Summary: great show, but where are the special features?
Review: I love this show. Both in high school, and even now. I was worried initially buying the DVD as to whether I would have grown out of it or not, but I think that they did such a good job of appealling to everyone that I can still watch it and enjoy it.

My only problem is that the DVD offers no special features, no audio commentary, no nothing. While the picture quality and sound is great, that's not the only reason I buy DVD's. Give us something else for our money!

Summary: Teens Finally A Show You Can Relate To
Review: My So Called Life.A tv show that despite both high critical acclaim & the love of the viewing public the show only lasted one season. But what a season it was.In a time when teen life was being portrayed in 90210 rich kids mode..This show came along and knocked them all on their ass..My so called life is a show that teens and young people can relate to on a personal level. It deals head on with what every teen faces in every day life.Whether it is pretty or not. This show had the courage to do when others feared to trend. This show is powerful and one that once you view it you will never forget it.Standout episodes deal with everything from Peer Pressure,Falling In Love *the good and the bad sides*.But two of the most important i feel is these. In the episode "Other People's Mothers" is an episode where one of the main characters has a drug overdose. The rest of the series she continues to deal with the heartless souless demon that is drug use.And drug use is shown for what it is here not glamourized in any way.I know of some people that seen that episode and it scared them straight.Just proves the power of this sadly underated show. And the other episode i want to mention is called "Guns and Gossip"..Keep in mind that they FILMED it in 1993 that is 6 years before the trajedy at Columbine in 1999.I challage anyone to watch that episode and not be haunted by it.And the way they end that episode *i won't say how coz don't want to ruin it for 1st time viewers* is an ending that then in 1993 was just a work of fiction. But in schoolife after Columbine became a absolute reality in most American schools.I know many people when the episode aired in 1993 saw the ending "yeah right that could never happen here in America" i was one of them. But in 1999 when Columbine happened the ending of that episode became sad but true.Unlike in another review here the quality of these dvds are very good.It is a lot better then the video tapes that we recorded when the show was on.The reviewer must not have a very good tv set.Picture is great.Take my word for it from someone who taped all the shows when they were on.Yes the price is high but for a show that was only on one season. And gets NO airtime on any of the cable channels it is worth the big bucks for it.Remember the X FILES sets are $129.00 each when they come out and those shows are on tv all the time.Sad to say this show doesn't get the same air time but it deserves it.One thing though they could've had some extras on here for the price they charge.NO EXTRAS.It would've been nice to see even a reunion of the cast at least. To my knowlege they are all still around (Claire Danes was recentally in Terminator 3).And the shows from the episode "My So Called Angels" onward i dare you not to get a lump in your throat and heart i dare ya'..This is a well acted reality show coz it depicts the reality of teenage life..And teens deserve a show that they can fully relate to..And this is a show that everyone teen and nonteen alike should view..Classic show ahead of its time even to this very present day..Get My So Called Life..

Summary: Best Show In The World
Review: My So Called Life deserves more than 5 stars. It was and always will be the greatest tv show ever made. It makes absolutley no sense why it was cancelled. MSCL fans (including myself) will always be upset about the mistake ABC made. I mean a show nominated and winning Golden Globes and Emmys getting cancelled? It just doesnt make sense. Angela Chase is the most honest and real character I've ever seen in any TV shows or movies. I'll always be upset that MSCL was cancelled and the last we saw of the show was Angela getting into Jordan's car and Brian watching, but it could all be for the best. MSCL wasn't given the opportunity to turn into another stupid, sappy teenage soap opera. But we were all robbed of MSCL's greatness. We'll never know what could have been. We'll never know what My So Called Life could have achieved, who Angela would end up with, and how each character's life would change. We didn't even get the chance to see if Rayanne and Angela would be friends again. It is all very ironic. Right when you're getting to know and love something it is taken away and the rest is a mystery. Just like life itself. My So Called Life was a lesson to all of us. It taught us about life, love, friendship, and just getting through the day, staying true to yourself. It was and always will be the most honest tv show and example of life ever made.

Review: This is such a good show! I happened to catch in on MTV and I feel inlove with the boy that lead girl was inlove with, this show had potential to be on much longer! Adleast we got the DVD to cherish.

Summary: The Best Show On Television Ever
Review: This is my absolute all-time favorite television show. I was in 10th grade when the show aired, so, since the characters were also in 10th grade, I related completely. This is the most realistic drama I have ever seen. I do have other favorite shows, such as Dawson's Creek and Felicity, but this will always take the cake. I love owning this DVD set so I can view the episodes whenever I want.

To the person who posted the poor quality on the DVD: The show was originally aired that way! I always thought it was rather strange how dull the colors were but that is how they did it. I won't complain, since the show itself makes up for the camera work!

Summary: Totally Worth It!
Review: I have been a fan of my-so called life for many years and i wish the show hadn't been cancelled but in reality it did. When the annoucement was made that a dvd would be released i was so excited. However the price of the dvd made me rethink my decision to purchase it, but i had an itch to see the show once more and i bought it. I couldn't be happier with my new set. It totally lives up to the expectations of the price and i can say that having the set makes me go back in time when i actually related with Angela and I recommend this dvd to all those who are willing to purchase the set regardless of the price.

Summary: It hurts just to look at it....
Review: I never watched this show when it was on ABC. I happened to catch it on MTV one night and thought it was one of their productions. I fell instantly in love with the characters! When I saw the final episode, I thought it was a joke...I couldn't beleive you could just be left hanging like that. I firmly beleive that this was (and still is) one of the best high school / life orientated shows ever produced. The characters and situations were so true to life and honest...it is obvious that the show was far ahead of it's time.

I was over joyed to discover that the entire series was available on DVD. I just finished watching it (I only got it 2 days ago!) and once again felt as if I had discovered a missing piece of my heart. I really think that even now, 9 years later, this is an amazing program that should be shared with parents and kids.

Summary: great show poor video quality
Review: the show it self gets five stars. the dvd collection has very poor quality. it looks like it was done on a vcr at someone's house and burned on dvd. there was not even any liner notes. it looked like a bootleg when i received it. i loved the show and that is the only reason i an keeping it. NOT WORTH THE 70.00+ they are charging for it. hope this helps!

Summary: THE MISSING PIECE OF MY HEART
Review: I remember that the only thing in 1994 was how important it was to watch MY SO CALLED LIFE with my mother... it was the only thing that brought us together and when it was over the time me and my mother spent together also started to be over... When it went off the air I could never find a more enjoyable show that could even relate to MSCL... so when I found out that they were putting it in dvd I went absolutely crazy... so when I finally bought it and rewatched every episode I became actually happy and it had been awhile since I felt this way so it was like finding a piece of my heart... The way I related to Angela and some of the other characters was unreal... I mean it was almost as Winnie Holzman had taken pages from my life and created this extraordinary wonderful show... I was so sad to see it go but I guess moving on is apart of life but really unable to do after rewatching every show... and I still do almost every weekend... This show is so relatable and so real and is just an all around beautiful show that is a much watch!!! From the creators to the writers to the cast... It is really a wonderful must have show!!!

Summary: Excellent television
Review: It's impossible to overstate just how good this show is. Watching it again after so many years, I kind of expected to see a slew of flaws that escaped my notice before. But to my delight it's just as well written, acted, and produced as I remembered. If you have seen this show before, you can't help but want to buy it. And I heartily recomend that you do.
