Rating: Summary: Doc Review: This is one of those Westerns thatboarders in the Si-Fi.Don`t take that the wrong way, itis a most entertaining flim.A Mother-lode of gold awaits thebravest person who can avoid deathat the hands of some irate indiansand gold crazed white men. There is an interesting scene whenMackenna is looking at a vein ofgold that must be sixty feet high, with nuggets all over the groundas well. Another is a skinny-dipping Julie Newmar afterMackenna. Don`t worry the water is quite murky and details are consealed by that. All in all this is a great movie, enjoy!
Rating: Summary: An overlooked classic Review: This movie floored me the first time I saw it...it seems to take every cliched and hackneyed story line from numerous tall tales told around campfires in the southwest over the last century and weave them into an amazing pell-mell chase filled with the most gorgeous desert scenery. The scene where Edward G. Robinson tells the story about the Lost Adams Mine around the campfire with Omar Sharif, Gregory Peck, Keenan Wynn, Raymond Massey, Burgess Meredith, Julie Newmar, and Anthony Quayle in attendance is as good as any I've ever seen in a western. As good as Johnny Guitar, corny in its own way..(the theme song is "Old Turkey Buzzard" sung by Jose Feliciano.) Just as good the second time around.
Rating: Summary: Action-packed adult western with all-star cast Review: This western has it all- a burned out marshall with a map in his head that could lead to a lost valley of gold, mexican bandits, Indian spirits, murderous renegades, Apaches with tomahawks, thundering gun battles, Telly Savalas as a treacherous cavalry sergeant, desperate chases, wild river rafting, blinding special effects, earthquakes and Julie Newmar in a nude swimming scene! Favorite scene: Edward G. Robinson tells a group of engrossed adventurers the story of the Lost Adams gold mine and how his eyes were burned out by Apaches for desecrating their secret burial grounds.
