Review: All in all, not a bad Western flick, but it surely pales next to the classic version starring Lee Marvin, Jack Palance & Jeanne Moreau.

Review: Great movie, and even though I was a crew member, I have to say I just loved it! Sometimes when you work on a movie it is hard to watch it after and not be distracted by the memories of how you made each particular scene, but thank goodness this one managed to make you forget all that and lose yourself in the story.

Summary: Hoped it would be better...
Review: I found much of this movie to be slow and lacking. I had hoped for so much more from the cast. I couldn't understand what made the Monte Walsh character interesting enough to make a film about him. And, I found that I connected with very few of the other characters. The two bright spots for me were the roles played by David Carridine and George Eads. Both were well acted; but, not enough for me to want to see this again.

Summary: Quite boring, very slow.
Review: I loved Tom Selleck in "Quigley Down Under" and was excited to see him starring in another western (I know Australia isn't The West, but he plays an American cowboy). I couldn't believe how long it took for this movie to get going, though. The plot was barely discernable for the first 45 minutes. There was precious little to make you care about the characters. I kept waiting for something, anything, to happen that would make me want to keep watching this movie.
Unless you're a huge Tom Selleck fan and just want to own every movie he makes, I'd pass this one by and keep looking.

Review: I start this by telling the reader that, if it is a western, I'll most likely watch it. If it is a western staring Tom Seleck or John Wayne, let me at it. Just so you know my bias. This movie was not nearly as good as the book that fostered it. "Monte Walsh" by Mr. Jack Schaefer is no less than a monument to the American Cowboy. His characters are timeless. When you finsh the book, you will feel that you have lived for a bit in those wonderful times. Mr. Seleck and crew did a laudable job in presenting the story of Monte. Due to the very limitation of the film industry, they could not present the book. But, they did well. The clothing and gear that they used was spot on. Seleck caught the essence of Monte so very well. Mr Carradine did the same as Chet Rollins, Monte's long time friend. Were I able to, I would stand each to a drink. This movie and the book that spawned it touts the best in mankind; individuality, decency, a sense of fairness, loyalty, and friendship. If people don't like this movie for some picky reason, well, you just can't believe how much I don't care.
