Rating: Summary: "The Last Shout"?? Review: This is a must have to any collection. If you have not heard of the series, you have been living under a rock. It is amazing. I have one complaint what happened to "The last Shout", that was the last episode, and it did not make it to the DVD set. That is the only reason that I did not give it 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Brilliant Review: I first came across Absolutely Fabulous one night on Comedy Central while channel surfing. I could not believe what unqualified brilliance I was beholding. I sat stunned & completely enthralled at the adventures of Eddy, Patsy and the long-suffering Saffy. This was like nothing I had ever seen. Jennifer Saunders is a comic genius with rivals to none other than perhaps Lucille Ball. Due to the fact that she also wrote the series I would tend to give her the nod. It's too bad that when she was exposed to American television on Friends (as Ross' bride to be Emily's Mother) her part was so small that her talents were not revealed to the broader US television audience. The supporting cast is also magnificent, Joanna Lumley as Patsy is terrific as the drunken nymphomaniac. Julia Sawalha is remarkable in her role as Saffy, who actually acts as more of a Mother to Eddy than daughter. It's this role reversal that allows her to get off the best one liners. June Whitfield as Mother and Jane Horrocks as Buble round out this noteworthy cast. If ever anything was made for DVD, this is it. Absolutely Fabulous is Absolutely Brilliant.
Rating: Summary: Always laugh when I watch this series. Review: When I discovered AbFab during its first run thru on Comedy Central I howled with laughter. That really lose-control-over-yourself stuff. It had been decades since I found any TV show worth getting really excited about. Oh how I anticipated each first time viewing of each show! I have watched this series over and over and it doesn't dent my appreciation of it or how really brillant I find the lines, timing, facial expressions, etal are. A true work of genius. The quality of the DVD transfer is really noticeably good. Since I worship Jennifer Saunders & cast, I can't be objective about the extras on this DVD since I can't get enough. AND for those who haven't heard, contrary to what Jennifer had sworned were the final episodes, she is indeed doing a fourth series shortly for the BBC which Comedy Central and later BBC America will be showing us lucky Americans.
Rating: Summary: The best that is available Review: I am one of the BIGGEST AbFab fans alive. I have adored this series from the moment Comedy Central began showing it. I was so happy when I heard and saw that it was to be released as a complete DVD set. The only thing that disappoints me is that there has been some editing done to some of the episodes. For example, "Death." In the scene where Edina and Saffy are discussing Edina's eventual death in the kitchen, the extremely funny lines where Edina is quoting Madonna's song "Like a Prayer" is missing. Maybe this should not bother me, but I just can't stand it when original works are altered. Other than that, the collection is great. A must for any AbFab fan!
Rating: Summary: 3 out of 4 ain't bad Review: This is a 'must buy' for AbFab fans. All the episodes without one Comedy Central commercial. I like the box and there are great outtakes and bloopers. The only reason there isn't a 5th star is that [to me] the 4th disk is crap with the exception of the F&S skit.
Rating: Summary: Oy! Review: Well, I assume anyone who's considering buying this DVD set is already familiar with the brilliance that is AbFab, so I won't go too much into that. It's funny, clever, outrageous-- one of the most chuckalicious things I've ever seen! Now as for this set goes, well, it's a bit of a flop, I think. Of course, better pic & sound quality & all the other DVD luxuries, but that photo gallery is disappointing & they really could have picked some more entertaining tidbits for the outtakes & behind the scenes stuff. I'm perfectly happy with it-- I mean, it's AbFab!-- but I expected a bit more, since it was a DVD set.
Rating: Summary: Buy this DVD set now! Review: This DVD collection is GREAT! If you have even the slightest interest in Absolutely Fabulous then you MUST buy this collection NOW. I am really impressed with the quality of the material on this DVD. I can honestly say that it is the best interactive DVD that I own and it sets a new standard of high quality that I hope other DVDs will follow. This DVD collection was everything that I was hoping for and well worth the wait. The only thing I can wish for now is that "The Last Shout" gets released on DVD, and ... if it's not too much ... that the BBC bring back this brilliant television show!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Worth It! Review: After seeing this boxed set in a store, I had to have it. Each disc contains outtakes and never-before-seen footage not in the video, "How to be Absolutely Fabulous". Best of all, each DVD has great picture quality, unlike most TV-to-DVD releases (Sex and the City). True, the last shout is not on there, but since it wasn't rereleased on video in a while, that probably means there's some liscensing conflict going on. If it ever comes out on DVD, of course, I'll buy that one too.
Rating: Summary: Peerless... Review: All I can say is - Wow! I never expected Ab Fab to be popular in the States. I'm a Brit who realises that our humour doesn't always translate well Stateside.I have seen most (if not all) of the episodes here on the BBC when they were originally aired. This team was definitely one of the funniest ensembles ever to make a comedy in the UK and we all loved them for it. If this sort of humour travels, there are others that will as well... keep a look out!
Rating: Summary: TRULY Absolutely Fabulous Review: Jennifer Saunders is a genious. (check out FRENCH AND SAUNDERS on VHS and you'll see what I mean) This is the FUNNIEST show I have ever seen. I pre ordered this collection a while back without hesitation. Saunders kept her series so fresh and the characters are hilarious! Bravo to Saunders for ending her series while it was in its prime. I can only hope that one day she'll create more reunion episodes. Few appreciate British humor but if you love comedy then you'll love ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. It would have been great if the video for Absulutely Fabulous by the Pet Shop Boys would have been included, (Edina and Patsy are hilarious in the video) but this collection is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.
