Summary: Special features are great
Review: DWW is, without a doubt, my favorite movie of all time, so having seen the DVD version for the first time, I feel as if I just went to see it with Kevin Costner and Jim Wilson. The special feature commentary makes this version a real treasure. I own the 4 hour version on VHS but look forward to a time when it too may be offered on DVD.

Summary: Long gone are the days of old
Review: Thundering across the larger than life screen "Dances" transports the viewer back into a time past when the buffalo and native Americans coexisted, naively unaware of their impending fate under European rule.

While the film is not without fault, particularly its tendency to replicate the faults of countless Hollywood films in their one-dimensional characterisation of native Americans as exotic curiosities (a criticism also applicable to the film's portrayal of the cavalry soldiers as uniformly savage), it nevertheless overcomes these with its compelling story-telling and provocative thesis.

Summary: Wonderful Film
Review: This is a beautiful, engaging film with a captivating plot, drama as well as sweetness, and a beautiful soundtrack. Its biggest drawback is the unfeeling, dull performance by Costner, who was unconvincing in his role. The rest of the acting was fine, and the movie overall was wonderful, if somewhat "Hollywood-ized".

Summary: Doesn't get better than this!
Review: For anybody with a DVD player and can play DTS titles, this movie should be your first pick. Yes, Apollo 13 has great sound, but Apollo 13 is not a classic like Dances with Wolves. Eveybody who has seen it, just can not believe the sound. Gotta get it period!
