When she is on the screen, I can't take my eyes off of her afraid that I'll miss some subtle, meaningful gesture.

Needless to say, I love this show. If you don't have any problems with death and don't mind the "f-bomb" being dropped every five minutes, you'll love it as well. Yes, it can be quite dark, but in that darkness, there are moments of absolute clarity and hilarity, just like real life.
