Summary: this movie was pathetic
Review: i too want my money back! i expected another shoot-um-up western epic, like the outlaw josey wales, or the good the bad and the ugly!! how could this crap ever beat out a few good men!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: powerful
Review: I will mention a book by Tompkins titled West of Everything that gives some academic-oriented insight into some of the issues this movie deals with. Shoot-em-up fans who are impatient may want to stay away from this one, but I found it gripping and intelligent.

Summary: A Terrific Western
Review: This is all I can say about that..

Summary: I didn't like this movie at all...
Review: Dull, boring... no matter how deep everyone thought the presentation was, the story and ideas portrayed in this movie were still very simplistic. I prefer Eastwood's "For a Few Dollars More" and "Pale Rider." I also thought Gene Hackman robbed Jack Nicholson for the Best Supporting Actor that year. Let's just say that any actor could've done Gene Hackman's part/character in "Unforgiven," but only Jack could've done his Colonel character in "A Few Good Men" the way he did. Hackman didn't do anything special... I like Clint Eastwood and all, but I don't think this movie deserves all the praise it got at the Oscars and in reviews. I think everyone was either Western-starved, couldn't get enough of Clint Eastwood, or had this "clouded" viewpoint "just because" it was Clint. I can't take anything away from everybody else's opinions, however, I just had to state mine.

Summary: 5 stars for the movie, -1 for the transfer
Review: Another Eastwood masterpiece, as stated by others, but MPEG suffers in dark, rainy scenes (of which this film has several). Washed-out and grainy. I was hoping for some extras, like director's commentary, etc. but the story is easily worth the price of the disc.

Summary: The best film of the 90s
Review: This film deserved every Oscar it received (a rare occurrence) and will certainly be remembered as one of the decade's finest pictures. Clint plays up his age and delivers a stark message on the prevalence and spread of violence in our world. Will Munny learns that some people are killers at heart, and they can never escape from it. Chilling and emotionally devastating. Clint and Gene Hackman give two of the best performances of their extremely distinguished careers.

Summary: This is not an action movie.
Review: Many people believe Unforgiven to be an action packed movie. It is not. Unforgiven is an excellent expression of one actor, director, producer, and artist's opinion of violence. This is perhaps the most anti-violence movie out there. Anyone who believes this movie to be action packed must have been born after 1992. This movie I HIGHLY recamend to any Eastwood fan.

Summary: THE BEST WESTERN
Review: A lot of other people said that Unforgiven was slowly paced. WHAT? This movie takes it time, but it's not slowly paced in any way. It builds tension. My brother and I argue over this movie constantly. He preffers more unrealistic westerns, such as The Quick and the Dead. That movie sucked. this one rocks. If you kill a man for the first time, like the Scofield Kid, then are you going to be happy and bragging that you shot a unarmed man? NO! You will be crying like he was, and drinking. Hackman plays the most convincing good/bad guy I've seen in a while. He's good because his the sherrif and deals justice firmly. he's bad becausehe kicks the crap out of people for no reason, and treats the prostitutes as if the were cattle. A thought provoking piece, that should be seen by every western and pyschological fan.

Summary: I want my money back!
Review: I bought this film expecting to watch an exciting and a full action-packed story, and besides being a movie acted and directed by Mr Clint Eastwood, I said, this must be the best Westen movie ever made, but, It was boring, Eastwood's character was weak and unappalling, and I had to expend the whole Sunday afternoon watching this. There are much better mexican westerns. The only actor that keeps afloat the movie is Gene Hackman. I recommend you instead: "The Magnificent Seven ", for me, this is the best Western ever made.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is the finest western movie ever made
Review: Despite the cruel violence you can feel the dirt under your nails in the beginning. While it is hard to have much moral sympathy for Eastwood's character he is after all dealing with the ultimate bad guys. I have this movie on VHS and Laser Disc and am now ordering it on DVD. I consider this the Das BOOT of westerns
