Summary: above average...
Review: This movie has one of the better dry humor vignettes of any I have ever seen. The cowboy is eating a steak and complains to the sardonic cook/bartender, "Hombre, this horse is still fighting for his life." The cook replies, "That's what you got a sharp knife for, cowboy."

Summary: A True Masterpiece
Review: This is true spellbinding stuff. A Great story, depicting the sad tale of "Rio" (Marlon Brando) and his quest to get even with the evil Dad Longworth (Karl Maldon) for the betrayal of some stolen lute, friendship and trust. The one an only film directed by Marlon Brando, is a film of epic proportions, that twists and turns until you feel eventual sympathy with the "Rio" character, after all the nastiness of the ill fated outlaw he once was. Excellently shot using panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, a stirring film score, taught direction, A moody and magnificent Marlon Brando, The sultry Pina Pellicer, (who sadly died shortly after the film) A rousing story...and I just love the script, This film has it all. A follow up would have been super, but alas it wasn't to be. So sit back and enjoy "One Eyed Jacks", and don't let the critic books put you off. So go on! Make that saturday night special watch this movie now!

Summary: Wow was the DVD bad!!
Review: I didn't think it would be possible to destroy a movie I so thoroughly enjoy. The soundtrack was so full of unbearable high pitched noise I had to struggle to watch the film. The reason this film is so exceptional is the beautiful panoramic shots of the Monterey area, but all of that was cut out. This DVD was many notches lower quality than any other version I have seen. Do not buy this!! What a shame to destroy such a grand western....

Summary: A study of THE Brando.
Review: If you want to see and hear some classic footage, this is your movie. The "tub of guts" and "scum suckin' pig" lines are classic. The whole movie will make you strap on your hog leg.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: shady weakish plot but great performances
Review: Brando is good as ever playing a rogue outlaw who's "just being true to his nature" who is betrayed by his friend and abandoned to be caught by the auhtorities. years later , released from prison, he seeks revenge on his onetime friend and betrayer. although the acting was great, the story tends to lose meaning towards the end, as Brando suddenly discovers his conscience and no longer knows what he wants. Some very good scenes, especially Brando being publicly whipped by his former friend turned sherif.

Summary: A classic Brando western on a terrible DVD.
Review: This video looks as if they recorded it off of a TV. I have Night of the Living Dead by Madacy and it looks about the same. DVD.Express would be well advised to take the Hollywood Classics collection out of the company inventory. I guess you get what you pay for.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Second only to "On the Waterfront"
Review: Excellent performances by both Brando and Karl Maulden combined with a very interesting story make this a must-see for all Brando fans.

Summary: Great movie, terrible DVD
Review: My first DVD ripoff. I wouldn't think Amazon would even carry...like this. And one of the great American classics, too!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent movie. Brando is too tough and will blow you away
Review: Marlon Brando not only stars in this movie, he also directed it. The scenes are breath taking and you want him to kill Karl Malden so bad that you can't wait till he has the opportunity. I loved it and it is one of my favorites in my vast collection.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Very scratchy and unclear
Review: This is one of those movies put out by a company that bought the rights but did not restore it. Honestly, it looks worse than a version that you could record off of the television. I would not recommend buying this movie until it is released in a remastered version by Paramount. It is not worth the money. "One Eyed Jacks" was and still is one of my favorite all time movies, but after seeing this copy I returned it to the store because of the poor quality.
